BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE: 'Blood' Version Of 'Waking The Demon' Video Available - May 17, 2008
The "blood" version of BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's "Waking the Demon" video can be viewed in the player below.

"Waking the Demon" is the latest clip from BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's sophomore album, "Scream Aim Fire" (Jive/Zomba).

As previously reported, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE will release the song "Waking the Demon" on Monday, June 16 as a download-only track exclusively through iTunes. There is also going to be a digital comic book based around the track itself available to download.

Getting bullied in school — it's every young student's worst nightmare, and the basis of "Waking the Demon". "Waking the Demon" is probably the hardest song on BULLET's album and has its roots in the bandmembers' own experiences of getting beat up at school because they had long hair or because they were in a band.

According to BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's vocalist/lyricist Matt Tuck, "'Waking the Demon' is about finding someone's inner demon. Most of us in the band got pushed around in school so the song is about getting tormented, day in and day out for years, and then one day — 'snap!' — like that!"

The video for "Walking the Demon" was written and directed by Max Nichols (son of Academy Award-winning director Mike) and will breathe a visual life into BULLET's lyrics: "There's just no limits to the boundaries you push / I've warned you but still you just f**k with my mind / There's no escape from this rage / That I feel / Nothing is real / Breathe for me, don't wake me from this slumber / Stay with me possession taking over."

What's the difference between this "blood" (eh?) version and the normal version? Could someone tell me?

COMMENT | I've found out the difference between the two videos...

...and it's not worth Blabbermouth doing a news story about it. Only a little over a second's change between the videos.

And, if they just ignored the bullies, the bullies would've gotten bored. I once had someone bully me all the time when I entered secondary school (this was before I got into metal), but after a while I just got on with it and actually ended up good friends with him. There was none of this "Breathe for me, don't wake me from this slumber / Stay with me possession taking over" tosh when I was being bullied, and the bullied who today rely on such ideologies like "There's just no limits to the boundaries you push / I've warned you but still you just fuck with my mind" to combat bullying are asking for it, unfortunate as it is.

Incidentally, in passing, I got into metal after hearing Chimaira at the age of 13, and evolved my tastes in metal without even knowing about other metalheads (due to my school having below-par IT facilities and very limited Internet access), even after immediately starting my metal journey I thought Korn and Slipknot were crappy; I didn't follow any trends because I simply didn't know about them, and I had become sensible enough to stay true to my tastes and opinions by the time I entered college, when everyone else my age was (and still is) following the trends... all this, and I never got bullied enough to write a daft emo song-- TRACK (!) over it. Can't imagine Bullet For My Valentine (or, by extension, their peers) saying the same.

I'm picturing Lemmy going Sargent Hartmen (Full Metal Jacket) on them, while they go Chris Crocker.

people get bullied if they are the odd one out of things

i got bullied alot in school because i was listening to metallica and slayer while the rest of my year listened to crappy hardcore punk, or all the ganstas listened to hip hop

i was going through alot of shit at the time too... my parents divorcing, losing my part time job, and i ended up getting some pretty shit exit grades by the end of it... lets just put it as "if it werent for my girlfriend, i would have loved to columbine my school"

so i can see where they are coming from, but they really need to stop pretending that they are "pure metal", and do something to lose their crappy scene kid fans... seriously, they annoy the shit outta me
