Report: GUNS N' ROSES' 'Chinese Democracy' Album 'Was Finished Before Christmas'

UK's Classic Rock recently tracked down Beta Lebeis, personal manager of Axl Rose, who confirmed to the magazine that GUNS N' ROSES' "Chinese Democracy" album "was finished before Christmas." She added: "Everybody knows that." Lebeis said Axl is currently "in negotiations" with unspecified parties to arrange to album's on-sale date. However, Classic Rock believes that "Chinese Democracy" may not be "released" in the traditional sense — at least not initially. The magazine suspects that GN'R may follow the RADIOHEAD route of pay-as-you-like downloads. But the publications stresses that this has not been confirmed. Another source close to the GN'R camp also suggested that "Chinese Democracy" may gain a conventional release in late summer, with a view to it becoming "a big Christmas album."

This became a joke years ago. And it stopped being funny years ago. Honestly, watch some recent live footage. This is nothing more than a Vegas show about a band that existed 20 years ago and are now defunct. As well any respect or interest.

Anyway, I call BS on the pay what you want thing happening before a traditional release. With over $10,000,000 on this album (supposedly), that wouldn't make much sense.
Here's hoping Axl Rose kicks ass with a real 4-LP release, like S Back hinted at..

2008 may be the last big chance for the recording industry to rebound. In order for that to happen, they need a big Christmas. Why blow that chance with two records by Guns 'n Roses and Metallica that are guaranteed to sell a million a piece each in the first month. If the album was really crap, Geffen would have no problem releasing it right away, but if it is as good as we all hope (speaking of Metallica as well here), then it will be in stores no sooner (or later) than a week before Black Friday, with singles relesed to radio a month before.

Bands/ labels still spend MILLIONS to create an album
Most of us already own recording studios to some degree
The hip hop guys only need a computer, an audio interface, and a mic
Metal dudes like all of us need the above plus instruments
Now lets assume u r a professional and need pro equipment
100,000 dollars will get you mixing boards, pre amps, mics, and various items.
So why dont these bands BUY the studio and build it in the practice place or in their house or whatever.
For what Axl spent he could have built a studio and bought a building to put it in and OWN it.
The recording industry and studio owners are in denial

Nobody mentioned AXL's appearance on BACH's latest cd, but hearing him on there made me believe that he is entirely capable of making an album. Furthermore, this is how I think it'll run down:
AXL: "OK guys, I spoke to GNR original members and they all agreed for a reunion, especially with WEILAND's issues and seeing how VR is doing... Just makes more sense for Scott to go back to STP and that leaves my ex-band free to play again"
Nu GNR: "But AXL... we already recorded everything..."
AXL: "There will be no true GNR studio recording without the original lineup. Sorry guys, I'm remixing everything to include SLASH on axe and all the gang. So long, maybe see you on some other tour."

I heard album has cost so many millions that it may be nearly impossible for Axl to find a distribution deal. Since cd sales are at a bare minimum right now, album is a guaranteed loss of money. What's the point at this stage?

Even the worst country (this is official, by the way, Google it if you like) on earth doesn't suck as much as this non-existant album. Finished before christmas? Yes, very likely. I also heard this dumb broad claim that Steven Seagal will be the next president of the USA. It's about as likely. And Seagal will make Osama his VP.
On the bright side of things, we all know the album as well as Axl "Indiana boys just love other Indiana boys" Rose have been finished for years. Nobody gives a shit, because everybody in the industry knows Axl's got only one thing going for him and that's his crack habit. The album's about as finished as a 1982 Toyota Corolla that 2 seconds away from a crusher.

I love G'N'R seeing them live was one of the high lights of my year when they played Download but waiting for this album has bored me now so I don't believe it til I see it and I still bet it won't be for a long time if ever, the only thing is if it does come out it's gonna be amazing as I totally dig what i've heard of it and i'm putting it for album of the year when it does finally see the light of day.
