TIAMAT: 'Amanethes' Lands On German Chart - May 17, 2008
"Amanethes", the new album from TIAMAT, has entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 69. As previously reported, the CD also landed on the Swedish chart at No. 13 — TIAMAT's highest-ever chart entry in its home country.

"Amanethes" has received rave reviews in Sweden, with the major newspaper Expressen calling it "a perfect album" and giving it a rare top rating. On Kritiker.se, a web site that compiles album reviews in the biggest Swedish magazines, "Amanathes" is the highest-rated release among all national and international LPs.

"Amanethes" was produced by TIAMAT mainman Johan Edlund, and was recorded mainly at The Mansion in Greece, with additional recordings taking place at Studio Mega in Sweden and Cue in Greece. The album was mixed and mastered by Siggi Bemm in Woodhouse Studios, Germany in January 2008.

The digipack version of "Amanethes" contains the exclusive bonus track "Thirst Snake".

TIAMAT's last studio album, "Prey", was released in 2003 through Century Media.

In other news, TIAMAT bassist Anders Iwers will sit out some of the group's upcoming festival dates due to the birth of his second child. Replacing Anders for the first two shows will be Jesper Sklarin from FINGERSPITZENGEFĂśHL.

TIAMAT has been confirmed for Artmania Festival 2008, set to take place July 18-19 in Sibiu, Romania.

Very low album. I have listened to this album many times since it's out. actually it's not a metal album at all . If you exclude the vocal from the tracks, you might think it is the new album of Deep Purple or Blackmore's night. Not only you can't find at least a good melody in this album, but it makes you feels you have waisted your money !

hehe I understand why you'd think that ; what's great with this band, is that someone's favorite album is another's weakest.

It seems I'm amongst the happy few who actually love all their albums since Wildhoney :)

The only negative comment I'd give about Amanethes is that it is so diverse, you can sometimes be in the mood for one or two of the songs, but just want to skip the rest. All in all, I think it is a great collection of songs but doesn't quite gel as an album per se.
