STONE TEMPLE PILOTS To Perform At Ohio's ROCK ON THE RANGE? - Feb. 1, 2008
According to HardDrive Radio, the reunited STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will perform at the Rock on the Range on May 17 in Columbus, Ohio.

VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash recently confirmed to Billboard.com that VELVET singer Scott Weiland will reunite with his previous band, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, for a short series of shows this summer. Slash did not offer any other details and there has yet to be official word from STONE TEMPLE PILOTS themselves. Weiland broke the news last month at a benefit in Florida, telling the Miami Herald to watch out for an STP reunion in the months ahead. VELVET REVOLVER is touring now in support of last year's "Libertad" album and plans to begin work on its third record this spring.

Although STONE TEMPLE PILOTS broke up in 2002 under less than friendly circumstances, both Weiland and guitarist Dean DeLeo have said that the band members are all on good terms now. Weiland even told The Pulse of Radio he could envision making another STP album. "We were never a band that felt like we needed to lean too hard onto our muscle," he said. "We always felt like we had enough beauty and enough finesse in our music, you know, while we were together, that could carry us into a long career. So for us to make a record at an older age doesn't seem like a stretch, you know, 'cause we were never all about brawn."

The last STP album, "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", came out in 2001. The band's initial success in the early and mid-'90s was derailed in the latter part of the decade by Weiland's well-documented drug problems and arrests.

I think he should go hand out with Britny and get his head examined...what kind of a guy leaves a kick ass band like Velvet to go back to something that didn't work twice before (STP). the last album tanked and whose to say another one will do anything. STP were great but that was the 90's. VR was all about the new millenium...keep it going Scott...you have a good thing with VR...or just do these reunion shows to put STP to bed finally...geeze...

As shitty as Columbus is for shows, most of the time, this year's proving to be pretty nice:

Going to see All That Remains/Chimaira next week and High On Fire, Black Dahlia Murder, and Dimmu/Behemoth all have shows scheduled.

In the past few months I've seen Soulless, Gwar/Cradle, and Genesis (yeah I know, they're not metal...but it was a great show). It beats driving to Cleveland all the time.

If this STP reunion is true, I'm all over it.

Glad they are back. Core and Purple and tiny music still get their regular spins from me. Hope to catch them live this year. Saw them on their first tour and every other one that came after it.

Velvet Revolver... gee, what a waste.

no to mention the name itself...
velvet revolver... guns n roses... l.a. guns...
creativity lacks large. stick to the formula.

Go Weiland, back to where you belong, making GREAT MUSIC.

I'VE SEEN STP A FEW TIMES. TRUELY A GREAT BAND. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL GET THE MAGIC BACK THAT THEY ONCE HAD. ROCK ON THE RANGE WAS AN INCREDIBLE EVENT LAST YEAR. THE GENERAL ADMISSION PRICE OF LIKE $50.00 HAD TO BE THE CONCERT DEAL OF THE YEAR.THEY DID OVERCHARGE ON THE BEER, AND THE TIME IT TOOK TO GET IN THE STADIUM WAS TERRIBLE. BUT I'LL GO AGAIN.
