Reunited EXHORDER Working On New Material - May 9, 2008
Legendary New Orleans metallers EXHORDER — cited by many as the originators of the riff-heavy power-groove approach popularized by PANTERA (photo) — have reunited and are working on new material.

The group's 2008 lineup is as follows:

Kyle Thomas - Vocals
Vinnie Labella - Guitar
Jay Ceravolo - Guitar
Chris Nail - Drums

As previously reported, Poland's Metal Mind Productions will re-release the two albums (1990's "Slaughter in the Vatican" and 1992's "The Law") from EXHORDER on May 19 in Europe (July 8 in the USA via MVD). Each limited-edition digipack title (limited to 2,000 copies) will be made available on golden disc, digitally remastered using 24-bit technology.

Rare video footage of EXHORDER putting the finishing touches on their classic debut album, "Slaughter In The Vatican", in August 1990 at Morrisound Recording in Tampa, Florida can be viewed below.

Several live video clips from EXHORDER's 1998 reunion show have been posted online. These three clips are from August 14, 1998 and were filmed at a club called Zeppelin's in Metairie, Louisiana (although the clips are labeled "NOLA"). This was the second appearance they made as the reunited EXHORDER (the first was at Tipitana's in New Orleans a few weeks earlier). The band got up and did these three songs after Kyle Thomas' band FLOODGATE finished their set that night. Watch the clips at YouTube:

"Homicide" (video)
"Anal Lust" (video)
"Legions of Death" (video)

EXHORDER's lineup that night was as follows:

Kyle Thomas - Vocals
Vinnie Labella - Guitar
Jay Ceravolo - Guitar
Chris Nail - Drums
Kevin Thomas (Kyle's brother) - Bass

Hell yeah! I cannot wait for this. One of my favorite bands "back in the day." I've worn out 2 copies of "The Law" I listened to them so much, and of course SITV is seminal and sick as hell. "Desecrator" is one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time.

I had the chance to see them live back then too, they never disappoint. Kyle's voice is awesome in everything he's done, and Chris Nail was one of those killer drummers I always looked to, much like Alex Marquez of Solstice/Malevolent Creation, who idolized Chris, for good reason.

I will look forward to this anxiously. Good luck, guys, can't wait to hear/see you again.

EXHORDER= The biggest no talent dickriders in music, riding Pantera's coattails and Pantera was a shitty band but Exhorder's only claim to fame was "WTF?!! Panteraz ripped us off w00t~!" Give me a break. Shitty band, groove metal sucks, Exhorder sucks, Pantera sucks. END OF DISCUSSION

This is excellent news. Can't wait to hear what comes from this. The Law wasn't the greatest and sounded rushed but fuck they've had PLENTY of time to pull together stronger material.

this isnt the early nineties anymore. you think they can write material like angry teenagers can? Slaughter in the Vatican was almost 20 years ago.

I OWN BOTH OF THEIR OLD ALBUMS, AND THEY ARE NOTHING LIKE PANTERA. PANTERA RIPPED OFF NOBODY! THEY ARE AS ORIGINAL AS THEY COME. IF EXHORDER WAS SO GREAT, WELL HOW COME THEY FADED OUT IN THE EARLY 90'S!!!! YOU CANNOT COMPARE 'VULGAR DISPLAY OF POWER', TO KNOW ONE ELSE. AS ORIGINAL NOW LIKE IT WAS IN 1992. PANTERA ARE THE TRUE KINGS OF METAL!

USED CONDOM > THE GRAND WIZARD

Yeah its a cool novelty that Pantera sounds like this band, blah blah. But that doesn't take away from the fact that The Law is one of the most awesome thrash albums from that era. I respect both bands, and Kyle buried the hatchet. So should everyone else.

Some of the Law actually reminded me of Atheist with some of its technicality at times even. Well sort of. I think both bands are great and deserve respect. Exhorder are underrated as a whole, Pantera's Power Metal album is underrated as fuck as well. I hope one day they get to rerelease that one officially and remastered, etc.
