Rumors Of New AC/DC Album Heating Up
- Mar. 2, 2008
|
|
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that an insider from Albert Music, AC/DC's long-time Australian record company, has revealed there is plenty of excitement building about a possible new album from the band. "We're very hopeful," he said, "but at this stage there's nothing official." AC/DC's New York management is yet to confirm rumors that the band will soon begin recording another album in the U.S. "They work on their own time frame," said the Sydney source. "When they make a record, it's because they want to." The band itself is now international, with members scattered across the globe. Malcolm and Angus Young divide their time between Britain and Australia (with Angus also spending time in the Netherlands because he has a Dutch wife). Singer Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams are based in the U.S., while drummer Phil Rudd lives in New Zealand. "They can all get together pretty quickly though," the source said. Williams told Spinner.com last month that AC/DC will enter the studio March 1 to begin recording its first new album in eight years. The web site caught up with Williams at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Los Angeles, where he said, "God I'm ready." As for touring, however, Williams was less sure about the group's intentions. He explained, "If we go out again or when we go out again, you just never know. We've been around a long time, so we're going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will (tour). I don't mean to be so negative about that." AC/DC recently re-opened its official web site for business, although the site dismissed rumors that the band was playing some secret European shows this winter. Reports surfaced earlier in January that AC/DC was nearly finished recording its next album, but a spokesperson for the band's Australian label, Albert Records, denied the story. AC/DC's last all-new set, "Stiff Upper Lip", came out in 2000.

Brian Johnson's voice went to shit after Flick Of The Switch....sounds like he has a constipated frog stuck in his throat.
Maybe it's time to induct the singer from Rhino Bucket for AC/DC.

Eight years since the last record? I'm sure there will be a mountain of posters ripping on AC/DC for taking so long, and losing the hunger, and being about the money.
Or, is Metallica the only veteran band that get's criticised for their limited output around here?
Sorry, I had to mention that.

AC/DC remain the very reason i got into heavy music in the first place. I cant say the last few efforts from the band are great BUT their entire 35 year history stand on its own. I welcome o new album from the thunder from downunder.
Dirty Deed Done Dirt Cheap remains a classic in my collection

Do you know how many people in the world will be happy to have new ac/dc music??!!
I know I am one of MANY
when you are the age of Ac/Dc, I could really give a shit how long you take to put out a record......
I thought Stiff Upper Lip was one of their freshest sounding records in a long time, and one of the best bluesy rock records to come out in this decade........
the sheer number of bands that have made a living VERY NEARLY just plagiarizing ac/dc is just one of the many testaments to their legend status.....
Airbourne is a heinous example.........
if I wanted to listen to a band that sounded like ac/dc, I would listen to Jackyl or KIX, before I would pop in the airbourne cd, their songs have NO BALLS......

Great live band that gets down and boogies like nobody's business, but its like the Rolling Stones. If you can still get it done live but you forgot how to write good songs, then whats the point of a new album? These guys were never great songwriters to begin with, it was the boogie woogie and the charisma of the material that carried them. That shit has long since passed. Their last 14 or 15 studio offerings sound like a flaccid shaft begin for relief. I cannot support a new AC/DC album for so many reasons, many of which I have just outlined.

Ok enough is enough, it's one thing for the posters on here to come and post insults about these lame ass scene bands, generic metalcore bands, and all these other mini fads. But when you come on here and start bashing fuckin AC/DC i have to take issue. This band has been the purest form of genuine heavy rock since the 70s and have always stuck to their sound regardless of trends and changes in the industry, and have managed to reach millions of people around the world and will continue to do so. So next time before you choose to bash true living legends why not stop and realize how much they have contributed to the history of music and the evolution of heavy music that has allowed all of you to have your modern day little metal sub genres where haircuts and band names a sentence long are more important than music with actual substance. it's time for everyone to fuckin appreciate and respect the fact these bands paved the way for your cute little lifestyles. There's a reason there are no new legendary bands....they could all learn a thing or 2 from AC/DC.

To hear the same recycled riffs from 1978 all over again. And call me an assh*le, call me what you will, but the vocalist is by far one of the most ANNOYING voices in the Rock World.
Don't get me wrong, I like the "hits" from these guys as much as the next guy, but if you have an expanded music collection, or for that matter, tastes, you realize there is nothing too spectacular about these guys anymore.

I don't think Brian's voice sounds that bad. Either way you can't sing like he did in the old days forever. That was brutal, and brilliant. I'll always love the Bon Scott ear the best. But Brian Johnson takes care of business.
