SCOTT WEILAND Working On Second Solo Album
- Apr. 24, 2008
|
|
|
According to The Pulse of Radio, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and former VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland told satellite shock jock Howard Stern on Wednesday morning (April 23) that he is currently working on his second solo album with producer Steve Albini for a November release. Weiland was joined on the call by NO DOUBT drummer Adrian Young, who is also playing on the record. A release date and title have yet to be revealed. Weiland's first solo effort, "12 Bar Blues", was issued in 1998.
Weiland, who was dismissed from VELVET REVOLVER on April 1, has reunited with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS for a lengthy spring and summer tour, beginning in mid-May at Columbus, Ohio's Rock on the Range festival.
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS has tentative plans to enter the studio later this year once they're done with their mammoth summer reunion tour, but fans shouldn't expect to hear any new material in the upcoming trek's live set list. Bassist Robert DeLeo told The Pulse of Radio that the group plans to reacquaint itself and its fans with STP's previous five albums first. "I think new material will come probably after this tour, but I think getting back to the things that got us together, the songs and the material and the reasons we got together in the first place, I think, is a strong place to start, and just make this something that is enjoyable for everyone," he said. "Enjoyable for us, enjoyable for the fans, enjoyable for people that are coming to the show."
Fans are encouraged to submit song requests for the tour set list at the band's official web site.
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS officially announced their reunion with a private performance for about 350 people earlier this month at the Houdini Mansion in Los Angeles. The event might be released as part of a DVD.
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will perform on the May 1 edition of ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

sing along with VR songs? Is this true? Or is it a figment of my imagination?
Question... Can Scott sing on his solo album if a drummer or drum tech is in the building? Because they might want to sing along you know...
Oh and the new album should be titled 'Orange Juice On Sunset Blvd'!

I love how people jump all over weiland for no reason at all. I certainly don't agree with what he does with his personal life, but the guy puts out incredible music with stp. I don't care much for his solo album so I didn't buy it. So what? You're gonna crucify a guy for wanting to get his OWN music out there?
I don't get why some people take some kind a personal offense to something like this. If everybody's such a goddamn expert on music, what the fuck have you've ever done???

No reason at all? Weiland's not gonna be putting out "incredible music" if he's dead.. This dude is a fucking train wreck waiting to happen. One day, they're going to find him dead with a needle in his fucking arm and I promise you, no one's going to be surprised.
But really, the worst part in all of this is that people keep taking him in. Slash and co. took Weiland in when he left STP and now STP is doing the same thing. They need to let this guy hit fucking rock bottom, and if he lives through it, maybe he'll finally have the motivation get sober and stay sober. People need to stop coddling this fucker already and look at him for what he is, a pathetic junkie.

There was a first solo album? Couldn't be happier that the "supergroups" VR and Audioslave have essentially disbanded. Both big disappointments from all of the respective members previous bands. Get Soundgarden and GNR back together and hard rock will rule the universe once again.

Steve Albini is the most pathetic excuse for a producer ever. Anybody who could put Jimmy Page & Robert Plant in the studio for the first time in decades and put out such a complete piece of dogshit like "Walking Into Clarksdale" should be forced to leave the business.

He has trouble articulating and speaking fluidly because the drugs have killed his brain cells. Look at John Frusciante when he speaks in interviews. It's the same deal, which is a shame.
