APOCALYPTICA: 'Worlds Collide' First-Week U.S. Sales Revealed - Apr. 23, 2008
"Worlds Collide", the new album from the Finnish cello quartet APOCALYPTICA, sold 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 59 on The Billboard 200 chart. The impressive opening tally was driven in large part by the success of the CD's first single, "I'm Not Jesus", a Top 10 hit at rock radio which features a guest appearance by Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR). The song's accompanying video, which was filmed in in Los Angeles with director Tony Petrossian (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, RISE AGAINST, SLIPKNOT), can be viewed below. Other guest musicians on the CD include Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), Tomoyasu Hotei (superstar Japanese composer, whose credits include the "Kill Bill" soundtrack), Joseph Duplantier (GOJIRA) and Cristina Scabbia (LACUNA COIL). Backing vocals for the effort were laid down by Swedish singer Mats Levén (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, THERION, KRUX, TREAT, AT VANCE).

According to The Pulse of Radio, APOCALYPTICA has enlisted FUEL frontman Toryn Green to handle lead vocals on the remainder of the quartet's current North American tour, which began on April 11 and continues through mid-May. The group initially enlisted vocalist Johnny Andrews, who co-wrote the band's current single, "I'm Not Jesus", to sing on the trek, but Andrews has been replaced after just a handful of shows. In addition to "I'm Not Jesus", Andrews also co-wrote another track called "S.O.S. (Anything But Love)".

The best tracks were the ones without the vocals in my opinion...

That this is a good song and the video is cool too. I am a fan of Corey, Slipknot and Stone Sour (though I wasn't too impressed with their last album), and I think he did good on this. Never heard Apocalyptica's music before either, but I may have to look into some more now...

Everyone I've met originally thinks this band is gay/weak/retarded because they think cello's are stupid but then a week later they are like "yeah this band is actually pretty solid"

These guy's were so much better without a backing band, just 4 cello's, and whenever they bring a singer on tour with they sound like cock-rock! Their first couple albums (of mostly cover songs) were very impressive, now the cello's don't even sound like cello's anymore, but in music everything has to evolve!

COMMENT | No Singer !

without vocal, they are better. Whenever someone sings in their songs, they are like other middle rated metal bands .
