NINE INCH NAILS recently launched an online film festival showcasing short films made by fans to accompany music from the new NINE INCH NAILS album, "Ghosts I – IV". According to a press release, the NINE INCH NAILS channel on YouTube, which went live on March 13, is accepting submissions immediately through May 1. Music from "Ghosts I – IV" will be available for filmmakers starting on April 1 through YouTube's AudioSwap channel. Submissions will be personally reviewed by Trent Reznor, who will host a festival featuring the best entries at a later date.

Reznor released "Ghosts I – IV" online on March 2. The two-hour collection of 36 untitled instrumental tracks was made available in various high-quality DRM-free formats at different price levels. According to a press statement, a total of 781,917 copies of the project were transacted at NIN.com in the first week of release, including paid and free downloads, plus pre-orders for physical editions of the set. The total gross earned was reported as $1,619,420.

The expensive "ultra-deluxe" limited edition of "Ghosts I - IV" sold out almost instantly despite a steep $300 price tag. A digital version is available for five dollars, along with a $75 limited edition "deluxe" package. A $10 double CD version and a $39 vinyl edition will be available at U.S. retail on April 8.

It's a really cool idea, The Residents did it about two years ago and got some really great submissions from all over the world.

My comment was directed towards Skinny Puppy. I'm not sure about him being back.

So, here's a wild train of ideas...Robin is back with NIN since Velvet Revolver is breaking up and the original GnR is getting back together...sounds somewhat feasable, right?

BTW, I saw Dizzy Reed's GnR cover band in Atlanta last night, and they were terrible! I guess Axl is letting Dizzy go out there and make $500 a night on his songs while they are inactive though...but damn Dizzy, you couldn't have put a better band together? Shit, even Adler's GnR cover band puts you guys to shame!

and after being forced to listen to more songs than the first couple hits, i grudgingly conceded that -- for what they do -- they do it great.

and they put on an awesome live show. really atmospheric and different.

no, it's not metal, but it's heavy in it's own way. if you like atmosphere, melody, some aggression, check 'em out.

killer live show. again, for what it is. you can't compare NIN to Kreator, let's say.

cheers.

Trent wasn't dealing with any other band members and he was doing NIN alone? Or was that just for recording??

If by reformed means the last line-up then a big fuck no I won't go see you live again Trent! I picked up the blu-ray sampler for that live video and you don't even sing the full songs many times now. You had the emo guitarists in the band sing parts that you used to. NIN is sad and lame now. Go pick up some PIG, KMFDM, and even OHGR cds if you want to listen to something good that you haven't before. NIN is dead unless they have the 90s lineup or a brand new one.
