VELVET REVOLVER Cancels Australian Tour - Feb. 10, 2008
According to Undercover News, VELVET REVOLVER has cancelled this week's Australian tour, just days after singer Scott Weiland voluntarily entered a rehab facility.

As of late last week, the Aussie shows were still planned to go ahead, according to promoter Chris O'Brien, but today the band has pulled out of the tour.

The official statement from KWS Productions reads as follows: "VELVET REVOLVER regret to announce they're unable to perform their five upcoming concert dates in Australia that were scheduled for February 15-20. The cancellation of these shows will allow lead singer Scott Weiland to continue treatment at a rehab facility which he voluntarily entered after the band's February 6 performance in Los Angeles. VELVET REVOLVER deeply apologize to their fans in Australia and thank them for sticking by the group when various members have relapsed during the last year and a half. The band — lead vocalist Scott Weiland, guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Matt Sorum and guitarist Dave Kushner — are on track to perform at the Dubai Desert Rock Fest in Dubai, UAE on March 8, to be followed by their UK tour March 15-27."

Tickets can be taken back to point of purchase for a refund.

Weiland was arrested on November 21, 2007 when he crashed his car while driving on an L.A. highway.

He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs with a prior conviction, and with an allegation that he refused a chemical test as required by law.

According to MTV.com, Weiland has been arrested multiple times over the past decade for a variety of drug offenses in California and New York, and has spent time in jail on several occasions. He was arrested in 2003 in Hollywood after a traffic accident and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, though those charges were eventually dismissed after he successfully completed a drug rehab program and submitted to drug tests.

Weiland recently the Miami Herald to be on the lookout for a STONE TEMPLE PILOTS reunion in the months ahead. The band members are reportedly on good terms again after their less than friendly break-up in 2002, and Weiland told The Pulse of Radio a while back that he wouldn't rule out getting back together. "I think that there is always that distinct possibility," he said. "I have to say it would never come in the way of VELVET REVOLVER, but I don't think that the story has been completely told. I'm unhappy with the ending of the story."

Although he was supposed to perform with VELVET REVOLVER on January 20 at a party in Park City, Utah during the Sundance Film Festival, Weiland was a no-show for the gig. The vocalist's flight to Utah was diverted because of bad weather. The band carried on with the show, inviting audience members and singer Donovan Leitch to pitch in.

I wish that Scott would have entered rehab before the band hit Texas so that I could have obtained a refund!

I've been to two of their shows, and Scott looks and sounds like shit in this one, he was good at the ones i saw though, and the reunions would just get screwed up, someone else would relapse and those tours would be scrapped too.

have relapsed in the last year and a half? I heard about Slash, but who else?

Why would you want this band to quit now? Who else is going to wave the flag? But oh yeah, I forgot. There are so many other great rock bands on the radio nowadays, it wouldnt really matter, right? I mean, c'mon...we've got Seether, Nickelback, Foo Fighters, Three Days Grace...oh yeah, rock radio is on fire!

I know all of you are going to say radio sucks anyways, so who cares anyways. And that's true - the radio does suck. But VR are one of the few bands that still bring the true rock n roll grit to the masses. They gotta stay around for a long time. True that Libertad didnt exactly sell great, but I think their 3rd will be their "ZOSO", "Toys In The Attic" or "Highway To Hell." You watch.

the STP reunion. That's a good thing, however since his demons come and go, I think he should take care of himself and leave the spotlights for a while.

The STP reunion can be delayed imo. It doesn't need to happen this year. They split a few years ago. Who cares if it happens in 2-3 years anyway?

VR should go on with a bad ass singer and release a pure rock and roll record. John Corabi or John Bush could kick some serious ass.

Scott Weiland is very disturbing to watch on stage. The only person I know as annoying as him on stage is Gary Cherone. Fuck him and Velvet Revolver.

And Guns n Roses made one good album. Use Your Illusions was a big bloated piece of whale shit. Snake Pit sucked as well.

I wouldnt be surprised Scott doesnt have a drug problem. I remember back in the day he would always get arrested right before a STP album was going to be released. Now that Libertad has bombed he's been arrested for DUI and now in Rehab.

Its the only was he can keep his name in the news.

Slash. Now that fucker was always fucked up. Drinking bottols of jack everywhere he went.

I have yet to see Scott drinking even a beer on camera.

He seems sober to me. He just acts like a junkie.

And now a very good actor at that

drug use is not a disease, it's a behavioral disorder.

the only way to truly kick a habit like that is to totally change your life. In Weiland's case, that means retire, dump the old lady, move to the hills, and get away from everyone and everybody he knows, since they either encourage or enable him in one way or another.

You know how fucking hard it is to keep drugs, druggies, booze, and alchoholics away from musicians and crew guys? They have to be well grounded to being with, and if they're not, they're hopeless.

We all know the reason Weiland is checking himself into rehab just when the STP reunion rumors get confirmed, is because STP is his meal ticket.

He isn't getting clean for the long term nor is he getting clean to remain in Velvet Revolver. He is getting clean so he can make some big bucks for the STP reunion. Because he knows that Velvet Revolver doesn't sell anywhere NEAR what STP did.

So he is getting clean so when the DeLeo brothers and Eric Kretz come calling, he won't fuck up his big payday!!!!!

fuck weiland and fuck velvet revolver. i find it quite ironic that slash throughout his book slates axl for not caring about fans and turning up late to gigs, bla bla bla. maybe axl wasn't so bad, maybe slash was to blame??! maybe the band just can't be bothered coming down to oz - dec cancellation was late and bad enough but this is shite - if you can't be arsed coming, don't bother selling tickets in the first place. as for stp reunion - i wouldn't bother lads - you were rubbish the first time round - whats changed, your singer certainly hasn't

Given it's Scott Weilend, is anyone surprised that he smashes his car because he's loaded & wasted?

Still, I think it speaks volumes that Slash, Duff, and Matt would rather work with a junkie who's permanant address is the rehab clinic than try to write with Axl.

After all, with Scott, you know that if he shows up, you will playa show....if he doesn't show up, there may not be a show (unless they find fans to sing)....

With Axl, you have to wait until midnight to find out if there was a show or not; and even if there was, you had no idea how many songs you were going toplay until Axl walked off the stage.

Which is worse for your career? A prima donna singer who doesn't give a sh*t about fans/bandmates; or a singer who can't stay clean & sober?

I met Slash the night after the Gibson show back in Dec. he was at the Cat Club for some show to benefit some scenester. Anyway, he looked and acted sober, and neither Slash, Kush or Billy Duffy (dude looked old as shit!) had any alcohol that I could see. He actually did a pretty damn good job on stage that night, ripping through some SRV covers. Anyway, I totally agree that Weiland is dragging this band down. He hasn't sounded or looked good since the second STP record. But I do want to like VR. They really are the only band to wave the flag right now. After them, the closest we really have is Silvertide, A7x and Airbourne. Maybe Buckcherry. Now that wouldn't be half bad come to think of it. Jason Todd fronting VR. I'd pay to see that.

Is this website the Guns N' Roses fansite? I think so. Everyone is still hoping that Axl comes around and decides to get back with the old original bandmates. I totally thought they rocked too! I agree as well BUT come on! It's not 1988 anymore people! Stop living like it is! It's 2008! Velvet Revolver is rocking out and STP will soon reunite! Each and every band member in VR are great together! When STP perform this summer they will rock out as well! Scott has great vocal range and he is a great stage performer! Props to both bands! Soo when is Chinese Democracy coming out?? Who knows. Anywho..GNR is awesome too but so is STP and VR and I will be looking foward to seeing them both in concert!!!
