SLASH: 'This Is Not VELVET REVOLVER's Last Tour'

VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash has dismissed reports that the band will split up following its current European trek. During the band's March 20 concert in Glasgow, singer Scott Weiland apparently told fans they were "watching something special ... the last tour by VELVET REVOLVER." Speaking to BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat, Slash said, "Well, let's put it this way — this is not VELVET REVOLVER's last tour." During the same interview, Slash said it is unlikely VELVET REVOLVER will support LED ZEPPELIN on a world tour but has stopped short of ruling it out completely. Rumors linking the two bands emerged last week after VELVET REVOLVER bassist Duff McKagan said that the band "have" the slot. But Slash has told Newsbeat the band is concentrating on its next album. He said: "There's been a huge rumor going around about us opening for them and I think that was something that was taken out of context. "I think as far as ZEPPELIN doing a tour, that remains to be seen. "I saw Robert last night [Saturday, March 22] and he's got his solo thing going on and as far as VELVET REVOLVER is concerned, we've got another record to do and we're not even thinking about that."

Will it be Velvet Revolver with Scott Weiland? My guess is no. David Lee Roth will most likely be available very soon, Chris Cornell isn't doing anything, how about Richard Patrick and there's always Axl. VR will be alive and well in the future.

Fuck it!! They should let Scott Weiland quit and take his drama and bullshit back to STP, Then replace him with someone else and carry on. It won't be long before the guys in STP remember why they broke up in the first place.
They would be better off without that asshole anyway. It's not like they can't find a frontman that sounds similar or better than Scott Weiland.
The biggest mistake they made was picking that asshole to be the frontman of Velvet Revolver.

VR never really seemed like a real band. It always came off as something that was put together by managers and record execs. It's time to make Velvet Revolver a 'Real' band.

1. Brett Scallions- Dude can sing, he's good friends with Matt, and I really don't think Riders on The Storm is THAT much of a priority.
2. David Cooke- If the current American Idol hopeful gets booted off before the the finals, he will only be contractually obligated to do the bullshit summer tour with the rest of the contestants. He's got a better voice than Weiland, and can be controlled.
3. John Corabi- Although the voice didn't work for Motley Crue, I think he'd do fine with VR.
4. Billy Morrison- For the same reasons as Scallions
5.Wil Martin- Since Earshot is pretty much dead, he's available and has a damn good voice.
6. Travis Meeks- Maybe the best choice to replace Weiland, assuming he got over the lead singers disease that destroyed Days Of The New. Or even if he doesn't. Slash and Duff seem to be drawn to dysfunctional singers.
7. Patrick Monohan- Many people don't know that Train started off as a hair metal band. Great voice, and he can write a song.
8. , 9 & 10. I would say that the last three best choices are people we don't know. Chris Cornell will never front another band, Bach is too close to Axl to do it, and Axl won't. So here it goes.

Harriet said the same thing, and she's right. Every day tehre's more drama with these guys, and yet I can't think of anyone who actually likes this band. Sure, most of the individuals that make up the band have fans, but they don't fit together very well - both albums suck and live they're terrible.
It's just that rock music has hit such a sad time that this is becomes the biggest band out there by default.
As to moses' beard, these guys don't talk because they probably never did. These guys (except Slash and Duff) were never 'blood brothers' in the trenches trying to make it. Matt hooked up with these guys when they were already huge and they probably didn't even speak to him then. He was like an employee. Weiland's wife was friends with Duff's wife - they needed a singer and he needed a job and the record company signed everything up sight unseen. The bald guy of unknown origin was brought in because Izzy realized these songsthey were writing were crap and didn't want his name on it.
How much band camaraderie do you expect from a situation like that? How much good music can you expect from a situation like that.
Either reform STP and GNR or go do solo albums. Slash and Weiland have done great solo records. The supergroup thing always sucks, no matter how good it looks on paper.

The "bald guy" worked with Duff previously on solo stuff and actually knew Slash in high school.
I think the band is still young and under a lot of pressure simply put. On top of that, Weiland is a struggling addict and Sorum is as well. Only Sorum is more aggressive. Coke pumps you up....
It's a tough situation. With all of that going on, they should have made an aggressive record and not something that makes suits happy.

The "bald guy" is actually the former guitarist for Danzig, and a really good friend of Slash's. He actually went through recovery around the same time, and is a really good dude. At the end of the day, VR would be a much better band with a better front man. I remember when they announced it at the beginning. I thought it would be awesome, but only if Weiland could get his shit together. Well, he didn't, and now they get to find someone else.

It's bad enough that Weiland is a copycat singer and a mediocre frontman, but his songwriting skills are pathetic. Anything he's touched since the first two STP albums is just pretentious, generic, boring pop-metal. The two Snakepit albums destroy the two VR albums from start to finish. It takes a strong negative force to get Slash to create songs as lifeless as VR has been making, and it's obviously Weiland, since VR sounds like the later lame side of STP.
And I second the mention of Rod Jackson to replace Weiland. VR would rule the world if they started making some kick-ass Aero-sleaze like Snakepit did. Oh yeah, and they should get Jack Douglas to produce the next VR album to make sure that the formula is complete.

if josh todd doesnt join the band. he's a perfect fit for them, if im not mistaken he's all clean now too, and i dont think he's gonna top 'crazy bitch' in the eye of the mainstream jackoff media, so he might as well save rock and roll and be a hero. I love scott weiland's style but his last offering with vr really didnt do much for me. Go back and listen to #4 or purple and then listen to libertad. Sound uninspired?

If Weiland had never met the DeLeo brothers, he would have probably ended up as the singer for the most known Guns 'n' Roses Tribute band. (Um, oh yeah -- Axl Rose has that job.)

Good to hear. I'm already anxious for album #3. Screw the haters. Contraband was one of the top hard rock records of the decade, and Libertad was great too.
Weiland has been the primary lyricist, but it' not my understanding that he's contributed much else to the songs. His voice is a great fit for the band, but I'd much rather see him go than see him stay and watch the band tank in a mess of drama. I've always liked Weiland as a singer, but the comments in Glasgow were totally unprofessional, and his rant against Matt Sorum was not at all reasonable in light of Sorum's comments, which were mostly positive.
It's not the first time that Weiland has created issues. VR is a unique band, and if Slash, Duff, Matt and Dave need a new singer in order to continue to kick ass, so be it.

but I like Weiland. I even like both records. The first one is better than the second, but I do like them.
When the band hit in 2003, I was excited for it.
However people should remember that Sebastian Bach or Weiland were not even their first choices, it was Kelly Shafer from Atheist, but instead of VR he went onto form Neurotica.
I think VR does need a break. Like I said in a previous post, this will not be the last tour of VR, but it will be for awhile. They need time to refresh and now that the DeLeo brothers got Army of Anyone out of the way *And I think both they and Richard Patrick see that was a big mistake*, I think now is the best time to get STP back together.
A few years ago it was all about the supergroups...Audioslave, Velvet Revolver...i.e. Now it's about those big bands getting back together.
I wholeheartedly can tell you though, that there will never be another GNR reunion. Axl wanted to progress with the musical times, the rest of the band didn't. Axl may be sociopath at times, but to say the guy is an idiot is extremely unfounded.

I hope Weiland reads this message but i doubt he will. Its hilarious reading through everybodys messages and hearing about their veiws on VR. Ive seen them 3 times, and i know who the weak link is in the band, its the G 'n' R click. Although they are decent, theyre not fit to be onstage with Scott Weiland, im sad that theyve broke up, because i did love them, but i hope to god STP get to Liverpool one day. Guns n Roses make music for children, tho i did like Appetite, but i was 12 when i heard it anyway, so that says it all. Stone Temple Pilots are a mans band. They make music for people who understand what good music is. G n R make music for smelly kids, and ugly birds. The best frontmen of all time are as follows......1. Robert Plant....2. Weiland....3..Perry Farrell....4. Layne Staley..5..Jagger...6..Jim Morrison. Lennon and McCartney would be up ther but thye dont really count. my veiw changes alll the time, but weiland is always round the top. I hope VR carry on, with any other singer on the planet who would do it. Coz u'd realize how pathetic they would be without Weiland. Im made up he came to Liverpool, because he's a melodical mastermind, a lyrical suprise, and a vocal delight haha. Cant wait for the DeLeos to make me an album i will be excited enough to buy. While I agree, yeah Scott never made sense to me as a pick, I remained optomistic like "who knows?". He is, and probably will always be an addict, bad pick for a frontman.
As far as Axl rose, I hear (if you read his myspace page it sorta makes sense) the guy is Mentally ill. This is why there is no Guns n Roses now. He is delusional. Some days hes fighting pirates in neverland n shit.
I dunno I agree they need a new frontman. John corabi's in Ratt as a rhythm guitarist. How about Jason McMasters? I dont see Dangerous toys doin much anytime soon. Hell, the resemblence to Axl's cool. Or Dizzy Dean davidson. Theres two ideas.

Them nuggets in the band just brag nonstop about how nuts it is on the road and all that bullshit. U's are all quick to called Weiland for everything, but Weilands a man, and he's been a pro. who cares? weiland has the same problem that axl has - he thinks that he *is* the band. i rekon they should just let him go on and leave, and they can find someone else who will actually dedicate themselves to the band.
it was obvious from the start that weiland would leave when something "better" came along.

So basically this is the GNR lovers website and the Scott Weiland haters website. That's a given. Every band has it's problems from time to time. That just happens...nothing new there. I don't think any part of VR would be the same minus anyone from the current lineup including Scott Weiland. Don't be all hating on him when you have been listening to their music since they first started. They all rock as a whole. Don't take that away from them! If Scott stays with the band...that's awesome and can't wait till they make their third album! if he does leave then I think they would find a new lead singer but would probably make up a new name for a band IMO.

Weiland may be causing problems right now, but he will clean up. He is an awesome singer and is really a riot to watch live. Axl's voice just sounds like his throat has some dried up cum in it. Weiland can kick that bitch Axl's ass anytime, anywhere, anyplace. Velvet Revolver isn't Velvet Revolver without Scott. Believe it or not, Scott brings most of the lyrics to the table, writes some of the music, and brings a lot of fans to VR's gigs, so I say keep him and keep the media from fucking him up and he'll be fine. Long live Velvet Revolver!
