TESTAMENT Added To HEAVEN AND HELL, JUDAS PRIEST, MOTÖRHEAD Tour?
- Mar. 27, 2008
|
|
Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT are rumored to have been added to the upcoming summer tour featuring HEAVEN AND HELL, JUDAS PRIEST and MOTÖRHEAD (as previously reported by BLABBERMOUTH.NET on January 17 and March 22). It should be noted, however, that this information has not yet been corrobated by an official source and should be considered a rumor only at this point. A brand new TESTAMENT track, entitled "More Than Meets The Eye", has been posted on the group's MySpace page. The song comes off the group's forthcoming album, "The Formation of Damnation", due in North America on April 29 via Nuclear Blast Records. The band recorded the effort in part with producer Andy Sneap ( MACHINE HEAD, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE) at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California. "The Formation of Damnation" track listing: 01. For The Glory Of 02. More Than Meets The Eye 03. The Evil Has Landed 04. Formation Of Damnation 05. Dangers of The Faithless 06. The Persecuted Won't Forget 07. Henchmen Ride 08. Killing Season 09. Afterlife 10. F.E.A.R. 11. Leave Me ForeverProsthetic Records has just re-released TESTAMENT's "First Strike Still Deadly" album. Originally issued in 2001 on Spitfire Records, the updated version features new artwork. "First Strike Still Deadly" is a compilation of early tracks re-recorded in 2001 by Chuck Billy (vocals), Alex Skolnick (guitar), Eric Peterson (guitar), Steve DiGiorgio (bass) and John Tempesta (drums) to give the songs a "modern, updated" feel. Also making an appearance on "First Strike Still Deadly" is the group's original vocalist — in the days when TESTAMENT was known as LEGACY — Steve Souza ( EXODUS, DUBLIN DEATH PATROL), on "Alone In The Dark" and "Reign Of Terror".

Looks like testament are getting some overdue respect by being added with the behemoths of metal...........all I can say is,"What took you all so long?" Testament will destroy all these bands & Metallica(yes, I know there not on the bill). I agree 'Uh huh', take Motorhead off, never been into them, even though they influenced a lot of the bands I like. Put Overkill on the bill, atleast they'll be able to keep up with Testament..............2 bands that still have enough venom in them to kill yer!

Last year Rob Zombie was supposed to do Heaven and Hell. He did Ozzy instead and Cooper ended up doing Heaven and Hell. It's not official until it's official. So until then, it's a rumor, regardless of what Billy says.

Testament & Lamb of God & Exodus & Devil Driver = The ultimate in good friendly violent fun!!!! BRING IT ON!!!!!
Now that would be the ultimate line-up bit of old and a bit of new!!!
The only problem is that without a crap band or 2 there's no time to go to the bar for a well deserved drink/rest/recharge like when In flames played at the unholy alliance!!!! that was the only good thing about them being on the bill!!!!!

I have been into them since the days of cassette tapes. My band opened for them at The Whisky A Go Go back in 2000 and they kicked ass. It was the first and only time I was able to see them live and in such a small club, it was awesome. I was always amazed that they never ruled atop the metal heap where they belonged. IMO they were always better then Anthrax, Exodus, Metallica and Megadeth and were only rivaled by Slayer. But that's just my opinion, strictly based on my own tastes.

I have 8 of the new Testament tracks already. They are nothing short of bad ass. The Persecuted Won't Forget and Fear are my two favorites right now. I'm sure that will change dependent on the day and mood. You are going to touch yourself when you hear this CD. April 29th is going to be a great day. I haven't seen Testament since 1990. I can't wait. Testament May 3rd at the Pearl Room. See you in the pit.

It will be an amphitheater tour, so doors will open at 6 the earliest (probably more like 7). With 3 bands on the bill, Motorhead were probably only going to get 45 mins already, now with Testament they'll be playing only 25-30 mins like when they were disrespected on the small stage at Ozzfest in 1998. I say leave Testament off.

The other bands if they have to play AFTER Testament. Good luck living up to that. It's like back in the 90s when Alice In Chains played AFTER Pantera on a tour or two. It didn't work then, and it sure as hell won't work now if Testament isn't headlining.

I have to say "IF" this happens, any European metalhead worth his salt will look to North America with envy...
And anyone who says anything negative about any one of these bands should have their rank of metalhead revoked. Because as you should know, metal encompases alot more than just one or two playing styles, and the bands metioned here are pretty much the best at what they do.
I say bring them on!!!

Yeah, Ace Of Spades rules, but have you bought any of their last 100 albums? Of course not, because they're not that fucking good! Lemmy is cool and all, but he can't fucking sing. End of story! So I repeat... "
actually i have every album by Motorhead as well as every album by Judas Priest, Testament and Black Sabbath w/ Dio (Heaven & Hell have released only 1 album under that name)...
obviously not every Motorhead album is perfect but the same goes for Judas Priest and Motorhead...Sabbath w/ Dio is the only one where i would say every album is spot on (and yes, that includes Dehumanizer)

also, i've had the privilege of seeing Heaven & Hell, Motorhead and Judas Priest live and this is how i feel about them...
Heaven & Hell: easily the most impressive...Geezer Butler has the greatest right hand ever and just getting to see Iommi tearing it up with Dio singing his lungs out was enough to make a grown man cry
Motorhead: without a doubt the most entertaining of the three...the size of the hall doesn't matter, they act like they're playing at any ol' bar and just let it rip...just pure rock n' roll fun...
Judas Priest: 2 words: bas ass...but of course they are...they were quite impressive to watch but not all that much fun, Halford is getting a bit old i guess because he was basically glued to one part of the stage and most of the time was staring at said stage...that doesn't take away from the awesomeness of the show but it doesn't help...Tipton and Downing rule!

...I saw H&H w/ 'deth and Machine Head up in Albany...H&H were great that night, all members played / sang their asses off.
I've seen Priest and agree - they're still gods, but Halford has definitely "slowed down" (although to be fair, he was never a Bruce Dickinson type, jumping around). Only problem w/ a short-of-headlining Priest set is that it will be fairly predictable...i.e. - all the greatest hits, ending w/ LAM, HBFL + YGATC.
Fuck the naysayers - Motorhead are my all-time fave band. Have seen them a # of times + they always deliver. I also have EVERY one of their studio albums. Yes, there are "misses" in the catalog (like any worthy band), but way more hits.
I've seen Testament a couple of times...they will likely be out for blood opening a show like this.
I just hope this lineup comes through - I just may cr*p myself.

Testament most likely is going to open for the rest of the bands on the bill and IMO, Testament is the best band on the tour.

I don't know who heaven and hell is... but i'm a strong listener of motorhead, priest, and testament... they should just make this tour amazing as hell, throw on overkill like that one dude said... because they definetly diserve to be on it, maybe dismember also? they just came out with a new album... i mean, if your gonna throw thrash metal and some N.W.O.B.H.M., you may as well have some good death metal.. am i right?

I also have every Motorhead release as well as every Halford Priest release. Motorhead is my personal favorite mainly for being the best live band. The worst Motorhead albums are much better than the worst Priest albums hands down!
