DEF LEPPARD: 'Songs From The Sparkle Lounge' Microsite Launched - Apr. 25, 2008
To coincide with the release of DEF LEPPARD's new album "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" next week, the group's UK label has launched a new "Sparkle Lounge" microsite. TheSparkleLounge.com will give fans opportunities to listen to samples of the new album, watch the video for leadoff single "Nine Lives", listen to samples of the new album, win Guitar Hero III prizes, watch a trailer for the bonus DVD (UK only), and more.

DEF LEPPARD is set to debut its 14th studio album this coming Tuesday, April 29. "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" contains 11 new songs, including the new hit single "Nine Lives", featuring a collaboration with country music superstar Tim McGraw. The song is currently sitting atop the Classic Rock chart at #1 and also holding at #14 on Mainstream Rock radio. The band will kick off the release of their new album with a slew of high-profile television performances on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" (April 29), "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" (April 30), and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" (April 29).

"Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" will include a limited-edition custom PikCARD, which unlocks the DEF LEPPARD online "Vault" (named after the band's best-selling greatest-hits CD). Inside the "Vault", DEF LEPPARD fans will have exclusive access to a variety of content, contests and memorabilia, featuring highlights such as personal photos from the road, registration to the band's fan club, entry into an exclusive contest to win backstage passes and VIP access the next time DEF LEPPARD comes to the winner's town, new album lyrics — handwritten by Joe Elliott — and a personal messages from the band.

In addition to the album, DEF LEPPARD has partnered with Activision Inc.'s Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on an epic three-song track pack that will give fans an exclusive opportunity to sample the band's new single, "Nine Lives", before their upcoming studio album hits stores. The track pack will be available starting April 24 and also features live versions of "Photograph" and "Rock of Ages", two of DEF LEPPARD's most beloved chart-toppers from their multi-platinum "Pyromania" album.

DEF LEPPARD has announced new U.S. tour dates that will kick off this August. The dates include cities that the band postponed recently due to an upper respiratory tract infection affecting the band’s lead singer, Joe Elliott.

Downloaded it, listened it to a couple of times already. Sounds a bit weak in the first listen but on the third lesson the venom sets itself free. A true return to form, kinda like Hysteria meets 70s glam rock. Not for Meatal heads though.

These guys are so full of hot air. They talk so much shit. I know that I talk shit but I've always backed up my shit talking. Def Leppard has never released a good album. Even Radiohead has two good albums on their resume. Def Leppard is all hype. ZZ Top always brings the house down, but Def Leppard only appeals to little girls.

Thank you. I just busted a nut from the hilarity of your comments. Pyromania and Hysteria are two of the greatest hard rock albums in history? I wasn't aware that legendary megahits such as "Photograph" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me" qualified as hard rock. By that same logic would you argue that "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister was the defining thrash metal anthem of the 80's? Please enlighten me because I'm not on your level. You're listening to this underground death metal onslaught known as Def Leppard and I'm just a total n00b. Please HELP ME!! Here I was believing that bands such as Van Halen, Guns n Roses and The Cult were carrying that hard rock flag in the 80's, but it was really Def Leppard all along.

Love bites, love bleeds
It's bringin' me to my knees
Love lives, love dies
It's no surprise
Love begs, love pleads
It's what I need

Man those are some abrasive hard rock lyrics.

Oh I'm sorry but it's true
You're bringin' on the heartbreak
Takin' all the best of me
Oh can't you see?
You got the best of me
Whoah can't you see?

Goddamn those profound words just knocked me on my ass. That shit is heavy as a Chevy. Damn I think my spleen just got popped from rocking out with my cock out.

A couple of songs on here have potential, some better riffs than they've had in a long time. Still nothing that touches "Desert Song."

Can't believe people fight to justify views on music on what is good and not. Music effects everyone differently. That is why there are so many bands. If we all liked the same things there would only be need for five bands to satisfy everyone.

I like def leppard. Personally i thought they got worse with every album. I missed pete willis dearly(no i'm not related to him in anyway).

This sounds like the first decent album they've made since Steve Clark died. I can't see that it's going to send me into a rocking frenzy, but it seems good enough to be worth buying and is way more than I expected from them on this one.

It would have been nice, though, if they could have included just one picture of Pete Willis in the cover art, instead of deleting him even from the old band shot.

And yeah, the guy who thinks Radiohead has made two albums that are better than On Through the Night and High 'n' Dry is quite entertaining. Even on this site, I think that qualifies him as a whacko.

The once mighty Leppard has alienated its true core fans from rock of ages ago and has mainly appealed to the teenie boppers of today. Listen back to Euphoria. Pure Back Street Boys. I can't even listen to. And touring with Styx and Reo Speedwagon. Huh? Now go listen to the High and Dry album.

the boys are all taking it in their back sides nowadays....what was that shit lip-synching on dancing with the stars???? why the fuck are they even on that show anyway......and Ellen??

Damn, now I know why I love Maiden and Priest so much because they have too much integrity and respect for their music, then to do that kind of shit.

If you love DL now, you must really be a girl.......I'd rather listen to Boston, The Helicopters, Whitesnake, ZZ top, instead of these guys, hard to believe they were considered pioneers of the NWOBHM scene alongside with Maiden........
