OZZY OSBOURNE's 'Monsters Of Rock' To Hit Alberta In July - Apr. 12, 2008
According to the web site of Vancouver, British Columbia metallers 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, OZZY OSBOURNE will play at the McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on July 26, 2008 as part of a day-long event that is being dubbed "Monsters of Rock". Also scheduled to appear is 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, with other acts to be announced.

As previously reported, OZZY OSBOURNE and METALLICA are strongly rumored to be headlining this summer's Ozzfest. According to our sources, this year's edition of Ozzfest will consist of two separate two-day (Saturday/Sunday) events — one of which will be held in Dallas — in late July/early August, with OZZY headlining one day and METALLICA the other.

The rumors come in the wake of this year's arrival of the metal-oriented Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, which will play 30 North American amphitheaters during July and August, the time when Ozzfest is traditionally making its rounds.

Last year's Ozzfest offered free admission, with fans acquiring tickets mostly through sponsoring web sites. But the acts were not paid either, which resulted in a decidedly less than impressive main stage lineup. The Mayhem trek has already robbed Ozzfest of two potential main-stage heavyweights in DISTURBED and SLIPKNOT, with fan favorites DRAGONFORCE and MASTODON also taking part in the Mayhem tour.

I live in Calgary and there hasn't been a concert at McMahon Stadium for about 25+ years (to the best of my recollection) due to local noise by-laws. The last concert there (I think) was Supertramp in the late 70's (early 80's?)

Why would he do a one-off in Calgary? Maybe because Maiden sold out so quickly they figured it might a profitable show.

I hope it is true!

I was just thinking about Ozzy on my way back from the store. I picked up some candy (those orange gummy slices with the sugar coating). I was thinking that Ozzy would make an interesting political leader. If the Kennedys can do it then why can't Ozzy? Please discuss amongst yourselves.

As much as I love them both the only tour I'm waiting on is the official announcement of the Testament, Motorhead, Heaven and Hell, Judas Priest tour. To me that may be the best lineup ever for a show.

I was at that show too. Ever since Chuck confirmed this I keep checking for dates, I can't wait. It is a shame though that Testament only gets 30 minutes.

Even when Ozzfest was free last year, it was still a killer show in West Palm Beach. Let's see about this year.

Ozzy TOOK EVERY GOOD BAND out on tour with him when his solo career took off. Dude, Metallica opened for him during the MOP tour and sadly blew him off the stage and he STILL kept them for the whole tour!! You must be a kid and that's ok...Ozzy has been good to a LOT of bands.

Something’s coming over the mountain. You better take cover, Canada, because the Monsters of Rock are coming your way! Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne has drawn upon the sinister power of Ozzfest to create the biggest, meanest, loudest f**king rock festival you can imagine - THE MONSTERS OF ROCK. This one-day celebration of the heaviest music in the universe is landing exclusively in the Great White North at Calgary’s McMahon Stadium on Saturday July 26!

Ozzy Osbourne makes his long-awaited return to Calgary, doing what he loves best - making rock fans go f**king crazy! The Prince of Darkness will hit the stage with band mates Zakk Wylde, Michael Bordin, Blasko and Adam Wakeman to perform a blistering set of classics from his 38-year career as rock’s purveyor of heavy metal, including songs from his latest earth-shattering (and certified platinum) album, “Black Rain.”

Judas Priest are truly iconic figures in metal, having spent 30 years writing & recording classic tracks and performing spectacular live shows. The band have sold in excess of 30 million albums, and thrilled audiences around the world. The definitive line up of Rob Halford (vocals), Glenn Tipton (guitar), K.K Downing (guitar), Ian Hill (bass) and Scott Travis (drums), who reformed in July 2003, will release their new album, “Nostradamus,” this year.

Serj Tankian is best known as the soaring voice of Ozzfest veterans System of a Down, but he has successfully struck out on his own with a new sonic assault; Hatebreed have redefined hard rock as a uplifting force against the ills of the world; Cavalera Conspiracy is the latest project for Sepultura founders (and brothers) Max and Igor Cavalera; Shadows Fall always provide a bracing blast of extreme metal in their furious performances; Voivod will reunite for a rare live performance, which will include a tribute to the band’s original guitarist, the late Denis "Piggy" d'Amour.

Also included in this stunning, hard-hitting line-up are American metal warriors Testament, Canadian dragon-slaying heroes 3 Inches Of Blood, Montreal’s swaggering headbangers Priestess, and Vancouver’s metal jesters Zimmers Hole. (More bands TBA).

THE MONSTERS OF ROCK will provide metal fans a unique opportunity to see the greatest champions of hard rock together on a single stage. No other music event this year will come close the matching the power and intensity of this legendary gathering. Don’t miss your opportunity to take part in hard rock history!

Tickets go on sale Friday April 18 at 12 noon at all Ticketmaster outlets, charge-by-phone, and online at Ticketmaster.ca and UnionEvents.com for $119.50 - 49.50. VIP packages, which will include express admission, laminate, floor access and a private hospitality area, will also be available for a limited time (must be 18 and older to purchase).
