VAN HALEN, LINKIN PARK Set For 'Guitar Hero IV' - May 14, 2008
According to the latest issue of Game Informer, VAN HALEN, THE EAGLES, LINKIN PARK and SUBLIME have been confirmed for the fourth installment of the Guitar Hero video game, with developer Neversoft confirming master tracks shall be used for all available songs.

Aside from the special-editions of Guitar Hero III, the true successor will have some funky new additions including custom song creation and support for multiple instruments, reports C3 News.

Guitar Hero IV, due for release this fall, is said to include drum and vocal work (much like EA's Rock Band effort), alongside the expected Bass and Guitar. It's currently unknown if Rock Band's periperals will be supported, or whole new set will be on offer. As for song creation, players can mock up their work (excluding vocals), artwork, and upload their creations to the world. There'll initially be a five-song limit, but this is likely to change.

who finds this artificial musical instrument video game stuff kind of stupid? It's just dance dance revolution for your hands with a plastic wannabe guitar. Try playing a real guitar that's even more fun.

Not a huge fan of this game, but I’d really like to see an Opeth song on one of these.

Great game. The best band in the galaxy: VAN HALEN.

It'll be a blast.

It Ain't Van HALEN without David Lee Roth!!!

It's just a game and I don't understand why there's such a negative backlash between players and non-players. Rock Band blows this shit out of the water anyways.

I saw a kid, maybe 12-14 yrs old on the bus last week, had a GH guitar, sorry, GH GAMEPAD slung behind on his back, cut off sleeves on his t-shirt, and on his bicep, what appears to be some sort of tribal tattoo done with permanent marker.

That people always say "duhhhh just play a real guitar!". It's just a game, not a substitute for playing the guitar. They are enjoyed on different levels. Think of guitar hero to guitar as kareokee is to singing. It's meant as entertainment that anyone can try and do.

With that said, I've noticed a lot bars here in Chicago doing Guitar Hero nights, which is quite a bit of fun.

What cracks me up is that people tend to forget IT'S A VIDEO GAME with a controller with buttons and that it looks like a guitar. This guy's complaining that he knows a retarded guy who thinks he can shred since he can play Guitar Hero? Dude don't even talk shit like all these other people...oh why don't you learn the real thing...you worked with a retarded guy, so I guess you might not be far off from that

COMMENT | So what if I don't play guitar???

Some of you people really need to stop taking this shit too seriously, I enjoy playing GH even if I'm not that good, but you know what I find it entertaining, and I'm surely not a RETARD. I don't play the guitar (not that I didn't try) but I certainly kick most of your asses in a vocal contest though...

P.S. I also enjoy Grand Theft Auto and I'm far from being a criminal.

GTA is played out. What the point in releasing another GTA game.

Vice City is the pinnacle of GTA franchise. Nothing can top that.

Games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero are more than likely inspiring people to actually pick up an insturment.

The song selection in the game is also introducing a whole new generation to bands that they wouldn't have ever even heard of before.

Stop being a bunch of fucking wankstains.

Stop comparing this to real guitar as we all know it isn't. It's a GAME people. My eleven year old and I have enjoyed playing GH together but we don't ever think we are as good as you garage band players are. Your ego's are safe.
