Is AXL ROSE Headed To Reality TV? - Apr. 8, 2008
Rick Ellis of AllYourTV.com reports that a major music-oriented television channel has pitched an idea for a reality series to Axl Rose, according to sources close to the project.

The show, which would appear on a cable channel that asked not to be identified, would follow the troubled rocker as he continues his decade-long effort to release the GUNS N' ROSES project "Chinese Democracy".

Rose has been laboring on tracks for the project on-and-off since mid-1994, and in both 2006 and 2007 gave several interviews promising the album would be finished "within the year."

According to sources at Geffen (Rose's music label) a version of "Chinese Democracy" has been finished and delivered to the label. But there are still outstanding issues between the singer and the label, not the least of which is a recording cost for the project which (depending on who you believe), has reached between $11 and $15 million. Another stickler is the digital rights for the tracks, along with some proposed "bonus" tracks Geffen would like to release digitally.

Classic.

Yeah, maybe he can make some of the millions back that he's wasted on this so called "album". Yeah, that's right. Millions wasted and nothing to show for it.

Hey, even if this "album" does eventually come out, how long will it take for him to realease another one after that? This is not a band beople. Bands release music. This guy is a loser.

Yeah, I did the RA666 thing. This one here (Axl Rose), I modified using an image I came across showing Indiana Jones reaching for the Dr. Pepper.

And here is one I did up for a Chinese Democracy cover:

What I've heard from it anyway, I think its more concise than the Use Your Illusions. "Better" contains a sweep arpeggio, one of the first time we'll hear neo classical shred guitar on the radio since the eighties (well other than some of the more accomplished metalcore groups).

He should just leak it and then reunite with the original GNR.

What a sad saga for a misunderstood man.

If it focuses on record label politics, studio work, mixing/remixing, mastering and the process of promoting and releasing Chi-Dem. If it's behind the scenes of making the album, it would be entertaining and great promotion for Chi-Dem. If it's Osbournes/Family Jewels bullshit, I'm not watching

As someone who knows family members, even a few friends who suffer from Bi-Polar disorder, I object to your assumption that Axl is only a "douche" and not a "troubled Rocker". Bi-polar disorder is a very serious condition that Psychiatry/Psychology has only started to come to grips to understand.

Axl rose actually would be better compared to Brian Wilson, someone who didn't do tons of acid like Barrett but has serious mental conditions, and who can forget the whole saga of the "lost" Beach Boys album "Smile", only recently released in its original intended format.

COMMENT | I agree Bi-polar is a serious condition

But Im not sure how that plays into an album not getting released for 13 years. Maybe obsessive compulsive is more like it? I want to hear the stuff as much as the rest of the fans. But Im not sure how to point the finger other than being a dick and saying hes a Douche. After all its his baby and it's overbaked. That 'baby' has reached puberty at this point....

And I never knew he was Bi Polar? Anyway...

So basically if Axl does something like this (doubt it, but let's suppose he does), he's going to turn into Ozzy Osbourne and Chinese Democracy will go the way of the Ozzy/Sabbath album or, even worse, Black Rain. :O

Yeah he was written about having bipolar disorder years ago. I don't know if its true. However it appears so - he goes from ultra enrgized maniac to really down it seems.

And I hope he doesn't do a fucking reality show. I don't think he would. BTW Axl has more money than he did when he started CD. The record co. spent the money, at leats up to the 10 million mark. Good news about how its actually turned in and complete.

Heavy metal singer Axl Rose has been included on every list of celebrities with bipolar disorder for years. Rose himself has stated he was diagnosed manic-depressive, but that he isn't sure the diagnosis is correct. A history like his might fit the profile for bipolar illness but could equally well fit other conditions as well.
Rose, who was raised as Bill Bailey, describes his childhood in mostly angry terms. He speaks of physical and sexual abuse, of a mother who was never there for him, of a stepfather who whacked him for singing along with Barry Manilow's "Mandy." He talks about singing songs of Elvis in front of the smaller children at recess when he was in third grade. He tells stories of witnessing astonishing things springing from a fervent Pentecostal upbringing, and winning prizes for learning Bible verses, yet being unable to believe anything of what he was taught.

By the age of 16, young Bill had developed into a "full-fledged juvenile delinquent," and was banned from his parents' home. He was jailed many times, though says he was not guilty except for some arrests for underage drinking. At 17 he learned that the man who had raised him, Stephen Bailey, was not his natural father, and adopted his natural father's surname of Rose. "Axl" was the name of one of his early bands. Pundits have noted that "Axl Rose" is an anagram of "oral sex," which may have appealed to the rebellious young man.

At 18 Axl hitchhiked to Los Angeles to seek his fortune. There he met up with school friend Izzy Stradlin, and over the next several years the two struggled their way toward success, sometimes living on the streets, playing wherever and whenever they could. The band Guns N' Roses, formed in 1985, had enough success to start playing as a lead act for established groups, and eventually made a name for themselves.

Between 1987 and 1991, Axl was arrested several times for assault. At some point he was diagnosed as bipolar and put on lithium; one source says he also underwent anger management therapy. Axl himself has been quoted in Rolling Stone as saying, "I'm very sensitive and emotional and things upset me and make me feel like not functioning or dealing with people... I went to a clinic, thinking it would help my moods. The only thing I did was to take one 500 question test - ya know, filling in the little black dots. All of a sudden I'm diagnosed manic-depressive. 'Let's put Axl on medication.' Well, the medication doesn't help me deal with the stress. The only thing it does is help keep people off my back because they figure I'm on medication."

It's impossible to say categorically whether Axl Rose is bipolar. Some of his behaviors - explosive anger, alcohol use in youth, substance abuse - could point to this, but could also be signs of post-traumatic stress disorder or other affective disorders. Accounts of his life give information about his childhood that is conflicting at times. Yet certainly he has had a turbulent life, and by all accounts, not a happy one.
