STONE TEMPLE PILOTS To Release DVD Of HOUDINI Estate Performance - Apr. 21, 2008
According to HardDrive Radio, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS plan to release a DVD of their April 7, 2008 private show at the Houdini estate in Los Angeles, where the band officially announced its reunion, sometime in the near future. There's no word on what other features might be included with the disc, or whether the band will also film shows on its upcoming summer tour.

"This is home for us," guitarist Dean DeLeo told MTV.com after the band announced it would be heading out this summer on a full-fledged, 65-date reunion run. "I'm fond of our legacy, and I'm fond of our band — I'm a fan. I get off when I'm riding down the highway and an STP track comes on the radio. I get off on that."

"The story's not finished," Scott Weiland told The Associated Press. "There's more to be revealed and more to be told."

Bassist Robert DeLeo said the band plans to record a new album after the tour, which is set to wrap in November.

"The whole record machine is fucked up now, so we really want to get to a place of having some freedom, because we have a lot of leverage," Weiland told MTV.com. "We have sold almost 40 million records, and we're in a position of power. We want to be free agents, whether it's putting our records out ourselves, or doing some interesting, very creative deal with a nontraditional major record label. The system as it is now ... that formula does not work. We've seen it; we'll need to do things differently, do things wiser."

According to Robert DeLeo, the band has already started crafting material, and he anticipates they'll probably end up writing 100 songs before tracking the effort. The band wouldn't comment on the record beyond that, according to MTV.com.

The band will make its first national TV appearance since reuniting on the May 1 edition of ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

STP had some decent songs, until they went too commercial. Weiland is such a douche, so I could really care less what this band does now.

Yeah too commercial their first album was their most commercially successful album and after that to you they must have went too commercial... you are the douche. STP played what they wanted to and every album was different with a new vibe. Get over yourself if you think they went too commercial they were a rock band in the spotlight from the moment "Plush" came out. They were never some underground act that was playing some underground music. To say a band that has always been in the commercial spot like so to speak is too commercial is stupid.

I have to call and idiot when I see one. Must not be wasting time if you are lame enough to respond to it. To be honest it was a relevant comment because it had to do with the topic posted above. So it was relevant to the conversation. Playing the over done and lame role of "its just the internet man ha ha" is the true was of people's time as well as your own. The fact that you keep responding no matter what means you are pathetically sitting at home waiting for people to respond so you can say something witty in return. Grow up and get a life.

No one wastes as much time as you do on your 5,000 posts about RiotAct every day. Why don't both of you just admit you love each other and get married... he can be the "yes" man and you can be the "no" body or I mean "no" one... oh just yourself. Seriously madeinquebec you have some valid post but lately you have become RiotAct's biggest fan.

It was a non-rocking laugh riot! Their first album was good and then after that they had some good songs on each one after that. If you take albums 2-5 you can get one great disc. Ooooh! Sounds like limewire time.

It went downhill after that in my opinion. Tiny Music was good though. I doubt that they will record another album in the same caliber as Purple though.

But. They were never an original band to begin with anyway. They never were the originators. God bless De Leo brothers, but Weiland constantly stole vocal melodies, vocal styles, even lines from other vocalists. Hell, he even started using heroin because Layne Staley was using it and he made the headlines with it!! Weiland has always been their weak point but without him, no STP anyway.

But I'd rather like to see Soundgarden reforming. They were much greater and originators.

Scott Weiland is one of the best going today, hands down. Alot better then that death metal shit. He's a great performer and one hell of a singer/songwriter.

when the fuck did STP go commercial? have you heard any of their later albums? ok maybe 1-2 songs but the rest is even great and far from commercial. and who where originators at the time they came out? no1 realy, maybe soundgarden, but AIC, Nirvana, Pearl Jam werent originators realy, they just made good music, but i dont like nirvana much. and calling STP some Pearl Jam clone like they where at first is just stupid, its just people who litsten to 1-2 songs an album(just the hits), Core is much more straight out rock record then anything pearl jam ever made. yea and VR was a great band, much better then most of the crap on radio today. and so what if he was a drugaddict? most great musicians, artists have benn drug addicts and people like Freud and and many more people have looked up to in history have been drug addicts, that usually means the music is more about the music and doing something new and exciting and people who give the time to listen will like it more then the "normal" person. but in the end the drugs get to people and they start to make some shit but that havent happen yet to Weiland so thats good. thanx

My comment is irrelevant because I'm not someone that people look to for an opinion. If I was a well-known music journalist, etc. then I would say that my comments are relevant, but since I'm not, they aren't. You're like most of the robots on here: easy to get riled up and even easier to laugh at once your lame retorts start flowing.

Let me make this clear: fuck STP. They were commercial from day one, and will continue to be until the day they split up again and again and again. Besides, how can a band that has sold 40 million albums, aside from the Dead and Phish, not be considered commercial? They can't, so fuck off.
