OZZY OSBOURNE 'Silenced' By Pre-BRIT AWARDS Fall

ThisIsNottingham.co.uk reports that Ozzy Osbourne's rather subdued appearance at the Brit Awards (the British equivalent of the Grammy Awards) last night (Wednesday, February 20) was apparently down to him taking a tumble before the show. The veteran rocker, 59, hardly said a word during the two-hour bash that was televised live from Earls Court, while wife Sharon and their daughter Kelly seemed to hog the limelight, reports the Daily Star. But an insider explained that Ozzy had fallen over twice before the glitzy event: " Ozzy gave himself a real fright. It was touch and go whether things would go ahead as planned. That's why he barely took part in the show." The source added: "He was meant to be the highlight of the night, promising lots of swearing and bad behaviour. Instead, if you blinked, you missed him. It was like he wasn't there." Instead Sharon did most of the raucous swearing, by telling drunken presenter Vic Reeves to "p*** off" when he forgot which award he was meant to be handing out.

If not for Ozzy and Sabbath there would be none of this crap some of you refer to as "real metal". Give the Godfather err Grandfather of Metal a break. You guys talk all this shit as if you're never gonna get old yourselves. And as for DIO being the same age but in better shape, DIO did not indulge in rock N roll excess to the extent that Ozzy did. He didn't do any of the over the top stuff Ozzy has done is his lifetime. If all you do is prance around making hand gestures and sining about dragons, you are going to last alot longer then someone who does more then just sing. Did you see the show Ozzy put on with a broken foot? Still went nuts. Comparing Ozzy to DIO is like comparing Nikki Sixx to Kip Winger.. Gee I wonder who's gonna be in better shape at age 60. Youth is great but youthful arrogance and ignorance is anything but. We'll all get old someday no matter how tough you are.

He stopped a show once just because someone thew a flanel shirt onstage. Stoped his show, cussed the guy and threatened to have anyone who threw anythying onstage thrown out of the show. What a fuckin puss. I used to have mad respct for him untill that happened. Always thought and still do, that he has one of the best voices in metal. But c'mon, it's a heavy metal concert not the fuckin Symphony. And this aint no rumor, I was there and saw it with my own eyes.

a long thread when the facts are simple:
Ozzy at 59 has worse balance and health than my grandmother at 72.
That doesn't take away from his accomplishments, it just means he's a jackass who didn't take care of himself whatsoever.
And it isn't fair to compare him to Dio simply b/c he doesn't sing about tigers, dragons, 20-sided dice, leotards, magic, midevil times, etc.
Basically Ozzy helped make metal and Dio helped make a joke out of it.

If you think about it, Ozzy has been on drugs for the last 40 something years whether it be pharmaceuticals or street drugs. All of those drugs will eventually take its toll and it is clearly showing that. It's a sad thing to say but I think Phil Anselmo will be the exact same way Ozzy is now in twenty more years. The only reason I am saying that is because I think he is the greatest vocalist of my time but hopefully he will prove me wrong....

Your first post is totally right! OZZY is a fucking rock Lord and should be respected as such, he`s experienced more ups & downs than all the negative douchbags on this thread put together. I`m 45 and still party and jam out like a kid but once in awhile I definitely feel time creeping up on me.

Dio is a class act all the way - intelligent, sings like a god, always with passion & emotion. So Ozzy has more "hits" or is more "popular" - that supposedly makes him better? Are we in junior high???? The class idiot is "better" than the class brain b/c he gets more attention?
