CHRIS CORNELL Taps Hip Hop Producer TIMBALAND For New Solo Album - Mar. 27, 2008
Former AUDIOSLAVE/SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell has tapped hip hop and R&B superstar Timbaland to produce Chris' third solo album.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest of Los Angeles's 102.7 KIIS-FM this morning (Thursday, March 27), Timbaland — who has worked with Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and a host of other big names — called his collaboration with Cornell "the best work I've done in my career."

Cornell stated about the unlikely pairing, "This is different from anything I've ever done. I've come from an indie rock world, where, if you have a producer, it's somebody who's not a musician, not a songwriter. He's just someone who twists knobs and can kinda tell you if they think a song is too long or too short or needs to be more aggressive. Tim's a songwriter, so I was working with him in a collaboration, sort of as if we were in a band."

According to the World Entertainment News Network, Cornell called the new album, which hasn't got a release date at present, "a highlight of my career."

Timbaland added, "This will be everybody's favorite album of this year."

Haha pop smop. Cornell only made one worthy album and it's the first Audioslave, before and after that he's a total crapface.

Timbaland is dope, but I don't know about this. Cornell is kind of a has-been now.

He is talented enough to take really crappy acts and at least make them listenable...

Not a fan of his pop stuff, but anyone who can write that many hits gets props. I don't think they will make big hits or anything, but I love the weird collaboration, it should be interesting.

timbaland is one of the most innovative producers in all of music today, but the closed-minded idiots on here wouldn't know anything about that...

I think this is an awful idea. I love the first 4 Soundgarden records. Most of Cornell's other stuff I find very lackluster. Audioslave included. When I first heard that Chris Cornell would be fronting what was left of Rage Against the Machine, I was thrilled. Then the album came out and it was boring radio rock. I don't really like hip-hop, but I do think Timbaland is talented. This goes together like hamburger and ice cream. I'm gonna go listen to Ultramega ok.

Timberland is great at making hits but I dont see cornell doing anything with his solo act no matter who he has producing the album....go back to where you came from chris and we all know where that is.

Is Chris gonna start having an R&B chick sing the hooks, and he is gonna start dancing like Justin Timberlake? He needs to stop this and do a Soundgarden reunion, NOW!

But I will reserve judgement until it hits my ears.

If I hate it, I have plenty of other Cornell music to listen to.

I believe musicians should do what the fuck they WANT to do.

If we like it, cool, if not, move on.

Tim did do a good fuck up job on the new Duran Duran.
He's no Colin Thurston and unfortunately he even made John Taylor use pre-recorded bass loops instead of playing on most of the album. I guess we can figure that 90% of this album will be pre-recorded loops as well.

Weird combo, but it might work since everything Timbaland touches seems to be a big hit.
I love Soundgarden, and Euphoria morning but I think Chris's voice is getting shot. In Audioslave it sounded like he was straining his voice, but whatever.
But no more James Bond theme songs, please.

...do you guys know what Timbaland (ebonic spelling) did to fuck up the latest Duran Duran album? What the hell are you doing on a metal site? Go to some other message board and post, like I'MAPOPMUSICPUSSYPOSERFAGHIPHOPLOVER.COM and rant about how you're hungry like a wolf.

As for Cornell, he hasn't recorded anything worthwhile since Soundgarden broke up, so he can do what he wants, his voice is shot anyway.

I hope you're right. He was here a couple of months ago but missed the show. I just prefer it when he sings rather than tries to scream.
Is the second solo CD worth picking up?
