SCOTT WEILAND: This Is VELVET REVOLVER's 'Last Tour' - Mar. 21, 2008
According to several fan accounts and online media reports, VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland stunned fans at last night's (Thursday, March 20) VR concert in Glasgow, Scotland, UK by dropping a huge hint the band's time may be up.

He told the sell-out crowd: "You're watching something special... the last tour by VELVET REVOLVER."

A fan who attended last night's show wrote on the band's forum, "Once [Scott announced from the stage that this was VR's last tour], Slash [guitar], Duff [McKagan, bass], Matt [Sorum, drums] and Dave [Kushner, guitar] all looked at each other. They sang 'Fall to Pieces', then Scott goes over to the side of the stage and argues with the sound guy. After a couple of songs, he threw his mic down and walked off. After a long wait, Duff came out with the band and sang the start of 'It's So Easy'. Scott shows up about half way through, sang really half-assed then gone again..."

In an online posting from earlier today, VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum stated about the Glasgow concert, "So last night was interesting. Had a little band turmoil on stage, as you probably all could tell.

"Being in a band is a lot like being in a relationship. Sometimes you just don't get along. I guess there has been more turmoil lately, I guess, with the cancellations and all. It has been frustrating, I am not going to lie.

"My career and life in rock 'n' roll has come with its ups and downs. Unfortunately, some people in this business don't realize how great of a life they have. Touring the world, meeting great people and fans all over the world. And just playing music for a living. I feel truly blessed. But sometimes the road can be draining for some. Being away from home and family does grind on you sometimes. With all the travelling and different beds. Personally, I love this shit and sometimes can’t believe I am so lucky to still be doing what I do for a living.

"Everybody could see who was unhappy last night, but all I can say is let's keep the rock alive, people!!!! In this life, you just pick up and keep moving. And don't ever let anybody stand in your way."

Weiland, who recently spent time in rehab at an undisclosed location, has struggled with substance abuse problems for more than a decade, although was reportedly clean for nearly four years until a few months ago. Questions about his condition flared in January when he missed a VELVET REVOLVER performance at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, claiming transportation problems.

Weiland will reunite with his STONE TEMPLE PILOTS bandmates for the first time this spring/summer for a number of shows, including an appearance at the Rock on the Range festival, to be held May 17-18 at Columbus, Ohio's Columbus Crew Stadium.

I can't think of a less surprising announcement. The writing was on the wall.

We can only hope this will speed things along for the reunion of the original Guns N Roses. WITH STEVEN ADLER. (Although a reunion with Matt Sorum on drums would be better than nothing.)

Wait, the DRUMMER is the level-headed, appreciative, unspoiled one in the band?

No, no, no, this does not jive with the stereotypes.

The above is sarcasm. The drummer is almost always the stable one in the band, it takes the most sacrifice to be the drummer so they tend to be the most appreciative.

Besides, we all know where the real money is......Scott reuniting with STP while Duff, Slash & Matt talk Axl into reforming the Guns-n-Roses we love. As for Dave, guess it is back to pumping gas and checking oil for him.

-Any no-name singer who deserves a good gig

I think they were stoked enough to have met the rest of the band & they said that they were all super nice guys but for the money they paid they should have gotten the respect from all the people whose meal ticket they were subsidising!

Move on lads, get yourselves a singer who can sing (cos Scott can) but isn't a total nobend (cos Scott evidentally is)

I loved STP back in the early days but even back then Scott was a jerk. I saw them open for Megadeth in '93 (I think) right after "Core" was released and the fucker was inviting people backstage to fight after the show because somebody threw a cigarette lighter at him. Even back then I was thinking "Who does he think he is, Axl Rose?" The video for "Sex Type Thing" hasn't been out for very long and I think I was one of the few people in the audience that even knew who the fuck they were. Hell of a way to introduce yourself to the world. Whatever....

I too would love to see a GNR reunion but it seems that Axl is too busy wearing his ass for a hat to make that a reality.

Scott obviously has some talent but he's turned in half assed performances for the last few years - he needs to stop being an asshole to people because he isn't quite talented enough to get away with it anymore. The days of Purple are long gone. He needs a wake up call and the Guns boys need to get back in a decent band.

They should have gone with Josh Todd or Travis Meeks.

A Gn'R tour would rule......I hate Alx but I did go see the mockery that Gn'R has become on the first, dare I say Gun's Mock II, tour and he sounded pretty damn good. Nothing like when I saw him on the Appetite For Destruction tour though opening for the Cult when you half you guys were in diapers LOL We know Duff, Slash & Matt are tighter then ever so bring on Axl and do it....make a few hundred million in the process and retire in style :)

I can't even remember Duff McKagan's band after GnR.

Hey Scott - if Nikki Sixx can do it, so can you man. Dig it?

I doubt Velvet Revolver is going to disband - they are riding a pretty good wave given the 'problems' Weiland has been bringing into the fold. Bach would be a good choice as front man, but I doubt that will happen given his relationship with Axl.

I really don't see a G'nR reunion in the cards - at least not until that damn Chi-Dem recortd is officilly released. And given the madness surrounding that crap, a G'nR reunion is way out there in left field.

So - what's next? Will the band go with an established voice, or will they scour the planet in search of 'undiscovered' talent?

Hey - perhaps Hugh Dillon may be over his 'actor' thing - he would be an interesting choice to front Velvet Revolver.

Can't believe you haven't nominated Keith Caputo to take over from Scott yet...

I think the reason even fans are - and are entitled to be - mad at Scott is because he's blown SO MANY chances to clean up. Yes, addiction is a disease, but he can afford the best support systems and rehabs. Every other guy in VR has gone through substance problems and come out wiser the other end, so they have a right to be pissed too

I'd like to see Bach upfront too, though it seems unlikely. Or how about just a four-piece with Duff on vocals? It's not like he CAN sing, but Attitude, You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory and Believe In Me were all fun. And it ain't like an inability to sing is exactly an obstacle in our world...

The two worlds combine themselves yet again. If they thought Scott was clean for four years then they are mistaken or they were living through some flashbacks......he was not so clean from some of the things I knew like I write earlier unless they were going through past years. This is a reason why I showed up at one of the shows in the Usa last year and I know the guy has a heart it's just that sometimes people can drive a person to do stupid things at least it might seem stupid to some of them at the time.

If he really started back then it's because of someof the company they were keeping while on tour last year and I don't mean the band members or Stp or Gnr. I know what some of them are like and what they can do to a person to make them change and they act as if they do nothing to help things like that along. They just don't take the time to know things without running their mouths all the time(I mean they don't know how to be quite) and some of them would argue with a brick if you put it in front of their face.

I understand the confusion that can and clearly does go on with bandmates if everything is correct in the letter because from the vids I didn't see one thing happen that was written in the letter above. Maybe it won't be such a bad thing if they go their different ways but I like all three bands(at least some of the members) involved and that's GNR,VR,and STP. People need to give up calling people Junkies for this reason......What kind of Junkies are you talking about? Because there are alot of different kinds like music junkies, computer junkies, movie star junkies, food junkies, news junkies, by now you should be able to get the point without me naming anymore of what is referred as a junkie besides a name for people that do drugs. It's just pointless to keep name calling unless you like being childern like alot of adults that I meet they tend to get confused about who and what age they are. It's news for sure.

Oh, get off it already with the "disease" crap. People like you apparently can't allow yourselves to believe that someone could actually CHOOSE to be high rather than a responsible family member, employee, etc. I suppose it raises too many uncomfortable questions about human nature for you if you admit that people can be that selfish.

There's no mystery to it - it's fun to be high. So fun, in fact, that some people prefer it to anything else, including all the things that society tells them they should prefer. Sure, they probably "want" to be well while simultaneously "wanting" to get loaded. People want contradictory or mutually exclusive things all the time. No one ever "planned" to become a junkie - well, no shit. As John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans. How much of your life as it is today was planned out ten or twenty years ago?

Quick thought experiment - if someone were able to know for certain that THIS injection would lead to a fatal overdose, how many would do it? If they truly had a "disease", they'd still do it anyway.

And how is it that one day, many junkies just stop doing it? What "cured" them? Nothing - they just finally decided that it wasn't worth it anymore. A choice, in other words. You even admit it yourself when you say that giving it up is "extremely difficult". A literal disease isn't enjoyable at all, and no one has the ability to give it up. Calling addiction a disease doesn't clarify anything, quite the opposite, in fact.

hundreds of poeple at ALL ages where ther so it's not jst for like younger people like me because there music is there and at all paces! Last night was really confusing and the poeple beside (to my left) and the people in front had all been before and said that this was there best 1 yet and i personally think that there all great and Matt sorum wasnt having it so im thinking that when they were back stage they were arguing and im hoping that when we called for 'Encore' they HOPEFULLY got some sence into them but from meh and all your fans (that ino of) please please please dont give up on us!!!!

the only way scott will ever get clean is if he gave up the music life..........listen drugs are expensive for you and i.......but for a guy thats making a shit load of cash.....just walking around with alot of cash in your pocket is a temptation that he doesnt need.....i know what hes going threw.......but i never had the money he does so i can only imagine how bad it gets for him........sad

The writing was definitely on the wall that Scott's days in VR are just about done.

The GNR reunion is not happening anytime soon. I think the only person out of the original 5 who would be gung ho for it is Steven.

My guess is either that Slash, Duff and Matt quit the music business out of frustration, or they find a new lead singer.

Am I the only one that liked the first Snakepit singer and not the second one? The first Snakepit album was infinitely better than the second, much like VRs first and second albums.

Scott has already planned to leave these guys for STP been in the works since he first stated he wouldnt be surprised if they got back together. I just hope VR keeps going with someone else... Bach would be very interesting and would give GNR a run for their money I am sure.

Haha maybe Slash can join Buckcherry, who's album is currently a large success after Slash kicked Josh and Keith out of VR

Anyone can argue as much as they want and it doesnt make a lick of difference, because they are all making million of dollars more than we are and ultimately your opinion on whether they suck balls are not amount to about as much to shit as is actually possible. Wave your anti-flags while they wag their million dollar bank accounts in your face. Oh btw fuck GnR reunion and fuck a STP reunion let old bands die along with the monster egos that were created with them.

I think you all are a bunch off assholes. Scott Weiland is amazing! He has admitted his problems with drugs, and he has never denied using. Most of you are such hypocrites that you don't have balls enough to face your own demons! Go screw yourself. Weiland was the best thing for Velvet Revolver. If the rest of the band thinks that reuniting GnR is going to prove something then power to them. But hopefully they don't use VR name. The groups are completely different and without Scott they shouldn't have the privledge in using the name VR. If so many of you are saying he sucks and all the other worthless bullshit that people have wrote...then just remember that he has 9 albums and has sold 35 million copies worldwide. Sounds like he has talent to me. Go to hell haters!!
