DUFF MCKAGAN's LOADED To Release New Album This Summer - Feb. 12, 2008
LOADED, the band formed by current VELVET REVOLVER bassist Duff McKagan (on guitar and vocals) after he left GUNS N' ROSES, is currently working on a new, yet-to-be-titled studio album, to be released in the summer, with tours to follow.

LOADED was formed in 1999 and has morphed several times, releasing two albums: 1999's "Live Episode" and 2001's "Dark Days". The group's current lineup includes drummer Geoff Reading (NEW AMERICAN SHAME, GREEN APPLE QUICKSTEP), bassist Jeff Rouse and guitarist Mike Squires (both formerly of ALIEN CRIME SYNDICATE).

VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash recently told Billboard.com that he is ready to make the group's third record sooner rather than later, hoping to avoid the two-and-a-half year gap between the band's 2004 debut, "Contraband", and last year's sophomore effort, "Libertad". The band is touring until April, and the guitarist said that they're likely to hit the studio right after that. "I'm really jazzed about doing it," he said. "I've, you know, been working on new ideas, and had a couple times where the guys all got together and worked on some stuff. I'm itching to see what this third record's gonna be, 'cause I think it's gonna be awesome, and I think that we don't need to necessarily spend two years on the road like we did last time."

Slash said that the group did not have any songs in finished form, but only basic ideas and arrangements.

VELVET REVOLVER's exact recording plans for its third effort could be affected by singer Scott Weiland's recent announcement that a reunion of his previous group, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, was on tap for later this year.

This doesn't look very promising for the future of Velvet Revolver. Duff recording an album and touring with Loaded??? Scott Weiland doing an STP reunion. I'm thinking this doesn't end well for VR.

i dug loaded, that was by far the best thing Duff had done post gn'r, prior to vr anyway. i'd look forward to another disc, dark days was a good cd.....but i'm also thinking this sure isn't looking good for vr. i'd love to hear them at least go out with something stronger than libertad though....contraband smoked it.

Seems like there is something brewing inside the camp of VR.

You also notice how Slash and Duff have both had nothing but good things to say about Axl. Two to three years ago if a reporter would ask anything about a GNR reunion they shot it down before the question could be answer. It wasn't even in realm of happen. Now seems like they've warmed up to the idea of a reunion. Matt Sorum seems to have always been up for it. Adler's a mess and I doubt they'd even try it with him. The guy seems to be a lost casue and unfortunately seems to be on that path to being the next dead rock star.

This all kind of has Motley Crue vibe to it from about four or five years or so ago. Just think if Motley just got 100 million for three albums and a tours over the next ten years just think what GNR would get. 500 million plus I don't think is out of the question. Won't surprise if a number like that is the cause of all this "reunion would be nice if things could get worked out" talk we've been hearing. End of the day money talks.

Even if VR breaks up, I don't think the GNR reunion is happening anytime soon. After reading Slash's book, I think that until Axl is willing to treat the rest of the guys as bandmates and not session players, there won't be a reunion. Don't get me wrong, I'd give my left arm to see a GNR reunion. But, I would say it won't happen for another 10 years at the very earliest.

There will NEVER, I repeat NEVER be a Guns N Roses reunion. Axl doesn't need the money and doesn't like these guys enough to mess with it again. People shouldn't dwell on this any longer.

It's good that Duff is keepin' busy outside the VR project. Also AMAZING news that STP could have a reunion, I'd much rather listen to them than the new VR stuff. I mean their good but not STP good.
Bad since VR is probably gonna break-up; like demonlager said, it would be nice to see VR go out with a BANG!

"Watch LOADED performing the song "Seattle Head" in Tokyo, japan:"

If you look closely at those edits, this isn't a regular live performance. It's a montage of some kind, that was very much edited. A lot of those shots don't naturally follow each other. So I wonder how much of the actual performance we're hearing is live. Still, it's a great song. And how does this guy look younger today than he did 15 years ago?

The "Dark Days" cd was pretty good.
I hope the new stuff is heavier and more aggressive though.

That must be a whole new experience for everybody who is or previously was involved in Guns n“Roses.

It still makes me laugh how all these idiots think that a GNR reunion is actually a possibility! As has been said above, Axl doesn't need the money, and frankly, doesn't need the exposure. His new GNR is continually selling out arenas all over the world. What would his motivation be for getting the old band back together? NONE. Van Halen did it because they sucked ass with Gary Cherone. The Eagles did it because none of them were doing anything spectacular either. The Police did it to stroke Sting's ego. And so on and so forth. It ain't gonna happen, people!! Get over it! Everyone knew that STP was always a possibility, and I hope they come to a city near me!! I hope VR doesn't break up, but if it means a permanent STP reunion, then I'm all for it.

The only selling out going on is with AXL. When a band goes on tour without RELEASING new music that is a sell out. To say he doesn't need the money......why go on tour if that isn't what he needs ?
