TAAKE Vs. KREATOR - Jan. 22, 2008
TAAKE frontman Hoest — whose "revealing" performance (photo#1, photo#2, photo#3) at the 2003 Inferno Festival in Norway remains the source of much comedy — has issued the following update:

"TAAKE will not be performing at the Karmøygeddon festival [set to take place April 25-26, 2008 at Byscenen in Haugesund, Norway] after all due to ruthless pressure put on the organizer from, among others, none other than KREATOR.

"Let it be said that this does not hurt TAAKE, as we are not at all doing this for the money. But it certainly hurts innocent parties like the promoter (who is now out of time to find a replacement and loses a lot of money), as well as our fans who bought expensive tickets to see us.

"I find it very regrettable that all you people are caught in the crossfire of this ridiculously unnecessary situation!

"Anyway, this reaction is obviously because of the swastika episode in KREATOR's hometown Essen during last year's TAAKE tour. [During TAAKE's March 20, 2007 concert in Essen, Germany, Hoest appeared on stage with a swastika symbol drawn on his chest (photo) — a move which didn't go over well with most of the fans and members of the heavy metal media who were present at the gig.]

"I've clearly stated that TAAKE IS CERTAINLY NOT A POLITICAL NAZI-BAND, yet some people seem to still insist that we are. It is not the first time such a situation has occured either; several German festival organizers had to give in to similar pressure last year, disappointing hundreds of people eager to watch us perform and cheating them out of their money. But doing this to a Norwegian band about to play at a Norwegian festival is way out of line.

"I do realize that it is rather unforgivable to display a swastika in Germany, yes. On the other hand I strongly feel that black metal bands should allow themselves to use ANY kind of destructive/negative symbolism, as the basis of this expression is above all: EVIL (!). Black metal is still not, and should never become, harmless like all other styles of housebroke metal.

"Frankly, I find it prepostrous that we get away with lyrics about murder, torture, rape, necrophilia and suicide, but get boycotted for wearing a symbol (which, by the way, has nothing to do with the band`s concept) on ONE single occasion.

"A part of our mission is to invoke negative feelings, so I found it quite appropriate to remind our German audience of their biggest shame. Some understood it and handled it well, whilst others overreacted far beyond expectance.

"It is embarassing to have to point out these things over and over again, but as usual humanity proves to be ignorant. We feel misunderstood.

"So, Guardians of Morality, feel very free to keep up your pathetic boycott, we don't mind being hated. But your extortion only affects innocent parties and you should be ashamed of yourselves!

"The behaviour of our self-proclaimed enemies is more similar to nazism than anything we've ever done."

TAAKE's third album, "Doedskvad", was released in 2005 via Dark Essence Records. The band had previously released two albums on the Wounded Love label: "Nattestid..." (1999) and "Bjoergvin" (2002). "Doedskvad" is the last installment in this trilogy.

If any of you morons would do some real research, you would know that the swastika was originally a symbol of good fortune and protection, but hey, who reads anymore, right? Now, was Hoest using that for that purpose? Of course not, but that's what metal has always been about. It was meant to piss the establishment off. Go cry in a hole if you will, but i'm sure most of the bands you all listen to are just as tasteless and obscene in their own right, or it wouldn't be metal. Hey, at least the guys got balls enough to be an asshole and try to provoke a response, where as you guys are all on here sitting in front of your computer about how the guy's not PC enough. Fucking losers.
Long live Taake!

...you fail in life.

Sure, the swastika was most likely used as a reactionary measure in Taake's behalf, rather than any measure of ancient symbolism - big mistake.

However, with stupid actions aside, Taake's music is killer.

Hoest is not doing this stuff to provoke a response, he is doing it to get notoriety. Repeatedly in interviews about this he states that Taake are not in it for the money. Its bullshit. Of course they are. If they weren't tickets to their shows would be free, their albums would all be free downloads, and they would all be doing something else.
Also, for such an "evil" bunch, they sure are concerned about the feelings of their fans who will be disappointed, and the promoters who lose money. Wait.. Money... there's that word again. Hmmm.. odd.
And yes, the swastika was used as a symbol of good fortune, but it was redrawn incorrectly and its meaning perverted. Much like the sunwheel cross, or the Mjolnir pendant.
At any rate, how od dthat he apologized for wearing the Swastika after the incident.
"... we truly apologize to all of our collaborators who might get problems because of the Essen swastika scandal "

Ooooh.. that's evil.

To say that you are not in it for the money means that you are doing it for free? What kind of logic do you use?

To say that you are not in it for the money MEANS that you are in it for the sake of it, for the love of the ART. Any retard would understand that some money income is NECCESSARY to keep on going, ¡but not to retire to an island to drink cocktails!

So TAAKE is in it for the money? Ha ha ha!!

Considering that Kreator has always been very anti-racism, it would be hypocritical for them to play with Taake.
Yes, I know Taake is not a racist band, but if anyone uses a swastika for the sake of notoriety, it's completely unreasonable to expect people to not be offended by it. If nobody would feel offended by seeing a swastika, then there wouldn't have been any reason for Hoest to have one on his chest.
It doesn't matter what a swastika actually means, since he didn't even say he was using it as an ancient symbol of luck or anything like that.

Not that I really care anyway. Never was too into Taake, and Kreator had released some of my favorite thrash/speed metal albums ever.

Defending a guy who draws a swastika on his chest in Germany and wonders why people get upset, BECAUSE ITS A SYMBOL OF HOLOCAUST AND TYRANNY! And it's also FASCIST FASCIST FASCIST.
Saying you're against nazism and then boycotting a band for wearing swastikas is as incoherent as you can get.
I LOVE Kreator's music AND THEIR LYRICS but I can only disagree with them and their really WRONG attitude.

How idiotic can you get? Touring costs money, printing cds costs money. Nobody wants to LOSE money, and there is a difference between being into music for the money and playing music and earning money COINCIDENTALLY.
Not only Taake are not into it for the money, NO METAL BAND IS.
Because if you wanna make money with music you most certainly DO NOT CHOOSE to play such an uncommercial, unpopular genre as METAL, let alone BLACK METAL.
God, how stupid can you get? Oh right, we're on blabbershite.

No problem man!

The fact is that I jump everytime I see someone saying something about money.
Either way saying that Black Metal bands are in it for the money (most of them have works and are "poor" people) or either way when someone said that consecrated bands (with retired sunbathing millionaire members) reunite "for the money".

I would also like to say to all Black Metal haters to do themselves a favour and listen to some Black Metal instead of repeating topics, rumors and lies.

I can easily tell what a tard YOU are, when you are stuck up on a minor grammar mistake in a statement like that. And why should I care for speed/trash metal?

What do you really know about Taake? Every single album they have released has gotten over 90% of 100% possible, that says it about their musicianship, Kreator has one album that is over 90%. But of course according to you, people that are judging Taake don't know shit, but everybody who listen to a sissy band crying over saomebody showing a swastika know what they are talking about?

Of me and a person listening to a band that cries out to their mommy and persons holding a festival because a perosn is waving a swastika, I think the latter one are the one that are fucking lame.

And of course when somebody is talking shit about your favourite band Kreator, that is ignorant and lame. You know what is retarded? When you FOLLOW a band blindly, and doing the exact same thing that hundred of thousands of others do. The you are a retard. then yuo are ignorant fuck, a simple minded low-life like you can and will never comprehend the greatness of something as a unique piece of art that is Black Metal.

In 10 years Hoest is still giving out strong albums, for all of the band he is involved in, while the guys from Kreator are probably eating their own shit, and wearing diapers in an retirement home for people over 60. Walking around saying things like: "We are so tough, we actually cried our eyes out to festival arranger becuase another band that was playing there were showing a swastika almost a year before, we really showed that evil BM, yeah that was the days"

And who is the biggest loser out of you and me? Let's just say it like this, I have a life outside of Blabbermouth, I don't live on the internet.

I don't feel any need for crying somethig to my pillow(I am fortunately not so weak), when I don't like something I don't say it through a third-person, unlike some weak minded individuals I know. *cough* Kreator *cough*

You see, unlike YOU, people into extreme metal dont' give a fuck what you think, what you say or what you do. And we certainly don't care for any of your metal mainstream music. Say what you want, this is the last reply you will get from me, I will be laughing my ass of while I read your respond.

And we both know that if you EVER had the chance to meet Hoest in person and give him a piece of your mind, you would be shaking like a leaf and pissing in your pants. You are so weak that you must hide behind a computer screen to even dare say something negative about him.
