METALLICA Tour To Kick Off In October - May 15, 2008
Mitchell Peters of Billboard.biz reports: With a handful of U.S. and overseas festival and concert dates lined up this summer, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich has revealed that the band will follow the September release of its new as-yet-untitled album with a tour.

The trek will begin in October, Ulrich said last night (May 14) during an intimate benefit concert at Los Angeles' 2,300-capacity Wiltern Theatre.

"That was the first show of the tour," announced METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett, who, along with his bandmates, shredded through a nearly two-hour set with such thrashy hits as "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "Fuel", "Master of Puppets", "...And Justice for All", "Enter Sandman", and "Seek And Destroy", among others.

As much as I hope the new record is a breath of fresh air for these cats, they're gonna ruin Bonaroo. The seem to ruin every festival they've played...recently. I don't know...almond m&m's are good.

Only Fuel and Enter Sandman from the 90's.. sweet. Would have liked Frantic or St. Anger, but you can't please everyone..

I'm looking forward to the new album too but for some reason I keep thinking that they're not starving pissed off kids anymore and just can't find the same aggression in their millionaire rock star lifestyles to write good songs anymore. Hopefully the style will be a return to righteous form. I'd rather have an average album that is in the same style as kill 'em all and ride the lightning, than the load, reload or st. anger. At least we'll probably get some lead guitar this time around.

Can't wait for the 2023 tour when they will play St. Anger in its entirety on its 20th anniversary.

Yeah, keep dreaming.

Knowing Metallica, it's gonna be Mr. Mister or some other NON-metal band like almost every tour the past 10 years.

Metallica hasn't put out a good album since 1988, tho the Black album did have it's moments, but I will always go see them live, still a sick show, seen them every time they hit Providence since '88 and never dissapointed!

I liked em a lot more when they weren't hits... and I dont think I'm on board for anything post-Justice being called thrash...
It looks like the new record could be good though... but then I remember thinking the same thing when St. Stinker was right around the corner too.

Either way w/ a shitty record or not, 'tallica's the real deal live. They always bring the pain.

Cannot wait to hear this new album. I also hope they release the two "new songs," especially "Death Is Not The End," in some capacity... I think that song absolutely rocks.

Think whatever you want, no actual thrash bands will ever open for Metallica. Especially the mighty Testament.
More probably, they'll choose shit like Scars on Broadway or what the fuck.
They simply never wanted another thrash band to beat up their asses and steal their crowd...it's obvious those guys quickly forgot their musical and human roots once they left the underground.

I can't wait to wait some more for an album that keeps getting pushed back and should have been delivered at least a year or two ago...

the album better not suck like St. Awful.
