SEBASTIAN BACH On AXL ROSE: 'I Wouldn't Want To Do Anything To Jeopardize Our Friendship'
- May 14, 2008
|
|
Australia's I'm With The Band recently conducted an interview with former SKID ROW frontman Sebastian Bach. A couple of excerpts follow. I'm With The Band: What's different about the rock world now compared to when you were starting out with SKID ROW? Bach: Well, the main difference would be that back then you had to pay for music. But the live experience seems to have taken on an even more important part of rock — because you can't download a live show. The experience of watching a band perform in front of your face is something you can't get on the internet. I'm With The Band: What have you learned from your friendship with Axl [ Rose of GUNS N' ROSES]? Bach: He's a fascinating individual and he does things a lot differently to what I do. He doesn't do any interviews at all and I do millions of them. It's an incredible experience to be talking to him before he goes on stage. I'll be backstage in his room and he carries on a conversation as we're walking to the stage. The whole [arena] is going nuts and Axl will be telling me about what he did last night or the day before, and he doesn't break a stride. I'll be like, "Well, ok, you're going on stage now," and he'll say, "OK, I'll talk to you later." He'll walk out there and all of Sydney's Acer Arena crowd is like, "Ahhh, there he is. Oh, my God!" People can't believe that he's actually standing there. It's such an intense moment every night. It's a crazy situation, because he doesn't show himself to too many people and he's always been there for me. I think it's funny that when Scott Weiland left VELVET REVOLVER, the last thing he said was, "I think Sebastian Bach would be a good choice for you guys." I think that's because he's alluding to the fact that you can't get away from GUNS N' ROSES. They're like THE BEATLES or THE ROLLING STONES. I'm sure he felt frustrated in trying to fill Axl's shoes. Axl texted me right away and asked if I was joining VELVET REVOLVER, and I said, "No, not that I know of." Axl has been so nice to me, I wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize our friendship. I'm in the middle of all these huge rock icons who are calling me at the same time, and I'm sitting there thinking, "How does this f**king happen to me?" Axl said to me, "Dude, the way that you sing is rare." The way that Axl sings is rare too. There's not a lot of guys anymore that can sing in the range that we sing in. I'm With The Band: Would Axl be unhappy if you were to sing for VELVET REVOLVER? Bach: I think it would be awkward. I opened for two GUNS ‘N ROSES tours. Axl sang on my record and I sing on "Chinese Democracy". We're very close friends. For me to join a band and then sing all of his songs would be kinda weird. But "Angel Down" is what's in my heart and I can't wait to get out there and tour it. That's what I'll be doing for the foreseeable future. Read the entire interview at I'm With The Band.

THAT THOSE G'NR GUYS ARE RIGHT THERE WITH THE HAIR DAZE, AND THE POISONS OF THE WORLD,
NIKKI SIXX WOULD NOT TOUR WITH POISON DURING BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION.
GUNS WAS AND IS FAR BETTER AND MORE KICK ASS THAN POISON (not even a contest) BUT EVEN SLASH TRIED OUT FOR THE BAND POISON.
SCOTT WEILAND IS FROM THE KURT,VEDDER,LAYNE ERA/DAZE...
80s vs 90s Stick to your own kind?!
AND I GUESS THAT IS RIGHT^ SCOTT AND AXL NOW HAVE THE SAME MANAGERS... THINGS IM SURE FLOAT AROUND IN HOLLYWOOD CAUSE PEOPLE JUST RUN OFF AT THE MOUTH. BLABBERMOUTHS;-)
I THINK SCOTT REALLY MEANT YEAH , "GET BACH", CAUSE THAT IS THE STYLE AND THE TIMES GUNS COME FROM. CAN'T HIDE OR RUN FROM YOUR ROOTS,AND WHY SHOULD YA?!
BUT AXL AND BACH BOTH TRY TO HIDE AND RUN ... BOTH MEN COME FROM 80s HAIR DAZE. LOOK AT THE PEOPLE IN THE NEW GUNS(HMMMM) LOOK AT THE MEMBERS IN BACH BAND.
EVEN BACH (i cant believe this) IS TOURING WITH POISON AS WE SPEAK AFTER HE HAS BASHED THOSE BANDS AND WANTED TO GET AWAY FROM IT, HE WAS GONNA BE MR. METAL BUT NOW 80s HAIR IS SORA KINDA TRENDY AGAIN?!?!
$$$$
HMMMMMmmmm

WHEN BACH TRIED OF FOR V.R. (THE FIRST TIME...I said the first time ...yes!), *HE WAS PRETTY SURE HE GOT THE JOB...
SO- IN A WAY BACH LOST TO SCOTT WEILAND.
NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD SAYS- THE 2 V.R. ALBUMS ARE F*KKEN BADD AZZ AWESOME! AND WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME, WEILAND GAVE THEM A MODERN SOUND!
SO- V.R. DIDNT GET BACH THE FIRST TIME... WHY WOULD THEY GET HIM NOW?
EVEN MATT SORUM SAID: "LIBERTAD IS THE ONLY ALBUM IVE EVER PLAYED ON THAT I CAN LISTEN TO FROM START TO END".

Bach sings on a C.D. song called 'Sorry' I believe.
And again, he is asked about GNR, he doesn't bring it up. Every interviewer does it, seems like.
And Angel Down is very good.

Though I haven't heard it in its entirety, I'm willing to bet that "Angel Down" is a far superior rock 'n roll experience than VR's "Libertad". That album was "Libertarded".
Sebastian has the testicular fortitude to be himself and rock out accordingly. I wish I could say the same about VR.

People can't believe that Axl tore himself away from his Roast Lamb dinner!
GNR was cool, but definitely not on the level of The Beatles or The Stones.

who gives if a band is from the 80's or 90's?????????? i like Motley Crue, GNR, Skid Row, Sebastian Bach, Iron Maiden and many more from the 80's and i also like AIC, STP, Soundgarden. and i have seen Crue and Bach, new GNR, Maiden and Chris Cornell, and Bach, Crue and GNR where much better live then most other bands i have seen, even Maiden but Maiden was still good and are usually up there too live. Saw the Chili Peppers the day after GNR and Bach and they suck compared to them both and they are supposed to be so hip and all that. it doesnt matter live!!! it's the performance that counts not how you look or dress. and its good they are friends, so what??? and the second Velvet album was great but a little different from Slash and Duff but good. and Angel Down is a great metal album!!!

Baz likes Axl, Jamey Jasta, Gone Country, So you wanna be a rap star,
so now I've figured out who RiotAct666 REALLY is!
They are one and the same!!
So Baz posts on here all the time under our noses and we only knew him by his user name RiotAct666!
Can't wait for the tour/album/whatever! \m/ he/she/they is a rock legend.
One more thing, I see alot of new user names under this post that I've never seen before, plus a couple of blasts in the past from T-boner. Or is this a new version?

Would you really be singing Axl's songs, if you joined Velvet Revolver? This is what it says about It's So Easy on wikipedia
"On his May 6, 2006 interview on the Eddie Trunk radio show in New York, Rose stated that "It's So Easy", was originally written by Duff McKagan and West Arkeen,"
So get it straight Bach boy, these songs are as much Slash and Duff's as they are Rose's... so you wouldn't be singing Axl's song would you.

I like Sebastian Bach. I've seen Skid Row in '91 when they opened for G n' R, and I saw Sebastian Bach open for G n' R in 2006. He sounded great, especially when he did the Skid Row songs. He sounded like he did years ago. He would've been a great frontman for any band, but I would advise against him going into VR. I love Slash, and Duff is cool too, but I wasn't impressed with Contraband, with the exception of a few songs which I thought were great, and Libertad totally disgusted me. I like Weiland as a singer, but this was nowhere near his best.
Everyone here talks about how VR should hire a vocalist that is not a head case and is talented. Newsflash!!!!!! Most talented vocalists have their own problems. A good example is Mike Patton from Faith No More, Mr Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk, etc. The guy is probably one of the most creative vocalists out there and is musically talented but is also a guy who will eat his own shit. Unless they're looking for a crappy singer like Jon Bon Jovi, who plays the nice guy to society, they're gonna have to look outside the box and realize this is all part of Rock N' Roll.
Although one guy who may be a good fit is Lukas Rossi, from that Rockstar Supernova show. The band may've been a joke but he was great vocalist. Him, The Aussie contestant Toby, and Ryan were probably the three talented ones on the show. But I don't think they'll go for Ryan because he was another instumental guy who likes to experiment with different things just like Axl, which was something that apparently bothered Slash.
Going for Izzy is a retarded idea. I love Izzy and he is a great songwriter and a great guitarist, but sucks as a vocalist, although he is better than Mustaine. I didn't really consider, Dust N' Bones and 14 yrs to be GnR songs and same thing with Double Talking Jive, but thats my personal opinion. His solo stuff is ok, but he doens't stike to me as a great frontman for a rock band.
The best thing is still a G n' R reunion but Slash is too stubborn to admit that's what he wants. Bottom line is these guys cannot put anything productive without Axl. Some say Steven should play drums because he was the original drummer, and say Matt should because he is the better drummer. Well, if you wanna hire the better Drummer, go with Bryan "Brain" Mantia. Out of all the drummers who hit the drumkit for this band, he is definitely the best!!!! I also think Buckethead is also the most talented guitarist who has ever played in this band as well, but I wanna see Slash back.
Let us all hope the years to come are filled with good music, and some crappy typical radio play.

To start off with it wouldnt happen but i think Chris Cornell would be a superb front man for VR. He has a brilliant voice, he is very good live and he could pull off VR'songs... But i doubt it would happen...
And G N R... Your all right Bach just sucks Axl's arse. Guns N Roses would never do a reunion 1 because the whole ORIGINAL band said Axl is very very hard to work with. 2 because they arn't too bothered about meeting up again and 3 because every time they even talk about it the press blow it out the water and put them off. Sorry guys it aint guna happen.
