VAN HALEN Filming Shows For Concert DVD
- May 14, 2008
|
|
VAN HALEN is reportedly filming select shows on its current tour for an upcoming DVD release. Last night's (May 13) concert at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey was the first performance to be filmed, according to singer David Lee Roth. Eddie Van Halen recently spoke to People magazine about his health in the wake of the March 2008 announcement that VAN HALEN's ongoing world tour was put on ice after the guitarist was diagnosed with an unspecified medical condition. There are still no public details on exactly what ailed, or ails, the guitarist, but he says, quote, "I feel excellent. I'm healthier than I've ever been. It's wonderful." VAN HALEN resumed its reunion tour with singer David Lee Roth on April 17 in Reno, Nevada, followed by a performance in Las Vegas on April 19 at Tiger Jam XI, an annual fundraiser hosted by pro golf star Tiger Woods. Following Tiger Jam XI, the quartet headed to Cincinnati on April 22 to begin the jaunt in earnest, with shows running through June 2 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tickets for all the original dates are good for the new shows, and refunds are also available at point of purchase. Promoters stated in March that Eddie Van Halen was undergoing "medical tests to define a course of treatment," although both his son, bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, and his ex-wife, actress Valerie Bertinelli, went public to reassure fans that the guitarist was doing "great." A recurrence of cancer or a fall off the wagon were both rumored as the cause of the guitarist's woes. The first VAN HALEN tour in 22 years with Roth behind the mic has been a smash success since kicking off last fall.

I agree it was an excellent show, I'd say better then the one at MSG last year. There were alot of open seats so me and My friends went to better ones that were right next to the stage. My only gripe was that they didnt play Little Guitars.

They should come to Europe, dammit. I want to see this line-up before they (or I) die!
Wolfgang looks like the kids I teach every day...but I don't miss M.A. at all. Never liked his stupid-ass bass solos anyway.

Here in the ATL. DLR's vocals were turned down so low you could not hear him. The overall sound was awful.
EVH lost sound during his solos.
AVH's drum solo is old, so it was a great time to get another Jack and Coke.
Wolfgang stood there like a tree.

Whoever is running the sound on this tour should be outright fired NOW.
I've been to 2 shows and have never heard such bad and inconsistent sound on a major tour like this.
Fire that asshole immediately.

Yeh, right you post "on the spot" in every post about Eddie's playing on this site about this same old same old! He is never "on the spot". It's live the only place it's "on the spot" is in the studio with new material that works and the last time that happened was with Sammy Hagar.
They will never work with Dave and new material unless they do music for gay florial shops.

I post that every time about Eddie?
No, not at all.
This show though, he was very very good, but at the same time a bit conservative right now with what he did it that night.
The Philly show was edgier more rock n roll and not spot on, but very cool.
He was not spot on the pervious two shows, and this show by far was his best that I have seen of the tour.
Ok, the last time they recorded new material with Hagar? Hmmmm oh you're talking about Up For Breakfast and It's About Time off of Best of Both Worlds? WHAT A FUCKING JOKE THAT WAS.....hahahaha.....oh that was bad
Those songs were awful.
Man you are too funny....

...trying to make some extra cash from left over shit that didn't make it on the Twister sound track. No I'm talking about Balance the last good Van Halen cd. I'm not knocking you or Eddie it's just that they aren't much "on the spot" in any of the show's footage I've seen from this or any tour. But I still think Dave isn't the same Dave from the good old days, they will never sell anything that will be popular with the masses again with him. But Sammy just seems to get the masses to buy Eddie's stuff when he writes the lyrics. That is why since Sammy left the band it's been pretty quit with new material.

Well we'll see what happens if they put out a new CD with Dave.
I mean the reason BOV1 sold is because you had 2 new Dave songs on it, everyone knows that.
If there is new Dave material, and it's good, the Van Halen fans will buy it, and that will guarantee a few million albums sold. In todays market that is an amazing feat.

Because of the new material on that CD by Sammy and I bought the Greatest Hits Vol. 1 CD because of the new material from both Sammy and David Lee Roth, and I thought that the Dave stuff was awsome, but older sounding compared to "Humans Being" which had a hard edge to it which kick ass the same with "It's About Time" which sounded a lot like "Humans Being"? Just wanted to join in on the post. And being a Van Hagar fan I would still like to hear good :new material" from Dave , too! But he is sounding very berlesque kinda like a broadway show or something with his older songs on this recent tour.

There is something fishy about this hole tour, just checkout Wolfie when he grabs a hat from a fan, the bass playing in the song is still playing vicious bass and he is bending over and taking thehat and putting it on while lightly taping the bas with one hand. Looks a lot like a taped bass backing track to me, also I have heard of this on other posts including Eddie being accussed of the same thing too. When I saw them in L.A. I couldn't se that good from were I sat on the floor, but in these videos you can kinda see. On one of the older clips from last yearyou can see Eddie lifting both hands in the air but his guitar was still playing, and Dave lips were with the words, no delay but Eddie's hand were in the air and the guitar was playing.

do not get a copy of van halen jump live. Its a bootleg. I dont think the distributer has the bands permission. Its clips of live right here right now and live without a net. bad quality. If they put out a live dvd of this tour it will give me something to do while waiting on a new album of new songs.
