QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS: Performance Footage Of New Song Available - Apr. 5, 2008
Video footage of QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS performing a new song, "C-lebrity", on last night's (Friday, April 4) edition of the UK's ITV "Al Murray's Happy Hour" can be viewed below.

Together Brian May, Roger Taylor and Paul Rodgers have recorded their first album's worth of material, jointly written and produced. With the title yet to be disclosed, the album is being readied for release September 1, two weeks ahead of the start of the band's tour.

Other tracks on the new QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS album will include "Say It's Not True", previously released at the end of last year by QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS as a special World Aids Day download for Nelson Mandela's 46664 HIV AIDS charity , plus a "first" for a QUEEN album — a cover version. The remaining tracks are all newly written by May, Taylor and Rodgers during the late 2007/early 2008 recording sessions.

With a new album in the pipeline — the first new studio album to carry the QUEEN name since the Freddie Mercury sessions — QUEEN is heading back on the road for a four-month tour, once again in the company of musician/singer/songwriter Paul Rodgers who joined the band for the highly successful 2005/2006 world tour, the European leg of which ended with the band's spectacular London Hyde Park open air concert before going on to play the U.S. and Japan.

In all, the band's tour was attended by more than a million people.

The QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS 28-date arena tour will take in 14 countries in just seven weeks, and take the band to Northern Eurasia, Central and Southern Europe, and the UK, and is expected to wind up at the end of the year with the band's highly anticipated return to South America, the setting of some of its most historic tours in the early '80s.

QUEEN's historic Latin America dates set new world records for the numbers of the audiences it attracted. At the 1985 Rock in Rio concert the band played to an unheard of audience of 300,000 and was watched on television by nearly 200 million people throughout the South American continent.

The 2008 tour kicks off mid-September in Russia with two dates at Moscow's SCO Olympic Arena, moves on into Poland for a massive free concert at the historic Gdansk Shipyard, and then follows a path through Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands before arriving in the UK early October for 6 dates including London's 02 Arena on October 13.

The UK dates see the band additionally play Nottingham, Glasgow, Cardiff and Birmingham with a final UK date at Liverpool Arena on October 18 before continuing on to Spain, Hungary, Serbia, Czech Republic and Austria for seven further dates.

QUEEN's last studio album was "Made In Heaven", released in November 1995 and containing the last recordings with Freddie. The LP became the band's biggest selling studio album, with world sales in excess of 20 million.

QUEEN's "Greatest Hits 1" album has achieved the distinction of being the UK's biggest selling album of all time, having sold a staggering 5,407,587 copies in Britain alone (source: VH1/The Official UK Charts Company. November 2006).

Paul Rodgers' voice is one of rock's platinum assets and as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter as front man of FREE and BAD COMPANY and as a solo artist he has written, produced and recorded some of radios biggest hits.

Between them, QUEEN and Paul Rodgers have released more than 50 albums during their long careers and sold in excess of a staggering 300 million records.

AS long as they call it "Queen and Paul Rodgers" and not "Queen", I don't have a problem with it.

BUT...

Because I do not believe they should go out under the name "Queen" (yeah, I know - it's Queen PLUS Paul Rodgers....whatever), I have decided to rename the band.

Bipolar Rage Run

or...

Mayday Terror Logs.

If I do buy whatever the band comes up with, I will erase the name from the cover and replace it with whichever of the above two names I choose. Here is to hope for some good stuff.

Okay, I will probably get ripped good for this comment, but someone like George Michael would have been a better fit for Queen. He is flamboyant and can sing his ass off, ala Freddy Mercury. Paul Rodgers, great in his BC days just doesn't seem to work with this line up. The Chuck Norris comment was hilarious.

Yeah, if they are billed as "Queen and Paul Rodgers" I really don't see a problem with it. Freddy Mercury was Queen imo.

And, yes that riff in the verse does sound a lot like that Tenacious D song.

Freddie is spinning in his grave right now. This is a good, solid rock song, and I respect that Brian & Roger want to continue playing and making music, but no Freddie, no John Deacon = No Queen!

freddies dead and deacon has retired so get over it alreadt. when you hear the guitar and backing vocals you know it's queen so why not call it that. they aren't trying to replace mercury which is why they didn't get somone who sounds like him or tries to imatate his stage presence which you can't.Paul Rodgers has one of the top 5 voices in rock history and has never put out a bad record solo or with a band. name anyone else who sttill sounds as good today as he did 40 years ago. don't bother because you can't . don't buy it if you don't like it but stop slagging it,Brian and Rodger were just as much responsible for the queen sound as freddie was so let them alone already.

ultraman - yeah, george michael was supposed to do it, but he's got drug problems that prevented it working out at that time. would have been fantastic, have you seen the video of them doing "somebody to love" together?

robbie williams was also supposed to give it a shot but that fell apart for managerial reasons i believe

They are establishing a new identity, much more respectful than attempting to replace Freddie with a soundalike. The new song sounds pretty good.

As a life long Queen fan, I think this song is kick ass and I have NO problem with one of the greatest living rock singers taking over for Freddie. What would you rather have them do, sit at home?
Freddie would be glad they were continuing, the man himself said the show must go on.

First that "Say it isn't so" and now this "C-lebrity" ? Ugh. Weak shit. They should have been able to do better than this. This doesn't bode well for them does it? I'm a huge Paul Rodger's fan, and I've always loved/respected Brian May's playing. I'm just not excited about this "band" or the material I've heard so far. Very disappointing. Maybe Paul should stick to his solo career or get back with BC. Brian and Roger Taylor should form a new band.

Pretty straight-ahead rock song for them. Not bad. Paul sounds great, and Brian's tearing it up as usual.

I still won't be paying $200 to see them tho. ;)
