SEVENDUST Enlists CHRIS DAUGHTRY On New CD - Jan. 23, 2008
According to The Pulse of Radio, SEVENDUST has apparently enlisted Chris Daughtry and ALTER BRIDGE frontman Myles Kennedy to contribute guest vocals to the band's new album, "Hope and Sorrow". The names of the tracks featuring the singers have not yet been revealed. The 11-song effort, which was originally given the working title of "The 7th Chapter", is due out on April 1. The new CD will follow up "Alpha", which came out in March of 2007.

"Alpha" was released outside of the U.S. and Canada on November 12, 2007. The CD contains the original 12 songs plus the bonus track "The Rim" along with a brand new studio cut entitled "Abuse Me".

December 11, 2007 saw SEVENDUST open the vault on a three-year ride beginning in early January 2005 with the making of the album "Next", right up to the present with the release of "Retrospective 2"; a DualDisc CD/DVD pack. "Retrospective 2" features six live cuts and three brand new studio tracks on the CD and almost two hours of video footage on the DVD. The DualDisc is the second release on SEVENDUST's own 7 Bros. Records in conjunction with Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group. The collection includes videos from the hits "Ugly" and "Driven", the fury of one of rocks premier live performers captured on the tracks "Hero", "Silence", "Clueless" and "Alpha". But that's not all, embodied here are rare clips forever on display such as the unique Orlando question-and-answer event on the eve of the release of the record "Alpha", the New Year's Eve video of "The Rim", and as a special bonus, a comical episode of "Pete the A&R Guy" and what he has to say about the state of the DUST. This DVD and companion CD pack includes new audio tracks "Losing You" and "Sleeper", making this keepsake packaging a must for every SEVENDUST fan.

SEVENDUST's sixth studio album, "Alpha", came out in March and debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard album chart.

Former SEVENDUST axeman Clint Lowery spent most of 2007 touring as the session guitarist for KORN.

what are they thinking? Get someone like Ripper Owens or some other kick ass metal singer with balls, not a pop artist.

I love sevendust and own all their CDS, but come on, that is lame. What a sad day for metal. Maybe the new DARK NEW DAY will make up for it.

The ol story of "If your album doesn't sell then Enlists someones who does" :)

Got to give um Kudos for at least finding a way to cash in on the Trillions of pop dollars!

I love Sevendust too, but I have to admit that I don't like the sound of this. It reeks a little bit of desperation. I personally don't hold either one of those singers in very high regard.

Oh well, I'll try to withhold judgement until I actually hear the new album. They've had guest vocalists plenty of times before, with mostly positive results. I LOVE Skin's guest vocals on the song "Licking Cream"!

Didn't see that one coming...still, sounds pretty cool to me...they can't please everyone but I'd be willing to bet that they could care less...the new Alter Bridge album kicks ass...and Daughtry's debut is actually a pretty solid rock record...now I'm really looking forward to this album...to each their own I guess...

Here's $5 that says that the song with Daughtry will be the first radio single.

Honestly, I like Sevendust. I respected them, but this is really pushing the limits of cheesiness. It reeks of trying to cash in...although they DO deserve to cash in, just not in this way.

They've been doing this now for over 10 years (S/T released in 1997)...and lasted a lot longer then a lot of people would've expected...but wow.

I know everyone is going to be up in arms about this, but I really don't see the problem. Daughtry's got some good pipes. Just because he was on a TV show and has sold millions of records doesn't change that fact.

The Patriots "selling out" and signing Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Duante Stallworth. And what happened to them?

Myles Kennedy and Chris Daughtry are two of today's most talented vocalists. I actually cannot wait to see what they add to Sevendust. At the end of the day, it is a business, and you have to put out the best product possible.

just proves that as much as you guys dont want to admit it - music is NOT- a competition and these guys are friends "SLASH" helped out on one or maybe two of Daughtry's best tracks
ITS NOT called selling out for SEVENDUST - its called

7dust rules, no doubt about it. one of the most brilliant bands to date. they are original and always put on one hell of a show. i think the addition of the 2 vocalasts will and a new depth o their music. if u dont like them u must not be a fan of good music. go listen to good charlot or some other crap band and leave them alone. always haten on them, i bet u wish u had half the talent of this band. posers

Quit your fucking bitching. Daughty has a very good voice and the new 7D is going to kick ass, no matter who's on it. I like Myles Kennedy even better. Having these guys team up with Lajon on these songs can only have a good outcome.

if you are listening to music because you consider it a product and a business model you don't get it and you need to destroy all your cds and try something different...

First let me say that I love and own all types of rock/metal music, be it from Slayer to Mudvayne to Deicide down to the 3 bands listed above. To all the people that are talking good about Sevendust but hating on Myles and Chris Daughtry, you obviously show how much of a music lover you are. If you love music so much then why would you knock them for letting them sing on their album. In my opinion Sevendust, Alter Bridge and Daughtry are all fairly similar sounding bands. Yes Sevendust has a harder edge to them but they have just as much if not more melody on their albums then the other 2. All I am saying is that you should listen to what people do before voicing an unknowing opinion. Daughtry's album is a very good album and he has a great rock voice. He definitely is not metal but I don't consider Sevendust metal either. Just check music out before you say you hate it. Idiots...

SIRHOGNUTS1........YOU sound like to one who is lame..not Daughtry..........you obviously have no taste in music. For Daughtry's first CD (which went MULTI platinum by the way).... it has sold the most CD's for 2007. He won 3 AMA awards and will be winning grammy's for his CD very soon.....THEY made a GREAT choice in choosing Daughtry......
