SAMAEL's XY Comments On Upcoming North American Tour - Mar. 19, 2008
Swiss metallers SAMAEL have commented on their upcoming North American tour with AMORPHIS, LEAVES' EYES and VIRGIN BLACK — the group's first U.S. trek in nearly five years.

SAMAEL oo-founder Xy stated: "We haven’t played in the U.S. since our last tour for 'Eternal' back in 2003. It has been far too long and the wait is over! We are happy to announce we'll be back in September to present material from not one but two albums, namely 'Reign Of Light' and 'Solar Soul', as well as songs off our other records. We're excited about this tour and are looking forward to connecting with our American audience once again!"

Amorphis and Samael make a good billing - two of the more original bands in metal right now. Other bands should take note.

I loved Samael until I saw them live! They play to a drum machine! And they do little dances and look really unmetal. It totally ruined this band for me. Passage is a great album but seeing them play Jupiterian Vibe live was truly embarrassing! It might be better if they had live drums but the singer looks like the guy from bush and the bass player looks like an even more effeminate Kirk Hammster. It just ruined it, I'm, I'm gonna be sad now.

Amorphis and Samael only would have done for me, I cannot care less about the other bands on the bill...

I saw them twice and even if they changed (matured?) they still remain a powerful live act.

Honestly, seems kind of weird to call them "unmetal," since, well, they haven't really been metal in a long time. IMO, ever since Eternal they have struck me as solidly in the camp of bands like Frontline Assembly. I'm not an expert on that type of music, but that's what they sound like to me since around that time.

I saw them in 03 at Phantasmagoria (RIP) and thought they were a crushing live act, regardless of the genre. One of the best live bands I've ever seen, TBH. Can't wait till the NYC date. Hope they have the fire juggling and what not.
