Gary Gennaro, the guitarist from the legendary New Orleans underground band GRAVEYARD RODEO (with whom he released two albums through Century Media: "Sowing Dischord in the Haunts of Man" and "On the Verge"), is co-writing, co-producing and co-directing a new film called "Inside the Underground", which is described as "an in-depth look at the underground metal and punk scene in London."

The film's synopsis reads as follows: "The underground music scene, the true grit of metal and punk. While large venues may seem impressive, a band leaves their true legacy in the small clubs and venues, with these small intimate gigs living long in the hearts of both musicians and fans alike. But it’s not an easy ride and many get lost in the crowd. It can be expensive, draining, and disheartening. Nothing can dent you confidence more than a bad gig or an apathetic crowd (if indeed you have a crowd in the first place). Not to mention unscrupulous promoters trying make a fast pound. So if success is not guaranteed, why do underground bands continue to do it?

"That is one of the questions we hope to answer as we take an in-depth look at the London metal and punk scene, and everything in-between. Who are the bands? Who puts on the shows? Where does it happen? And why? Who are the fans and who has had success from the underground?"

As well as interviews, this film will include live music from many different levels of the underground scene.

Shooting of principal photography will start at the end of March, with post-production in May.

Gary Gennaro's writing, producing and directing partner is Ben Palmer, the guitarist and singer in the London-based hardcore metal band IMMORAL MINORITY, whose debut album will be released this summer. He lives in in Barking, East London and cites his influences as a mix of southern sludge/doom and hardcore punk.
