TED NUGENT To Play 6,000th Concert - May 12, 2008
According to TicketNews, veteran rocker Ted Nugent will reach a milestone this summer when the singer/guitarist will play his 6,000th concert during his three-month tour. The trek starts June 7 in Sandusky, OH and concludes September 27 in Reno, NV, during which time the Motor City Madman will play 40 North American concerts sandwiched around eight European shows, July 7-14.

As previously reported, Ted Nugent recently shot some of his scenes for the upcoming movie from singer Toby Keith, "Beer For My Horses", in New Mexico. The movie follows the exploits of small town deputies and best friends as they defy the local sheriff by embarking on an outrageous road trip to save a girlfriend from drug lord kidnappers.

Nugent plays a character named Skunk Tarver. In an article for the Waco Tribune-Herald, he wrote, "Old Skunk is an uppity, defiant, long-haired, over-the-top rock 'n' roll deputy sheriff in Jackson County, Oklahoma, who loves bowhunting and guns. He will do whatever is necessary to keep Jackson County safe from criminal danger." Nugent added, "Willie Nelson returns as a traveling gypsy circus operator and more familiar Hollywood star actors like Tom Skerritt, Claire Forlani and Barry Corbin bring some magical moments to the screen."

The rocker got involved with the project after getting a call from his pal Keith, who's working on the flick with songwriter/comedian Rodney Carrington. "Beer For My Horses" is due out later this year.

Nugent is also eying a TV project. He recently met with New Mexico governor Bill Richardson to talk about creating a "special Ted Nugent 'Spirit of New Mexico' outdoors show." Nugent explained, "In fact, the governor and I are working with his departments of tourism, game and fish, and economic development."

That's one hell of an accomplishment but I'm hardpressed to name a single Nugent song other than Cat Scratch Fever. Perhaps that makes me a bad fan of rock music because I don't know the history of Ted Nugent's illustrious career, but I can't be everything to everyone. In fact I've found myself caring less and less about popular opinion in recent weeks. Quite frankly I'm very content with marching to the beat of a different drum, pushing further away from mainstream sensibilities than I ever have before. I feel reborn like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

I'm seeing him live, lick my nuts if you don't like it.
I couldn't care less what he has to say, but he's a pretty damn good guitarist.

As someone that Ted would no doubt dismiss as a Liberal inclusive melonfarmer I won't be letting his dubious politics get in the way.

I'm flying down to Zaragoza to see him with Purple, Twisted Sister, Saxon (if they show up!) and Maiden, Slayer & Rose Tattoo the day before. Cannae wait.

I think Ted is actually far more intelligent than the moron he portrays & anyway he plays some of the best shit kicking rock n roll I've ever heard. If there's a finer live album than 'Gonzo' I've yet to hear it.

Should leave the kids alone tho.

The only half-decent song (Cat Scratch fever) he ever penned was nothing but a Smoke On The Water-ripoff anyway, and you know it.

Go fuck yourself, Ped.
