TOKYO BLADE: New Lineup Revealed - Jan. 6, 2008
According to Metalzone.gr, the new lineup of the reactivated NWOBHM legends TOKYO BLADE will include founding lead guitarist Andy Boulton, former ARREST lead guitarist Bryan Holland, current OVERLOADED vocalist Chris Gillen, drummer Lorenzo Gonzalez and ex-MINDCANDY bassist Frank Saparti.

TOKYO BLADE, known for such metal anthems as "Midnight Rendezvous", "Night Of The Blade" and "If Heaven Is Hell", has reformed and is currently booking a European tour with confirmed dates in November 2008 on the NWOBHM Festival II in Athens, Greece (November 8) and the Keep It True festival in Germany (November 14). The band recently started rehearsals with an eye on writing and recording a new studio album.

"This is the band that TOKYO BLADE never was and always should have been!" original founding guitarist Andy Boulton recently stated. Added guitarist Bryan Holland, "The first rehearsal was simply unbelievable; the classic TOKYO BLADE songs are so heavy and powerful. It's going to be unreal when we get onstage and then into the studio."

I found this a bit of a surprise to find no one from the past in this, and it's a risky move virtually building the band from scatch (again) but check out Chris Gillen with Overloaded - he is one killer vocalist - it's gonna be real interesting to hear this version of the band.

As for Vick - as much as I love what he did with Blade, he never managed to nail it live.

Check out www.myspace.com/warriorsoftherisingsun for updates on all members past and present.

The came along at the end of the nwobhm - first album was 1983 and they crossed quite a few genres in the 80's from out and out twin guitar metal to more glam stuff and averything in between - a lot of line up changes meant every album was very different, some good, some not so good, but always different.

Actually , the bands longest running member Andy Boulton IS in the band, he wrote or co-wrote all the songs and without a doubt is the only important piece needed from the past. One listen to Chris Gillen and you can see where this is going to lead, with him at the mic the band can actually move forward vs. being locked into the past with Vic or Al who both suck live, see YouTube for evidence.
