BLACKMORE'S NIGHT To Release 'Secret Voyage' In June - May 7, 2008
BLACKMORE'S NIGHT, the Renaissance-flavored band featuring former DEEP PURPLE/RAINBOW guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and his fiancée Candice Night, will release its new album, "Secret Voyage", in Europe on June 30 (except for Germany where it will arrive on June 27) and in the USA on June 15 via SPV.

According to a press release, "Secret Voyage" is "another kaleidoscopic musical journey through time and space, incorporating and rearranging traditional melodies from all over Europe, blending the "old" and contemporary. The brilliant guitar stylings of Ritchie Blackmore, the enchanting vocals and lyrics of singer/songwriter Candice Night and the saturation of authentic Renaissance instruments woven throughout the melodies, create a unique style of music they call Renaissance/folk/rock.

"Secret Voyage" consists of twelve new tracks, recorded by Candice Night, Ritchie Blackmore and their BAND OF MINSTRELS. This musical journey is inspired by nature and incorporates acoustic and electric guitars, strings, renaissance instruments and Candice Night's ethereal voice and mystical lyrics.

"Secret Voyage" track listing:

01. God Save The Keg
02. Locked Within The Crystal Ball
03. Gilded Cage
04. Toast To Tomorrow
05. Prince Waldeck's Galliard
06. Rainbow Eyes
07. The Circle
08. Sister Gypsy
09. Can't Help Falling In Love
10. Peasant's Promise
11. Far Far Away
12. Empty Words

Candice Night's track-by-track commentary on the new album can be found at this location.

Love the guitar, but she has to go! These albums are starting to all sound the same cuz of her monotone voice.

I liked the first 2 but didn't care for the 3rd one. I have to go back and listen to it to see if it will grow on me.

I'd pay twice to go see him if he got Doug Henning to run around with his big wizard sleeves, throwing fairy dust around and making tigers disappear. Perfect.

...but, I have very little doubt that he's flaked-out beyond the point of return, not to mention - no one involved with the band seems to want to be subjected to the guys personality at all anymore.

Oh well.

Oh yeah!!!

I can just see the battalion of yogic flyers lining the rear of the stage on that one.

Here comes another chapter of "Why you shouldn't let you own sence of self importance consume you"

Ritchie does kinda suck without Purple or Rainbow.

But remember in Purple love him or hate him Morse is the better guitarist... by FAR... sorry purists but its true. Maybe not the best for Purple but in sheer musical talent and melodies Morse kicks...

COMMENT | Blackmore owns Morse in Purple

No doubt Steve Morse has mad skills. In Purple however Blackmore owns. Name one memorable Purple song from the Steve Morse Purple era and I'll name at least 20 from Blackmore's time with the band.....enough said.

So, when are they going to tour the United States again? I saw them a few years ago in Anaheim, CA, which to date has been their ONLY West Coast performance!
