DEF LEPPARD's 'Sparkle Lounge' Headed For Top 10 U.S. Debut - May 1, 2008
According to Hits Daily Double (the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS), DEF LEPPARD's new album, "Songs from the Sparkle Lounge", is poised to sell between 45,000 and 50,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release for a possible Top 10 debut.

To coincide with the release of "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge", the group's UK label has launched a new "Sparkle Lounge" microsite. TheSparkleLounge.com gives fans opportunities to listen to samples of the new album, watch the video for leadoff single "Nine Lives", listen to samples of the new album, win Guitar Hero III prizes, watch a trailer for the bonus DVD (UK only), and more.

"Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" contains 11 new songs, including the new hit single "Nine Lives", featuring a collaboration with country music superstar Tim McGraw. The album includes a limited-edition custom PikCARD, which unlocks the DEF LEPPARD online "Vault" (named after the band's best-selling greatest-hits CD). Inside the "Vault", DEF LEPPARD fans have exclusive access to a variety of content, contests and memorabilia, featuring highlights such as personal photos from the road, registration to the band's fan club, entry into an exclusive contest to win backstage passes and VIP access the next time DEF LEPPARD comes to the winner's town, new album lyrics — handwritten by Joe Elliott — and a personal messages from the band.

DEF LEPPARD has announced new U.S. tour dates that will kick off this August. The dates include cities that the band postponed recently due to an upper respiratory tract infection affecting the band’s lead singer, Joe Elliott.

But then again who's been really paying attention to them since "Hysteria"? Saying you're disappointed with the new CD from Def Leppard is like saying you're disappointed that water is wet.

Why can't this band listen to it's fanbase and make the real record they've been waiting for?

A real, real grower with at least 4 classic songs on it (Tomorrow, Go, Hallucinate, Gotta Let It Go - ALL GEMS!!). It only lacks the experimentation and the depht of Hysteria. But straight 8/10 from me.

Yeah they are false. And posers. So is Manowar. Shitheads.

I had to rearrange the order just to come up with about 3 or 4 average songs to put at the front. The rest is drivel. See what happens when you don't have Mutt Lange kids ??

This album won't sell shit

I heard the one track on the myspace, it's no old school Def Lep, just a pale imitation. They said it was gonna be but it's not.

...on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (don't ask) was terrible. Actually i should specify that Joe Elliot's singing was terrible. The rest of the band sounded good. Maybe it was that Joe had bad monitors. Regardless, an atrocious performance

Passive DL listener - this album is great. It's modern rock from a classic band. Guitars are present andup front with a great bass line and drums. Go is pure adrenaline..a solid return to classic def leppard. Don't knock until you listen to it. Solid effort!

NO where near High n Dry. Much better than the last two studio albums. I truly felt after YEAH! that the fire was back. Maybe it was just a flicker this time. I would much rather play this one than the last two.

As for Whitesnake, seems more like David Coverdale and friends.

Listen, I haven't heard the new Whitesnake album but for anybody who complains about debuting at #70 you guys need to remember that Whitesnake had their moment in the spotlight back in the 80s. Remember when Tawny Kitaen was performing gymnastics on the hood of David Coverdale's Jaguar? Exactly. There's better bands than Whitesnake that never sold shit, so don't go complaining about the new album flopping in the US. On the other hand it never ceases to amaze me that Def Leppard can release any pile of donkey drippings and they still manage to hit the top ten every time. Sure they're not putting up Pyromania/Hysteria kinda numbers anymore, but then again who is these days? If this latest top ten album from Def Leppard teaches us anything it's that you should never underestimate the selling power of nostalgia or the gullibility of American consumers.

what?

depth and experimentaion? on hysteria? are you on glue? hysteria is fomulaic pop at it's worst.

if you call sickeningly sweet glossy production, DAT tapes, drum machines, layer upon layer of vocals and moronic by the numbers bass paterns deep.....then you are truly out to lunch.

the only thing these guys ever had going for them were a pair of very capable guitarists. not great, CAPABLE. but on hysteria the guitar parts are so burried in the mix or covered up by annoyingly redundant computerized drum patterns, you can't even hear a half decent riff or lick.

these guys have sucked since pyromania, and even that was a mediocre album. but at least it had the occasional "meaty" guitar part.

hysteria and everything that followed are pure crap

New Leppard is ok.

First 2 tracks are good and a couple others in the middle.

Better than X but Eurphoria was much better.

wouldn't of even of been good enough to be "B-sides" in the past except for maybe "Bad Actress". A song like "Gotta Let It Go" is contrived lyrical half assed shit. Didn't they already "Let It Go".

I expected more. Thank god music is free or I'd want my money back !

Hysteria is experimental. YES it is pop but it still is experimental.

Experimental means that the songs are not always necessarily in the pop song structure. Rocket is 6 minutes long with a tribal section, Pour some sugar on me has a rapping section, and the track called Gods Of War is not a pop song.

REMEMBER. Hysteria is a pop metal album. And it is experimental for a pop album. Because it is written as a pop album, but with experimental ideas.

And this was what made it successful. You may hate it or love it. But it IS powerful.

tribal section? more like they needed to stretch out the song to fill up space.......hysteria sucks, and every song on there follows a pop structure so i don't see any experimenting there.

what i see is a generic forumla being used.

you can call hysteria whatever you like. i call it shit. i hated it when it came out. i hated the lame ass production. and i hate it even more now because not only is it a bad album. it's also dated. it hasn't aged well at all.

it's not powerful at all. it's limp wristed and the lyrics are abominable........red light yellow light green light go...?

what the fuck is that? couldn't do any better than a nursery rhyme?

are you getting it? aramgeddon it? yeah real genius stuff here.....deep too

from the new cd is the one with that country singer. Sounds like the same crappy DL, but what is especially annoying is the lyrics. No, I should say the music is really annoying, but the lyrics aren't anything I want to hear either. It's the same old 'Let's make a hit by coming up with an idea for a song that everyone can relate to and cram as many catchphrases we can think up that fit.'
3 songs from their debut are really good (actually all of them are - no fillers) Sorrow is a woman, When the walls came tumbling down, and Overture. From lp #2 onward they went downhill fast.

i love this band. But I saw them 2 times a few years ago and Joe has lost his voice. They didn't kick the drummer out when he lost his arm,so why would they kick Joe out for..I feel bad for him ;( He should just call it a day tho. It's not the monitors.Thats what I thought. But then I saw them again.I was up close at the Rock honors.
