Fans Trying To Get DIMEBAG Statue Erected In Dallas - Jan. 8, 2008
According to Revolver magazine, two PANTERA fans — Houston's Joey Riordan and Toronto's Mangra — are trying to get a commemorative "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott statue erected in his hometown in Dallas. As inspiration, they cite existing monuments to Jimi Hendrix (in Seattle), Elvis Presley (in Memphis), and THIN LIZZY frontman Phil Lynott (Dublin, Ireland). "Getting Dimebag Darrell a statue in Dallas matters," Riordan tells Revolver. "That was, his memory will live on."

i think it should happen

dime did a lot for where he lived, he never stopped giving back and he never forgot the people who helped him along the way

i personally think its only fitting, at least something...maybe not an over the top garish statue but something in the least

i've always liked pantera and dimebag was a great guitar player but this happened almost 3 years ago, can we move on please. a statue isnt going to do anything, thats why we still have his music to be able to remember dimebag from what he created, not a piece of metal.

"we still have his music to be able to remember dimebag from what he created, not a piece of metal."

Dimebag's music IS a piece of metal.
RIP Dime.

I'm definitely not against this idea; however, the South is far too conservative to do something like this for a "heavy metal" guitarist, assuming that they try to erect it on municipal property. If it's erected on private property, it stands a chance at happening.

COMMENT | This MUST be done...

They should also replace the Statue of Liberty or the Washington Monument with a huge Dime there too...
