DANZIG Planning 'Blackest Of The Black' U.S./Canada Tour

DANZIG will embark on the "Blackest of the Black 2008" tour later in the year. This year the trek will cover all of the U.S. and will include select Canadan dates. More information will be made available soon. The last "Blackest of the Black" tour — which took place at the end of 2006 — focused on the U.S. West Coast and featured headliner DANZIG alongside LACUNA COIL, THE HAUNTED, BELPHEGOR and ASESINO. "The 'Blackest of the Black' tour is for extreme bands that sell out venues across the country, that sell records, but don't get radio play or get on MTV," DANZIG mainman Glenn Danzig, who masterminded the tour, previously said. "It's anti the corporate crap nu-rap-metal that gets shoved down fans' throats at other concerts." Glenn Danzig completed a short U.S. tour in October/November with a band that included bassist Steve Zing ( SAMHAIN) and guitarist Todd Youth ( DANZIG, MURPHY'S LAW); former MISFITS axe man Doyle Von Frankenstein and his new band GORGEOUS FRANKENSTEIN, supported on all dates.

First "Nu-rap crap?" C'mon.. Nu metal and rap metal haven't been relevant or prevalent in 8 years. NOT to mention that fucking Lacuna Coil is like the ultimate wanna-be corporate band who just can't get signed to a major label..

I too was surprised at Danzig for mentioning Nu-Metal. He's seeking bands that sell records without heavy rotation on MTV, which is the way he came up, but I think the difference is that those bands are following a formula with little innovation if any.
I hope he uses the same band lineup for this tour as he did for the October/Nov. tour in 2007.

Yeah he said that awhile ago about the rap nu shit, but i think he should be calling out all these fucking weak lame emo bands that are now on every fest bill, download fest has far to many of these cry baby bands on. Danzig rules, hope to see him do some shows in England sometime.

I dont get anyone speaking trash on Danzig.hes never sold out, hes always done what he felt like without taking the cash to do otherwise, otherwise he would have done some huge misfits reunion tour for $$$ years ago or toned down his imagery..
instead he consistantly puts out dark heavy ass music.He is a legend, plain and simple.they dont make them liek that anymore.

I thought the music was what mattered.
Danzig has lots of good music.
Most likely you have not even listened to anything besides Mother.
He wrote a song for Johnny Cash.
He wrote one for Roy Orbison too.
Maybe you do not remember or know who those people are, but that is pretty cool in my book.

Uhhhhh... I'm sorry but you are horribly incorrect...
The "dark imagery" was abandoned completely after Danzig 4. I can see his desire in wanting to appeal to a wider spectrum of fans- nothing wrong with that- but Danzig wasn't "scary" anymore after that album. His music became colorful and industrial sounding, ala Orgy (6 was even produced by a member of said band), etc. All the creepiness was gone and replaced with cartoon character t-shirts, hot chicks in his albums' liner notes and songs like "kiss the skull" and "Unspeakable" rather than downright scary shit like "Godless" and "Heart of the Devil."

He is awesome! Just because the dude from the North Side Kings knocked him out doesn't mean Danzig couldn't get another shot at it!
Who cares anyway? The guy is amazing and whoever is saying that he wasn't dark after Danzig 4, his best album yet IMO, is crazy! The guy is probably in his late 50's. Who gives a shit about when he got knocked out? I've seen him spar people in martial arts and if he had another chance he'd kick YOUR ass and not bad for an old man. Sorry Glen.
Anyway, it ain't boxing. This guy has some AMAZING music:Misfits - one of the only punk bands I like, Samhain - somewhere between Misfits and Danzig, and DANZIG - especially 2,3, and 4 AWESOME albums!
You idiots think that your favorite performers are TOUGH GUYS?!?!? They don't need to be. They got everything they want just like Danzig and UNLIKE the guy who knocked him out. Danzig is someone, the guy who knocked him out is no one! Get over it suckers! Danzig puts his work into music. That Nu Metal is dead. They play that shit all the time. To the REAL corporate mainstays the shit aint dead, but is getting replaced more and more by "core" or Metalcore, some of which I actually like. I hate a lot of it, but at least good guitar solos are back and some decent riffs here and there.

I saw the video, and I believe that he fell as the result of the punch delivered by Danny, but, seriously, does something that isn't all that uncommon (i.e. getting into a scuffle) have to be brought up so much? Lots of people have been punched.
No wonder he seems to hide out; the simplest human error which could (and has) happen(ed) to anyone becomes the only thing that people remember about a guy who has had/still has, a successful career.
