IGGY POP Performs MADONNA Tribute; Video Available

IGGY POP performed a tribute to Madonna Monday night (March 10) at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The rocker and his band THE STOOGES — who opened for MADONNA in Dublin, Ireland, on her "Re-Invention Tour" in 2004 — were chosen by Madonna to sing "Burning Up" and "Ray of Light" at the ceremony in New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel before Justin Timberlake presented the "Queen of Pop" with her award. At the end, a shirtless Pop said, "you make me feel shiny and new, like a virgin touched for the very first time," and tossed his microphone to the floor, according to The Associated Press. Madonna deserved to go in the Hall of Fame but NOT before Iggy Pop, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, etc...
She wasn't a rock star but she was a rebel. You have to give her that.

NEVER cover Madonna cause it's crappy, but mostly cause you can't do it as well as she does it. I mean, she's not my bag of tea but damit, she sings this best.

I think the hippies at Rolling Stone Magazine and MTV select these inducties. I have no problem with John Mellancamp. But it is a joke that Kiss, Rush, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper and Motorhead bfore the cool and the gangs, Madonna's. what is next the Go Go's and Madness

It becomes more obvious every year that that is who does the selecting.Mellencamp was good-like him or not he is kind of a badass who did it his own way.He was appreciative and cool.And he can still sing despite all the Marlboros.They should induct that 1/2 dozen all together next year just to try and make up for all the years of shitty picks. Sabbath waited too long. VH even, to a point was held back a while.They were eligible for 4 years at least.

The so-called 'rock and roll hall of fame' is nothing anyone should consider seriously.
Just like all these lame awards shows - all useless and for the most part NOT indicitive of truly great talent.
I will not be surprised to see next years inductees include American Idol contestants.

Whoa....I like The Stooges and I do like some of Madonna's stuff too...but that was seriously awful. Whoever came up with this idea is really stupid. I also think Madonna is an icon and deserves some recognition.....but to put her in the Hall is questionable then again where would you put her. Anyway, in my my opinion the Hall of Fame is horrible. Put in Motorhead, Kiss and Priest and then maybe they'll regain some credibility. Are The Sex Pistols in yet?

Iron Maiden rules.I just watched the thing again for a few minutes on VH1classic-Iggy is packin' on the pounds around the belly area-might want to consider a shirt for live performances from now on...The Rock N Roll Hall of shame is a joke..-but a fun debate. If Iggy really ruled he would have told Madonna to fuck off or done something obscene on live t.v.

Vying for air time alongside Justin Timberlake in public in order to obtain indie hipster cred anymore stopped being cool 5 years ago.
And as important to music as Iggy Pop is/was....wow, that performance was complete ass. Sorry, folks. Does he even rehearse anymore before a concert? I've seen cover bands perform with more skill.
