MATT SORUM: I Wish SCOTT WEILAND Well - Apr. 3, 2008
VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum has posted the following message on his official blog:

"Hey, friends. Want to give a very special thanks to our amazing crew, These are the guys and girl that work there asses off bouncing around on a tour bus then getting up after no sleep to set up all the gear, get the dressing rooms ready, food for the crew and band etc etc. Hard-working dedicated people who love the traveling rock 'n' roll show. They are the foundation of VELVET REVOLVER. Love U guys!!!!

"And as you all know by now, it was our last show with [singer] Scott Weiland [on April 1 in Amsterdam].

"It was great to be in the UK and Europe playing for all you great fans. Thank you for your support as well as your passion. You people go crazy and we love it.

"Took some pictures with my girl in Amsterdam before we left for the airport today.

"Feeling good about the future. Going to get back to work right away on some new music and hope to have exciting news soon.

"As for Scott, I wish him well."

I just hope that this will be the turning point for VR, and they turn into a real band now.

Scott Weiland is a fucking douche, and I predict we won't ever hear much more from him again after this upcoming STP tour.

Except for arrests and ODs that is ;)

1. Lenny Kravitz- I Think this is the best choice. Much better vocalist and lyricist than Weiland, and has a large fan base to draw from. Could end up doing for VR what Sammy did for VH.
2. John Corabi- Great choice on talent, and I would be happy, but he doesn't have the track record. I'd even bet the label will put the kibosh on him.
3. Bach- No fucking way for two reasons. First, he's too close with Axl, and second they don't want the drama associated with him.
4. Josh Todd- Good choice, but he sounds too much like Axl and Buckcherry are doing quite well.
5. David Cook- The current American Idol contestant can sing, and his fifteen minutes are now, so it will bring that audience to VR.
6. Chris Cornell- Way too selfish to be in a band anymore.

I have never posted before, but feel the need here. It seems that there is probably issues on both sides. That being said, it seems the VR guys are trying to take the high road and Scott as usual is blaming everyone but himself. He has been fired by STP twice before. I am a fan of VR, STP, and Scott so none of this is surprising. I do think it says a lot for everyone that they stuck it out and finished this leg of the tour. They also seemed to be putting on a decent show. I have seen VR twice and STP twice and neither disappointed. I know everyone has there opinion and that is mine.

i saw "the rise of velvet revolver" on tv. i remember matt was getting shit from duff because they had one singer fly in from london england, and matt didn't give the guy a chance...so duff told matt that his attitude sucked because he didn give the guy auditioning a chance...and he was really giving matt shit...later on in the show...matt is heard saying that he thought they should be getting someone who was already established, and they of course got the guy that ened up doing the cd's and tours and has now left the group...

but i thought to myself at the time, when i saw this show...what a fucking old boys club l.a. must be...this is the reason the music business is so shit for rock bands these days, they are all only into getting old boys instead of letting someone new into the fold, there is nbo new blood.

serves matt right for choosing the guy he did over someone who got on a plane and flew across the ocean to have a shot...

scott looks like dale gribble from "king of the hill" anyways with his sunglasses on, rusty shackleford...

all musicians are assholes.

prove me wrong, kids, prove me wrong

WE ALL KNOW HE GETS SCARIER WITH HIS DEEP PSYCHO BABBLE AND ... IT MUST BE EVEN THE THOUGHT OF HIM BEING A LOSER ...MAYBE SCOTT WILL WRITE A SONG HE WILL STICK TO PROBABLY HOW NOT TO HAVE THIS ANYMORE IS SUCH A ...BUT THEN AGAIN...

Slash, Duff, and Matt should realize the future is GNR, or concede to playing small clubs again. Take The Panic Channel for example, Jane's Addiction with a different singer, but it tanked miserably.

anyone who thinks baz won't stop whacking it to axl and join VR is crazy. Baz is all about self promotion and would join VR in a heartbeat (he'd be a great choice, but his style so similar to axl that it'd seem like a really good gn'r cover band...plus he can't write lyrics)...Kravitz sucks...Phil would be interesting...i'm not sue if his voice could meld with VR's style (back in the 90s hell yea), but I'd never underestimate "the kid." They should look at Rob Zombie or Chris Cornell (he's a douche but his voice is still amazing). If they go for a no name (I suggest myself), it better not be on a tv show.

Why has no one suggested PAUL DI"FUCKIN ANO. We should start a petition to get him to sing for VR like they did last year when they tried to petition him for Anthrax. THink about it Paul is more of a badass than any of the VR guys. How many of them have been banned from a first world country like Di' Anno has. Not to mention compared to these guys he has no ego. Nah it wouldn't work as Di Anno has actually made good music in the past.

leave Mike Patton out of this. We (the Faitn No More fans) need him to concentrate on a FNM reunion instead, but even this would be doubtful. He's probably working on his sounds of the whales tribute album or a duet album with Goüry Glagenflobiscsh or something.

I'd say VR is better than STP. Scott did well in both, obviously, but do you think that STP will put up with his crap? No way, STP is doomed to fail again... or they might follow VR lead and can his ass too. Whatever, I really liked both VR albums. Straight rock music, good musicianship and better lyrics than most of the crap you hear on the radio today.

I saw VR live on their first tour, they rocked. Live on stage it's Scott>>>Axl any day!! Although these videos of some of his more recent performances really show a drug induced vocal demise.
