VAN HALEN: 'Runnin' With The Devil' Isolated Vocal Track Available - Jan. 25, 2008
A highly entertaining isolated vocal track of David Lee Roth singing VAN HALEN's "Runnin' with the Devil" is available for download at this location (courtesy of WFMU).

VAN HALEN's tour with original lead singer David Lee Roth — featuring Roth, Eddie and Alex Van Halen and Eddie Van Halen's teenage son Wolfgang on bass — kicked off Sept. 27 in Charlotte, N.C., with 40 dates in place.

The current tour is Roth's first with the Van Halen brothers in more than 20 years. VAN HALEN last toured in 2004 with vocalist Sammy Hagar, grossing nearly $40 million, according to Billboard Boxscore.

i always thought it would be cool if a band did this, gave you the guitar, drum, vocals, bass, etc, tracks separately and let you mix them. haha pretty nerdy and nonpractical but would be cool as a special special edition.......

It always bewildered me when people would say that Dave didn't have a good voice, or state as an undeniable truth that Sammy's shredded screech was clearly superior. The guy is a legend for a reason, and no VH song he ever sang on would have been nearly as good without his voice and his style.

this is what you call FEEL and ATTITUDE. Maybe someone in these new metal metalcore emo bands that are all trying or pretending to play and be real metal will listen and learn!

I know when you isolate any performance track, you can hear a ton of imperfections that blend out with the rest of the tracks.

So it is amazing how great he sounds isolated like that. People who say he is a lousy singer don't know what they are talking about.

It's cool how when he hits the high notes, there are like two different notes at the same time. Not many people have that gift, it's like he's singing his own harmony. Cool stuff!

This is really funny. They should do more of these. Without the music it sounds ridiculous.

This IS the original version! Most of the posts above are saying this is an example of how good Dave sounds today - some even say it sounds close to the original recording! THIS IS THE ORIGINAL RECORDING! They isolated the track and there it is. If they isolate a current live vocal track from this tour - BELIEVE ME it will NOT sound like this.

This is actually pretty hilarious, but it does also showcase Roth's singing abilities. I do believe Hagar is still the better singer (and I also prefer his years in VH to Roth's) but it's cool to hear Roth's vocals sounding terrific despite having no music to mask imperfections.

He's DLR...he needs no validation whatsoever from anyone. He's a legend. And he once said "the second time, is usually, a little bit longer."

When Dave was sexy and rocked the house.

If he did this now he would of put his queer sounding end notes and make the song gay.

I think that the Van Halen of 2008 isn't really Van Halen, they are just kind of like a museum or freak show circus act going around displaying what Van Halen was or use to be, but not is anymore?

You need new material to be successful and to be real.

Your nothing more than a glamorous Karaoke act.

COMMENT | Its not David Lee Roth
