RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Guitarist Has Second Solo Album In The Can - Feb. 22, 2008
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE recently returned home from headlining the Big Day Out festival in Australia and New Zealand, where guitarist Tom Morello also did double duty on some shows as his political folk alter ego, the NIGHTWATCHMAN. Although RAGE still has no plans to record, Morello told The Pulse of Radio that he's already finished his second NIGHTWATCHMAN CD. "The working title is 'The Fabled City', and it's pretty damn rocking," he said. "Over the course of the last year, you know, playing hundred-some shows, I think I've grown as a performer, and there's a certain amount of energy and electricity to those acoustic shows that I tried to translate to the record, and it's definitely a more high-energy affair. And there's actually one or two guitar solos may have crept their way in, as well as a riff or two."

Morello did not give a release date for "The Fabled City", although he said he expects it to come out later this year. His first NIGHTWATCHMAN record, "One Man Revolution", arrived last April.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE reunited last year for a series of concerts, its first in seven years. The band is next slated to hit the European festival circuit this summer.

As for Morello's other band, AUDIOSLAVE, he said there are no plans at the moment to issue a greatest-hits collection from the now-defunct supergroup. He did hint, however, that there is unreleased material recorded by the band which could someday see the light of day.

"RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Guitarist Has Second Solo Album In The Can "

Wait a second, are you telling me Tom Morello gave birth to an album in the crapper? Is that what you're saying?

Awesome guitarist... very inovative. Never cared for his solo stuff though.

Good album for those into folk though, I'd say.

wheeeel suck suck wheeeel wheeeeel

Sonic Youth made noise an art form... Morello gets credit for everyone else's work... Imagine him without De La Rocha, Cornell, or The Rage/Audioslave rhythm section... and you have Nightwatchman flying off the shelves...

COMMENT | Have any of you commenting actually HEARD "Nightwatchman"?

I regretfully paid money to see Morello give a hateful and tedious performance as the Nightwatchman. Lyrics which encourage you to kill the landlord hardly made up for the poor quality of his singing voice. There was nothing inspiring about the Hee Haw style of guitar play either.

Morello has been an inspiration for me. To such extent that I'm working out an acoustic arrangement of the greatest song ever recorded: MR ROBOTO.

Thanks Tom.

Dunno where any of you have been but RATM have made some seriously good albums during their run and your all acting like that's for nothing? stop bitching bout where morello would be without the rest of the RATM.. where would they be without him, when I think of RATM I think of amazing lyrical delivery with sick sounding guitar rifts, Without morello rage wouldn't of been what it was. De la rocha hasn't exactly been headlining any tours up until the rage reunion at least morello is actually doing something, Whether it's your preferred taste or not Don't knock an innovative guitarist like morello just because your unable to wrap your minds around what he is doing now and what he was doing before, He's a musician and he's doing what musician's do ...making music.

What is in this man's head? Am voters don't want him for decades already. He is said to be responsible for that other next biggest loser getting re-elected; he took away votes from Gore.

Fans shouldn't encourage Tom, don't buy his solo CDs, DEMAND new Rage! The Rage show at Coachella is one of the best shows I've ever seen (maybe 'cos had never seen the band)!
