ANTHRAX: New Song Clip Posted Online

An audio clip of a rehearsal/demo version of a brand new ANTHRAX song, entitled "Fight 'Em 'Till You Can't Fight No More", can be heard on the intro page to the band's official web site. ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian previously described the track as "straight-up 1988[-style thrash] through a 2007 filter." In a December 2007 online chat, ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante stated about the group's new material, "It's hard nowadays to try and relive 1986. We were different in 1986. We can reach inside and pull out some of the old school and make ourselves make that music, but we don't. The song 'Fight 'Em 'Till You Can't' is as organic as it gets; it's not forced and it is like an old-school thrash song." New photos of the group can be found at this location. In a recent interview with Banned Promotions, new ANTHRAX singer Dan Nelson — whose voice was previously described by Scott Ian as "like [previous ANTHRAX frontman] John Bush on steroids" — stated about how he landed the gig, "I contacted Rob Caggiano [ ANTHRAX guitarist] about jamming through MySpace. I originally laid down tracks for a side project Rob is doing. He told me after I was done recording he thought I would be a good fit for ANTHRAX. I was contacted by Charlie [ Benante, drums] shortly after and auditioned. The rest, as they say, is history!" Regarding the direction of the band's upcoming CD, Nelson said, "Things are going great. Fans are going to be real pleased with the new album. It's heavy as hell, and definitely has those thrash elements that ANTHRAX is best known for!" Thats not John Bush dude. Thats a new guy that they got in the band cause John said he wouldnt come back. So Just like Halen with Gary Sharone they got someone who sounds just like the last singer. Hahahahaha.....awful indeed!!

These guys diminish their own legacy the more they try to be current. Slayer will always retain their legacy because (for the most part) they kept doing what they do and didn't try chasing trends. When ANTHRAX took a more straight ahead, polished approach with the addition of John Bush I gave them the benefit-of-doubt legitimacy as they claimed it was just progress, and it wasn't as horrible as METALLICA's about face, but this new ANTHRAX material just goes to prove the nay sayers were right when they accused ANTHRAX of chasing trends. Give it up ANTHRAX as your integrity is transparent and we see how fake you've become.

I sounds like regular rock music you can get from a bar band from Long Island.
Scott Ian is a real idiot. On top of this weak music, he's got an unknown singing Belladonna/Bush songs. He got lucky and saved face when Sharon Osbourne forced the reunion of the original lineup, but he F'd up again!!!

I think the singer makes for a very John Bush-like replacement, and that he'll sound fine on a proper studio recording with all the usuall bells and whistles.. It's the music that I don't care for. I hate it when bands go backwards.

just for the record that clip is a rehearsal audio of one of the new songs. so it is supposed to sound shitty, have you been inside a rehearsal studio? if you are new to the music composition and recording process please just shut up.

Trend chasers are posers if you ask me. A band should find what their good at and stick with it, no matter what style it happens to be. Testament now has their original lineup, thats why they can do the old style thrash good on their new album.
Anthrax were good with Joey Belladonna in the late 80's, thats how they made the cut into the "big four", and they need him if they ever want to do "straight-up 1988 style thrash" respectably again.
I say they retire.

Its hard to figure out why they do what they do and why I still care. Facts are I just love Charlie and his personality and class.( he is a pretty good drummer too) Hahaha Fucking KING of The KIT. I have met him several times including once in the pouring rain. For me it would be near impossible to do better than Sound Of White Noise, they couldn't do it with John and the odds don't seem very good ( From this demo) for this lineup either. Every release after SOWN had some goof song on it and they needed to stay hard but always trying to play left of center failed them with every release after SOWN. I will say that my very favorite BUSH song it not on SOWN its the song with the Twilight Zone video (INSIDE OUT) Anyhow Frankie and Charlie have always been cool and sometimes it really seemed like Scott might be trying to be cool but not always. Seen them at the Alrosa where we lost DIME. For me as a local I have to look at it as not only where he was killed but it was also the last place he lived and the last lick he played was here in OHIO.So some of Dimes friends have came back through but some have not. My question is WWDD?

When the album comes out and the band hits the stage it will all be proven one way or the other. The song sounds heavy to me and Dan sounds pretty fucking Metal.

...kind of punky. That riff and the vocal interplay at the start actually sort of reminds me of early Nuclear Assault. The chorus is total John Bush worship, so you've got an interesting mix of styles here.
I wouldn't mind this direction. I'll check out the new album... this band has been good to me over the years. :)

Ya'll have no idea what what you're are in for. Ive heard Dan Nelson live and on recordings and I KNOW he is going to rip it apart once Anthrax put out the new album. Simply put the boy can SING!!! When that happens ALL of this talking will prove utterly obselete and unfounded. Just wait and you will see. It's about time Anthrax got back to doing what they do best, making bloody heavy music!! The TRUE Thrax fans got it right, WAIT and see.

Unless they just wanted everyone to prejudge based on a shitty demo. What else are they gonna do? Retire? They don't have enough money. Bush said no. Belladonna said no. They have no choice but to bring in a new (4th) singer and become their own tribute band like Sabbath '83-'94, Thin Lizzy (NO original members), Journey (what is it 5th or 6th singer now?), Kiss (makeup back on, but no Ace or Peter).

that Demo is short for demonstration? Hence, its not a finished product and was taken from a rehearsal? How many great metal songs from the past were formed this way? As soon as I saw this archive, I knew people would be all over it saying its crap. Those of us who want to hear new Anthrax will wait for the new cd to judge. You all just make me laugh cause you take yoursleves way too seriously and think your opinion is the only one that matters. It doesn't matter anymore than mine.

This is not a finished song. What the hell does everyone expect to hear?
But , The band should've put the entire song up on the site instead of just a clip. Because just where the clip cuts off it's going into the chorus and it sounds pretty good. Maybe if the whole song was up the Blabbermouth twits would realize the whole song is not just growling.
