SIKTH Calls It Quits - May 27, 2008
London, UK-based noise-mongers SIKTH have issued the following statement:

"It deeply saddens the four of us to announce that we are closing the book on SIKTH... it's time to split up.

"A combination of factors have driven us to make this decision.

"We want to assure you that if it were viable for us to carry on — we would.

"We are so proud of all that we have achieved as Sikth and we have agreed to work together again in the future.

"We are currently involved in new projects so keep checking our personal pages for announcements.

"And finally, we owe such huge and sincere thanks to all of you for listening to our music and enabling us to live our dream. We know we have left you in the dark lately and we are sorry for that.

"Your loyalty will never be forgotten."

SIKTH's Bieler Bros. debut, "Death of a Dead Day", was released in June 2006. The CD was produced by members of SIKTH and was mixed by Matt LaPlant at Bieler Bros. Studios in Pompano Beach, Florida.

SIKTH's video for the song "Bland St. Bloom" can be viewed below.

All this guttural nonsense-in-vocals these days renders so many bands damn-near unlistenable.

ive been a fan of this band since pretty much day one, and they have always been great. Its a shame that they keep having line-up changes, and now both vocalists have left its best to start something new.
roll on the new projects!!

I just got their CD about 4 months ago and was blown away. I fuckin' love this band and now they're gone. For everyone claiming they're just "noise", what do you think the rest of the world categorizes Heavy Metal as a whole? It such a shame that heavy-metallers struggle so hard to be heard and understood by the rest of the world, but can be so close-minded within their own genre. It's really fuckin' lame.

"For everyone claiming they're just 'noise'....."

Would that include the band members themselves?

What a sad day in the metal community, I shall consider my day officially ruined!! We can only hope that they reunite in the future for a massive worldwide tour & sell out the stadiums!! What a great band, they will be truely missed!!!

Over? Already?

This sucks. They didn't even make their best album yet. First one = great; second one = awesome; third, fourth, fifth = unbelievably mindblowing to be sure.

i'll always remember you, Sikth, as the band that blew Dillinger Escape Plan, Burnt By The Sun, and Anthrax off the stage :)

I'm sure they held themselves to a higher standard than merely making noise. Making noise in any sort of organized arrangement is called music.

Too bad... that´s one of those band split-ups that makes me sad.
Great band, even though some might call it strange stuff.

At least I saw them live once.

well just because music falls under a general genre, doesn't mean you have to like it. all metal is not good! and this one is not good.. imo but of course everyone has their own opinons about the band. nothing is forever!

Having given both albums a good old chance I can't say I'm surprised by this news. Seriously insane totally un-understandable vocals, mixed with a load of muzo, self indulgent riff landscapes (couldn't call them songs).
It's always a shame when someone doing something so diffrent splits up but if you're going to make music that appeals to such a tiny listener base then it will always be a case of when and not if.

At least they gave us two amazing albums. My friend showed me this band three or so years ago, and at first I thought it was just some weird shit. As I kept listening I realized that this band had the most creative, unique sound I have ever heard.

It's good thing when bands are actually talented. I hope the brains behind this band will write some more heavy stuff, in a new band. If not, then, at least they gave the world these two albums.

I don't get why some people think Sikth were THAT far out there. They're certainly one of the most unique metal bands I've heard but I "got" their stuff instantly whereas it's a lot harder for me to get into say Dillinger Escape Plan.

This band was amazing. Vocals were the weakest point but they were just an accompaniment to the awesome guitar, and were still great.
