WHITESNAKE: New Album Details Revealed - Jan. 21, 2008
Legendary hard rock band WHITESNAKE will release its new album, "Good to be Bad", at the end of April in Europe via SPV/Steamhammer. The group's first studio album in a decade features "11 new, slamming WHITESNAKE songs which are guaranteed to take their place alongside their multi-million selling catalog," according to a press release.

Commented frontman David Coverdale: "The new album contains all the elements I enjoy about WHITESNAKE, and more. I can hear moments that take me back to the bluesy, early years of the band all the way through the band's musical history to fully embrace the more electric aspects of where we are now, as a band. I'm thrilled with it and can hardly wait to unleash it on an unsuspecting public! If this is indeed the last WHITESNAKE studio record, then I'm happy to finish like this. It was a labor of love making this record...a joy... and I'm still enjoying listening to it. Can't be bad!"

The new songs, written by Coverdale and guitarist Doug Aldrich (who also co-produced the album with Coverdale and Michael McIntyre) provide a good balance of eight rocking tracks and three ballads. Coverdale feels it's the first "real" WHITESNAKE album in almost 20 years, commenting "It's very butch. Very muscular..."

"Good to be Bad" track listing:

01. Call On Me
02. Can You Hear The Wind Blow?
03. Best Years
04. All I Want All I Need
05. Good To Be Bad
06. All For Love
07. Summer Rain
08. Lay Down Your Love
09. A Fool In Love
10. Got What You Need
11. 'Till The End Of Time

WHITESNAKE will be take to the road with DEF LEPPARD, playing a series of co-headline shows across the UK, major festivals and headliner shows in summer of 2008. The internationally renowned, multi-platinum band will be featuring songs from David Coverdale's colorful career, including the hits and new material from "Good to be Bad".

This is an opportunity to experience the ultimate lineup and celebrate 30 years of WHITESNAKE, who are: Doug Aldrich on guitar; Reb Beach on guitar; Timothy Drury on keyboards; Uriah Duffy on bass; Chris Frazier on drums, and, of course, the inimitable David Coverdale on vocals.

Said Coverdale: "I can't wait to get back on stage. After being in the studio for most of 2007, I am most definitely ready to let off some steam. The front row should definitely be prepared!"

If it really is a slight return to the bluesy type of 'Snake...it will blow my mind!

Now playing: Nazareth - "Hair of the dog"

I've been curious for a while about how many of the song titles would have "love" in the title....
1)All For Love
2)None For Love
3)What About Love
4)Fuck Love
5) etc.....Love

The first chance I get (when I'm not busy .....???) I'm gonna go back through the Whitesnake catalog and count the number of songs that have "Love" in the title. I'm betting it's SHITLOAD. Love the band....but that shit bugs the hell outta me. We get it Dave!!! You're a sensitive LOVE machine!!!

Will be buying this though. Even though Tommy (the best fucking double bass drummer to ever grace a stage) won't be on it.

Not expecting much. Without John Sykes, Coverdale hasn't a single thing worth listening to.

I would have to agree with Boz....nothing decent has come from this band since the 1987 release.

I think this'll be good. Doug's other band Burning Rain has Whitesnake like elements to it...and both he and Reb are great guitarists.

The Marsden/Moody era is untouchable by anything that followed. And I have to agree with BRINE B as well, we could have managed without a few more songs with "love" in them.
It's a shame both Marco and Tommy both have left the band, that lineup was awesome to watch live.

At his age, it's more like GreyViagraEarthworm.

"Cause Here I Go Again To Old Country Buffet"
"Slow and Easy....I Might Break My Hip"
"Is This Matlock?"
"Children of the Night(Making All That Racket at 8 PM)"

Since it's only being released in Europe at the end of April I guess that mean that Coverdale wants his USA fans to illegally download it from a BitTorrent site.

I'd love to buy the album and support the band, but can't believe in 2008 they continue to make stupid mistakes like this.

There's nothing worn out about Whitesnake. I saw them on tour with Doug Aldrich two years ago and got knocked off my feet by the utter power of the lineup they had.

Doug Aldrich is really the perfect addition to the band. He can play the Sykes stuff, but has more bluesy roots that seem to work well into bringing WS closer to its roots. Less hair metal, more hard rock/blues.

This has got to work.

Love all Whitesnake. The early Marsden/Moody stuff preferably...the only crapper was "Slip of the Tongue"...some good songs on there(Sailing Ships), but Vai didn't fit in. Now let's get a Coverdale/Hughes/Blackmore/Lord/Paice reunion. THAT would rock!

Yes, I am aware they have only released one album since 1987, and that one album was pretty bad, in my opinion.

Steve Vai was not a good fit for the band, and I think it was proven with "Slip Of The Tongue."

I plan to take a listen and have an open mind when the new material comes out. Hope it's worth the long wait.

It seems everyone on here is forgetting Whitesnake's 1997 album 'Restless Heart', which while not the best was a worthy effort which was unfortunately released at a time when real ROCK was given no attention!! Plus it didn't get the promotion it should of had and thus feel into the Abyss?! It also gave Vandenberg the chance to play on an album. An opportunity which was robbed of him on 'Slip of the Tongue' due to a wrist injury! Now, I love Steve Vai and I do have an affection for 'Slip..' but understand that if Vandenberg had played on it, it may have been more 'Whitesnake' sounding and a better fit than Sir Vai.

I was also suprised to only count 20 tracks from 'Whitesnake' studio albums (including the new album)!? What a fun double CD that would be?! And that included a couple of bonus tracks added to 2006 remasters!! So I count 18 on the original releases! Also this includes the classic 'Looking for love' which amazingly was left off the US release!? So clearly there is even less 'Love in the heart of the US'!!!???

Just read my posted comment and see I forgot to actually include what I was suprised to only count 20 of??!! Tracks with 'LOVE' in the title was what I was driving at!! I'm obviously trying to forget what DC can't forget?!
