VELVET REVOLVER's Australian Tour Going Ahead? - Feb. 8, 2008
VELVET REVOLVER's Australian tour will go ahead as planned despite the fact that the group's frontman, Scott Weiland, has just gone back into rehab, Australian promoter Chris O'Brien told Undercover News. "We have not been told that the tour has been affected and right now I can say that it is still 100% going ahead," O'Brien said.

The Australian tour — which is set to kick off February 15 — was originally scheduled to take place in December but was postponed and the Japanese tour was cancelled because of visa problems.

In a statement released late last night (and first published by BLABBERMOUTH.NET), VELVET REVOLVER's management confirmed that Weiland "voluntarily entered a rehab facility" following the band's February 6 performance in Los Angeles. As a result, Thursday night's scheduled performance in San Diego was cancelled.

Weiland was arrested on November 21, 2007 when he crashed his car while driving on an L.A. highway.

He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs with a prior conviction, and with an allegation that he refused a chemical test as required by law.

Although he was supposed to perform with VELVET REVOLVER on January 20 at a party in Park City, Utah during the Sundance Film Festival, Weiland was a no-show for the gig. The vocalist's flight to Utah was diverted because of bad weather. The band carried on with the show, inviting audience members and singer Donovan Leitch to pitch in.

VELVET REVOLVER's Australian tour dates are:

Feb. 15 - Convention & Exhibition Centre - Brisbane, Australia
Feb. 16 - Enmore Theatre - Sydney, Australia
Feb. 17 - Enmore Theatre - Sydney, Australia
Feb. 19 - Festival Hall - Melbourne, Australia
Feb. 20 - Thebarton Theatre - Adelaide, Australia

i think anyone could step in and be a front man for that band. They'll be gone and onto new projects by the end of the year.

"Angel Down" kicks ass. If Baz wasn't so busy pounding Axl's pud he should be in either V.R. or Anthrax.

I had the misfortune of witnessing the VR show in Austin last week and it was one of the absolute worst concerts that I've ever seen. I was furious with myself for wasting so much money on such a mediocre band.

Slash and Duff need to dissolve VR and contact Axl asap.

Except for the fact that they wouldn't let me because I'd be trying to rewrite the songs to make them good.

I'd rather deal with a drugged up Weiland than deal with a whiney ass diva like Sebastian.

"Hey guys, now that I'm in the band.....I'm thinking we should change the band's name from Velvet Revolver to Velvet ANIMAL.....I like the way it rolls off the tongue."

Besides, Sebastian is still waiting for a Gilmore Girls reunion, considering "Angel Down" only sold 24,000 CDs.

Andrew at melodicrock.com has posted a message from a source of this that claims Weiland has been fired from VR. We can hope this is the case. Practically any established hard rock singer would be better than Weiland.

Velvet Revolver is a great band and their last cd was one of the best of last year. it was very different then what they have done before and that is very good, of course i would have liked another Appetite but just please move on, they are making great music doing what they want. real fans want to hear new music not just the old songs for some nostalgia. if you dont like them dont listen to them just go and listen whatever's on radio or supposed to be good. at least they didnt take that road and make an album just for it to sound radio friendly and shit like that. real music fans understand that and want their bands to keep on making NEW music but thats the main problem of getting to famous, you are always stuck with the fucking so called hits.
