Doom Legend SCOTT 'WINO' WEINRICH To Release Solo Album

Legendary guitarist Scott "Wino" Weinrich (SAINT VITUS, THE OBSESSED, SPIRIT CARAVAN, PLACE OF SKULLS, THE HIDDEN HAND) has an album's worth of "solo" recordings in the works. Assisting Wino during the sessions are Jean-Paul Gaster (CLUTCH) on drums and Jon Blank (REZIN) on bass. Entitled "Punctuated Equilibrium", the album is being recorded with J. Robbins (producer of THE HIDDEN HAND's "Mother Teacher Destroyer") in Maryland and is tentatively due later in the year via Southern Lord Recordings.
Commented Wino: "'Punctuated Equilibrium' will bring my career into focus."

Disrespect for Wino is akin to masturbating with razorblades. It only hurts you and convinces no one you're cool. Kind of like listening to Atreyu. Whatever metal means to you, Wino has probably done it harder, meaner and first, unless you are in Black Sabbath, Judas Priest or Atomic Rooster. The Obsessed soldiered on for metal when punk was the ruling flavor of aggression. They played with the Bad Brains, Black Flag and Fugazi in the late 70's and early 80's. The punks laughed at them, screaming "Spinal Tap" and "hair cut". But their unflinching old school metal eventually earned the respect of punks. Henry Rollins and Ian Mackaye are huge fans. So is Phil Anselmo, who claimed that Pantera never would have sounded the same without the Obsessed. Look up The Obsessed documentary youtube. Listen to Henry Rollins talking about fearing for his life until Wino complemented him on his Motorhead patch. Hear Lee Dorian(|Napalm Death, Cathedral) being petrified of doing drugs with Wino because he licked speed of the blade of a knife to get it in his system quicker. Bands bitch all the time about the record companies not paying them, Wino is the only artist that I am aware of to brandish a weapon to demand his pay. It's cool if you don't like this 30 year+ metal lifer, it just means you're not that into metal. And you pee like a girl.

this should be good, Wino is the man !! i love every recording this guy has done except I must admit the latest Hiddenhand record.
Wino is way due to play Cleveland have not been here since 2002 with Spirit Caravan

I can't wait to hear this album! As well as the Shrinebuilder album. Watching Wino play live was an incredible experience, he's a WAY better guitarist than he gets credit for!!!

while i've definitely met Wino (10 years ago), I know Jon Blank also from a few years back...you guys need a 2nd guitarist on this recording? LOL j/k

Wino is a total class act on top of being one of the best guitar players out there,This is gonna be incredible. He deserves more success the gets. Listen to The Obsessed or Spirit Caravan and tell me you don't get chills I dare you

decibel did an interesting interview with him a couple months back where he talked about being junked out and homeless for a while, wandering the streets and only eating a hamburger every other day. also talks about where he got the inspiration for st. vitus' 'i bleed black'. this guy is hardcore.

having been a fan of Wino since 1979/1980, (DEMOS, THE OBSESSED, SPIRIT CARAVAN, PLACE OF SKULLS, THE MYSTICK KREWE OF CLEARLIGHT EP, & THE HIDDEN HAND) i simply can't wait for this to be released. BRING IT ON!!
