WHITESNAKE Frontman Shoots Down LED ZEPPELIN Tour-Support Rumors - May 14, 2008

WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale has contacted UK's Classic Rock magazine to set the record straight about his band's so-called plans to go on tour with LED ZEPPELIN.

Earlier in the week Coverdale was quoted as saying: "I'm expecting a call from Jimmy [Page] any day asking my band WHITESNAKE to support them on their world tour. Am I on board? You bet. Probably worth billions.”

In an e-mail to Classic Rock's Geoff Barton, Coverdale requested: "May I call upon your assistance, if needed, ol' cock, to help put out this shitstorm that be gathering steam about me supposedly saying I'm awaiting Lord Page's call to invite me to be the supporting act on the forthcoming LED ZEPPELIN world tour.

"What fucking world tour, we ask ourselves? We're already out on our Good To Be Bad world tour, thank you very much!"

Coverdale continued: "I have no idea where this started, Geoffers. But, with the wildfire of the internet, my poor ol' German publicist is fighting them off with her rusty, but trusty, Luger.

"I assure you there is no… (of course there fucking isn't) …any foundation in this.

"Why, after all the charming back-and-forths between one Monsieur Plant and oneself through the years, who could imagine such a premise possible? Not me, squire!

"Besides," Coverdale concluded, "I've got a hit record and a sold-out tour, and I'm currently pretty fucking busy playing nightly, and joyfully, with my Fab Musical Serpents, ol' chum! No complaints here…"

	"I've got a hit record and a sold-out tour, and I'm currently pretty fucking busy playing nightly" first, big ups to him and the band on the new record, haven't heard it, but it's pretty cool that whitesnake (even though they got lame in the 80's, as many bands did, 'snakebite' thru 'lovehunter' and even 'ready an' willing' were fucking ace) has a record that's doing so well in 2008. but seriously, like he wouldn't drop everything in a heartbeat to open for zeppelin. who wouldn't? 	Coverdale started the rumour himself and now realises he looks stupid as a result of it. So he sends an email to Classic Rock (presumably with a directive that it be forewarded on to Blabbermouth immediately) doused in his unfunny attempts at humour trying to clear the whole mess up while saving face. Sorry Dave, now you just look like more of an idiot.

	dude, r-u serious??!! let me guess. that's YOUR "Attempt" at humor, right? Ok I get it. -- like he needs to start ANY rumors about anything when there's 20 million Net' morons doing it themselves all over the place. yea, HE started the rumor---when obv. HE knows it would NEVER happen---his friendship with "Lord Page" (now THAT was funny!) standing---nor, as he notes, does he need it as his band is touring off what seems to be a successful New record. IF and WHEN Zep decides to tour, can you see ANY band opening without getting boo'd off the stage? well, I guess maybe a couple bands could get away with it. Prob. the Foo Fighters (JPJ is a big fan) or Velvet Revolver (IF they find a decent singer this time round') perhaps. either way, it won't happen til' the fall as Robert is touring with A. Krauss anyway for the summer.

	No one gives a shit about about a new Whitesnake album or an American tour of bowling alleys and state fairs in Idaho, so he mentions Zepp, and he's getting press. In fact, his whole career has been riding on Zepps coattails.

	At least David Coverdale is still putting out some great rock music and an album that is one of the best of 2008 and probably will be. If you give them a listen you would agree. WS are still out there putting on a great live show and new music for the fans not living in the past like some and trying to make people beg for them to perform. Led Zeppelin copied some of the blues artists from the past and no body called them rip-offs everyone has a sound or style influenced by artists they admire ...c'mon guys TB

	Foo Fighters who?? Are you seriously saying you want this boring poser PUNK parody to open for HARD ROCK legends Led Zeppelin? I'm sorry to disappoint you here but Zeppelin ain't fitting in your recent year's crappy Punk style. And on top of that Nirvana which I'm sure is the favorite band of most of you people isn't exactly Rock either. They wanted a parody to kill it off and that's what they tried. It's just that y'all bought into it they became your personal believe of what Rock is. The only thing is that that's just not what it is. If any band would do them justice it would be Whitesnake. But of course DC and the band are already on their own thing again now which absolutely rules. You better support Whitesnake and Rock music instead of hailing the fake. I think it's just wrong to put Zeppelin and the Alternative Punk in the same sentence, they should be offended for that!
