TRIVIUM: New Album To Be Produced By NICK RASKULINECZ
- Jan. 30, 2008
|
|
During an interview with Metal Injection conducted at this year's NAMM show in Anaheim, TRIVIUM vocalist and lead guitarist Matt Heafy revealed new details about about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the group's new album, tentatively due before the end of the year via Roadrunner Records. "We started demoing after Family Values, like October," he said. "We started writing some songs, demoing them. The demo quality is so good it sounds like a real album, which is awesome, so it gives us a really good basis to compare and fix shit, so we've been revising and going back in and changing shit up. We're doing another set of demos. I think we're probably going to have 30 songs to pick from and we're working with Nick Raskulinecz [ FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH, VELVET REVOLVER, SHADOWS FALL, STONE SOUR]." The entire clip can be viewed below. In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, TRIVIUM guitarist Corey Beaulieu stated about the upcoming CD, "We want to capture the best ingredients of everything we've done. Each song has a little bit of everything, going between something heavy and then melodic, and then back to something heavy. So it has a really interesting balance. On 'The Crusade', Matt did almost all singing, so this time we're bringing back some of the screaming that's on 'Ascendancy'." "I'm also trying new things vocally," Heafy added. "Live, I've been able to really push the high vocal part of my range in the style of Rob Halford. So maybe I'll put some of that on the album."

Erik Rutan of Hate Eternal could produce it, and it would still sound like garbage.

dxf : they arent good enough to have flemming rasmussen, he'd probably turn them down. flemming did a great job with the uk band Evile, but they're real Thrash.

I liked the last cd myself. And though there's similarities, I don't think they sound as much like Metallica as some people feel they do.

Ascendancy was OK. Then when I bought "The Crusade" I thought it was really boring, ending up selling it for 4$
Maybe they can put together a solid CD. These guys can play guitar great. just need to sound more unique.
BFMV and Trivium=The Same ATM.

i think all three albums offer something different, i mean its very hard as a musician to think of stunning songs that are going to blow shit up, so they have my respect (not that they need it or want it, or would ever see this post) and i hold them in a high view for breathing some life into the metal world. Not many people can argue with Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr. and if you do your a liar.

i dont know why its the cool thing to hate Trivium.....ive missed them in concert sooo many times since the crusade's been out. i heard they havent been to good live lately but their albums are incredible. people dont know good music and they are definitely talented. i like all 3 albums and im really looking forward to the next(especially since its suppossed to be a mix between all of them, and the screams are coming back). sure the vocals took a while to get used to on the latest album but its a good cd - except the corny ass rising song, and at times a few other songs could get annoying.

Definitely one of the biggest problems in metal, that. Plenty of bands that are pretty good or decent, but you just don't find a new Peace Sells... But Who's Buying type records out there. Something that would really stand above the rest 20 years from now. In 2028 I doubt anyone will even remember Trivium. I'm willing to bet they'll be like a Tuff for the 2000's. Just too generic.

I hope Heafy tries out every little inhuman squeal noise he can make with his vocal chords. It'll provide me with much more to laugh at when the record comes out. The Crusade was too awful to be funny.

i don't hold trivium amongst metal gods like slayer, pantera, metallica and death, but they're definetly a solid band. say what you will about Heafy's vocals...i personally dont think they're exceptional, but neither are Randy Rampage's...but Alice in Hell is still an awesome album. Beaulieu and Heafy are damn solid guitarists, and i find no qualms in the songwriting on The crusade.
Now, Heafy's fucked. Trivium is overblown by the metal press, and since they sell and are more popular than (insert random tech death metal band here), the so-called 'metal community' chastizes them. If heafy pushes his range up to halford levels of ear-piercing...doesnt matter what the rest of the music sounds like, they're priest clones...and if heafy returns to the growl, "he's just a poser!"...i bleed fucking metal, but sometimes so-called metalheads are so fucking asenine it hurts.

Trivium are a solid band, solid guitar work solid everything and they write their own lyrics, learn something about a band before you go bitching about them in ignorance.
No they are not the next metallica there will never be another metallica, they've never said they where metallica although heafys said he's a huge fan thus some parts of their music will sound slightly like metallica. aside from that they are doing their own thing, Go listen to becoming the dragon and tell me that shit isn't thrash, go listen to the cursade and try and say they haven't done anything decent and don't bloody condemn the sound of their new album to what producer they have that's ridiculous, that's like saying the next metallica album is gonna sound like license to ill..seriously.
