Arrest Made In BURY YOUR DEAD Robbery/Assault
- Feb. 19, 2008
|
|
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Milwaukee police have arrested a 19-year-old man they believe was involved in the weekend armed robbery of BURY YOUR DEAD guitarist Eric Ellis, who had just played a show at The Rave. The victim, 23, was sitting in a car about 12:30 a.m. Sunday when he was held up by five men, two with guns, according to Milwaukee police. He handed over a bag of jewelry, and the robbers fled the parking lot, near N. 24th St. and W. Wisconsin Ave. The victim chased the robbers and caught up with them but was kicked, suffering a cut to his head. Department spokesman Bobby Lindsey said the 19-year-old suspect was arrested Monday and remains in police custody. The case is expected to be referred to prosecutors Wednesday. Police continue to seek other suspects in the crime, Lindsey said. In a statement released yesterday, the members of BURY YOUR DEAD denied that robbery was the motive for the attack, claiming that the Milwaukee police have classified the incident as a "gang initiation." According to the group's statement, Ellis "was a victim of a random attack by six individuals. . . Eric was held at gunpoint while the men hit him multiple times with a baseball bat and hammer."

Ps. They thugs are black it was mention in the journal on sunday but they got the band name wrong on sunday when it was 1st reported I though it was some local band then.

Directly behind the Rave/Eagles Ballroom for about 5 blocks plus is just a shit hole. One of the worse areas of town. Just a bunch of thugs hang around/live in that area. Not sure why they weren't parked in the lot were the bands are parked. Unless HellYeah and Machine Head's buses took up all the space (it is on the small side for the bands to park).

I used to live 5 minutes from the Rave. Kilwaukee is definitely rough. I never would have imagined it was that bad prior to moving there.

I am not to sure what is more pathetic the fact it took 5 people to take down one person, or the fact that people actually stood around and let this happen.

The Rave slash eagles ballroom his a huge building. the rave hosl 1600 people the ball room upstairs holds over 3000 and they are several other stages as well. Ther is acutally like 6 stages in the building 4 of which are used for national acts. Its actually a pretty cool venue. I don't think the build many ballrooms anywhere anymore. We get a lot of great show because of this place! It's been around for something like 80 or 90 years and the current owners have done a great job over the last 15 or more years refurbishing it and making it better and better all the time. They do put a lot of money back into the building.
As far as the neighborhood its in it sucks. I have seen the security walking around in the neighborhood around the rave before maybee they need to step that up. But I will not let a bunch of hood rats scare me away from going to the venue to see a show.

So in South Carolina when BYD almost killed a kid it was because that kid attacked them unprovoked with a tire iron? Now 5 guys are attacking them unprovoked with guns and bats?
Wow, either they have the shittiest luck on the planet or their story is complete bullshit.
What kind of fucktard chases after 5 guys with guns and bats alone? Is he Superman? If so you would think Superman would have a better band. Fuck these clowns.

Where exactly was he attacked at? The building has a few different parking lots.
I just went to the Eagles Ballroom 2 weeks ago for the Manson show by myself and didn't really have any problems. I even walked around to the back of the building with another fan at 1:30AM and didn't see another person or car for the longest time. The streets were like a ghost town.
But after hearing this, I'll definitely be more cautious next time I go there. I knew the area wasn't the best around, but I figured things would be relatively safe within a block or two of the building.
I also heard it took a long time for Police to respond. I guess that goes to show you that they had no presence in the neighborhood whatsoever, which isn't good.

From what I've read in various other places, it was originally the guitarist against one person, and the other thugs were just standing there watching... when Eric proved to be too much of a challenge for the guy, his friends joined in... I dont know if any of you guys know what the Bury Your Dead guitarist looks like, but I went onto their myspace to see, and he is a pretty big guy! Thats why it took 5 people to defeat him, cause he's cocky as hell!
