REFUSED Tribute Album On The Way - Feb. 2, 2008
No Sleep Records has announced an upcoming tribute album to the legendary (and long-defunct) Swedish cult band REFUSED. "Rather be… A Tribute to Refused" will feature bands of various genres, hoping to create great renditions of already amazing songs. The CD is currently without a release date, but is expected in late 2008/early 2009.

If you think you have what it takes to capture the energy, emotion and raw beauty of REFUSED, send an email to ratherbe@nosleeprecs.com with your name, band name, music link and any other information about your band. Please include what song you would like to cover (or totally ruin). Please DO NOT send any MP3s with your e-mail submission.

Visit NoSleepRecs.com for more information.

COMMENT | Isn't this kinda against what Refused would want?

I mean, if you read the last message, the best thing you could do in their eyes was not worship them, burn their photos, etc.....

Oh well, maybe some good songs will come of this...I wanna see band list. If it's brocore bands turning "Rather Be Dead" into a hardcore dance karate kick marathon, I'd rather just throw on the real song.

I hope Refused reunites so I can throw some bacon on them.

"The Shape Of Punk To Come" is one of the best rock/metal/whatever records of the 20th century.

The songwritong, production and mixing is just absolutely perfect from start to finish.

What's the use of trying to reproduce songs from a band who already almost reached perfection ?

Good luck anyway...

I couldn't get into this band. They sounded like a louder version of Oasis and not in a good way. And I hated Oasis. Sorry.

On behalf of the entire Scandinavian metal fanbase, I apologize.

Although I think this does go against the principles of Refused's music, I think it'll be interesting to see what the selected bands come up with. I always like hearing new interpretations of music I already love.

this should be lame, most of these tribute albums blow. They have bands that crap out albums trying to duplicate what was once already done. If they would actually grab talented bands like the mars volta, converge, hella, the bronx or the locust I would be really interested but I'm leaning on atreyu, underoath, as i lay dying, or someother crapcore commercial band being chosen instead.

COMMENT | Loved the Refused...

..but this is a lame idea. There aren't any vocalists IMHO, that could do this. You guys are right as well, it's totally against any thing that the Refused would want. I believe this could be a record label's last attempt to make a buck off them. "The shape..." is easily one of my fav punk albums ever and I just don't want to hear anyones second rate coverage of it.
