OPETH Mainman Returns To BLOODBATH

Swedish death metal supergroup BLOODBATH has issued the following update: "So the time has come for BLOODBATH to once again poison the scene with a contagious doze of über brutal death metal. An old acquaintance in this zombified bloodline has once again re-visited his old home. We can now announce that the vocalist on the new mini-CD is none other than Mikael Åkerfeldt courtesy of OPETH. "Second deathster to join the elite is Mr. Per 'Sodomizer' Eriksson (ex- 21 LUCIFERS, ex- GENOCRUSH FEROX). Sodomizer's brutal death metal songwriting approach as well as guitar shredding is a highly welcomed element in the legacy of BLOODBATH." BLOODBATH 2008 is: Mikael Åkerfeldt - Vocals Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström - Guitar Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson - Guitar Jonas Renkse - Bass Martin "Axe" Axenrot – Drums Check out a photo of the new lineup at this location. BLOODBATH's latest album, "Nightmares Made Flesh", received a U.S. release in March 2005 via Century Media Records. Due to the long gap between the European and North American release dates, the American version was enhanced with two bonus songs taken from a previously unreleased demo recording of "Breeding Death" EP, as well as a different front cover, featuring artwork by Wes Benscoter. Personally I liked Nightmares Made Flesh more, not to take anything away from Resurection Through Carnage. Both albums were absolutely amazing. Some of the best death metal ever made. I fucking love this band.

Dont' get me wrong I like Opeth but Mikael's voice doesn't fit Bloodbath well

Bring back Swano! The songs that he wrote on their last album were by far my favorite. Anything he touches turns out amazing.
I'm not saying Bloodbath is no good now, I am very fucking excited for this new lineup... But I think things would be a lot better if Dan was still in the band.

Dan Swano is a legendary death metal musician. If it weren't for EOS and his influence, Opeth and Katatonia would sound staggeringly different than they both do today. One listen to Opeth's MAYH and Katatonia's Brave Murder Day are clear evidence of this. Swano's magnum opus Crimson is the benchmark by which all other "artsy" death metal is judged and without his musical intricacies in Bloodbath, they are just another gravel-throated angry-for-no-reason death metal band from "up there is the cold cities of Sweden".
No Swano? No $$$ from me. I'll wait for his answer to being kicked out of Bloodbath... which should come in the form of a far better, more complex and more challenging metal release (ie: Moontower).

Swano's a better fit for Bloodbath. Mikael should stick to Opeth. Bloodbath and Opeth are about equal, at least in terms of quality, in their respective genres. It's all pretty good shit.

YES!!! This is good news. Loved mikaels work with bloodbath, definitely my favorite death vocalist of all time. I mean, you can actually hear what hes saying unlike 99% of the other typical gore metal vocalists.
