GODSMACK, SEVENDUST, ALTER BRIDGE Teaming Up For Summer Tour - May 27, 2008
According to The Pulse of Radio, GODSMACK, SEVENDUST and ALTER BRIDGE are teaming for a summer tour that will start sometime in July. The trek has not been officially confirmed yet, and no dates or cities have been announced. The tour would mark a change in plans for GODSMACK, which went on hiatus at the end of last year after touring for much of 2006 and 2007 behind its "IV" album. Singer Sully Erna planned to work on a solo record, while the other members of the group released a CD under the name ANOTHER ANIMAL.

SEVENDUST recently issued its latest effort, "Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow", and was initially announced as part of the lineup for this summer's inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour with SLIPKNOT and DISTURBED. But drummer Morgan Rose told The Pulse of Radio why the band decided to pull out. "Financially it wasn't going to work," he said. "We weren't going to be able to make enough money to even survive. If we would have went out in a van, with no crew guys, sleeping on the street, we still wouldn't have made enough money, and that's just enough money to keep our families, you know, from not having to get kicked out of the house."

SEVENDUST recently wrapped up their first trek since original guitarist Clint Lowery rejoined the group in late March. The band next plays on June 7 in Kansas City, Missouri.

ALTER BRIDGE is on the road in Europe through mid-June as it supports its sophomore effort, "Blackbird".

Gsmack puts on a hell of a show, but if giving the chance, Alter Bridge will wipe the floor with both of the bands!! should be a fun night of Rock and Roll though..

Godsmack and sevendust should be a good show. 2 out of 3 bands aint band. I for one won't be watching alter bridge. I'll just get there late and miss alter bridge. More power to you if you like alter bridge not my cup of tea.

Sevendust should really be the openers here. Sevendust to me, although a good band, just aren't the greatest live act, and their record sales aren't there. Alter Bridge is a perfect example why Alice in Chains and others carry on with the same name. Just the name Creed would guarantee a headline bill, and "One Day Remains" would have gotten the push it deserved. Even so, I think Sevendust would defenitely be openers here.

gotta disagree, Gsmack are def the headliner (although I truely believe Alter bridge has the talent and songs to carry the honor of being the headliner) but as always, Gsmack will bring the lights, fire and stage show, like I said, it'll be a good night for Rock and Roll

Alter Bridge put on incredibly great-sounding shows! Mark often brings out a guy named Toshii Setaa (sp?) halfway through the shows and they do about a 10-minute "shred clinic" along with Myles playing gutiar, as well. Surprisingly, Myles is a fantastic guitarist. 7Dust are my hometown boyz, so of course I'll be glad to see them. I sure hope Godsmack don't headline. They blow.

I do agree that Godsmack will not and should not open for Alter Bridge. They deserve their headline status. ALthough I thought that Alter Bridge would take out a couple of smaller bands like Seether, 10 Years or Fair To Midland. My comment was was to point out that Alter Bridge would and should be second on the bill.

The poster above is right. If you ever listened to Alter Bridge, I don't see how you can say that are not any good. They are an extremely talented band. The song "Black Bird" is an epic 8 minute tune with many different levels of guitar solos which almost remind me of a Led Zepplin song from the 70's.

"Blackbird", in my own personal opinion, should have been nominated for some sort of award. I don't mean anything for being a shitty band, because they are not a crappy, untalented band like so many ppl on here have said in older posts about them. Don't waste time making asinine, useless comments about them if you don't like them.

actually Im glad AB are on the tour, it gives a chance to play bigger venues, and opens them up to new ears, as great as Blackbird is, it got zero to no push by their label, and thats just crappy, cause it s an amazing CD!! although I believe (again) they could headline the show, atleast they get a chance to show case to new ears and bigger places, Gsmack has a huge following, not sure about 7dust anymore, I honeslty didnt even think they were still around!! show's how much I know

i dont bash bands i dont like, but i do bash people who think they know all there is to know about music. If you don't like death metal, great, but shut the fuck up when you ignorantly talk about how it isn't music. Just because you can't understand the vocalist nearly as well as the crap that comes out of the mouth of guys like Scott Stapp does not mean it's not music. If you are that dimwitted, then I guess it's good you are just listening to Alterbridge, death metal is a lot more sophisticated than you are.
There hasn't been any bashing yet, so I guess I decided to start it. Listen to your own god damn music and don't label other people's genres as simple and stupid.

I agree 100% with the posters above that have a clue. Alter Bridge is without question one of the top hard rock bands in the world. Blackbird is a masterpiece and Myles is an incredible talent. I don't even think that is debatable.

I listen to some of the heaviest bands out there and have for over twenty years, but you can't listen to extreme metal 24/7... at least I can't. AB is a great change of pace and they are not pretending or posing to be anything they aren't. They are simply a world class rock band with great songwriting and musicianship.

godsmack: great live band but Sully thinks he's better than he really is. He should actually think twice seeing as Another Animal is actually pretty decent.

sevendust: WAS good with their first CD but have slowly lost the edge the first CD had.

Alter Bridge: I don't hear much about them in Wisconsin so I can't really say anything good or bad.

all in all this sounds like a show that won't sell many tickets, none of the three bands is doing anything right now that has many begging for tickets.

What this show needs is a headliner like Motley Crue who does have something new that will draw in more people. Not that I care for Motley Crue (actually just Nikki Sixx irritates me like a bad ass rash!) but Motley and Godsmack together could sell ALOT of tickets given the lack of big shows currently in progress.

The 3 most boring non diverse metal bands on tour together. Nothing like 3 bands offering safe radio friendly middle of the road metal.

'Cause they have potential. I've been a fan of Godsmack, but I've had enough quite frankly. Another Animal is like a second breath for Godsmack's members, minus Sully who wants to explore something else.

Sevendust.....along with Machine Head are the best live band I've seen (8 times). Pantera was up there too. Sevendust def deserves the direct support. I don't really like Chapter 7
Godsmack will headline because of their commercial success, people old and young like them, and they have the most record sales.
Alterbridge in my opinion is kind of boring, but I've never seen them live so I won't hate on the them too much, but the opening spot is where they belong.

Wow, 3 great bands in one. Ive always wanted to see all of these bands, this will be great. Ive heard they all kickass live, I saw videos on youtube and even with poor audio they sound much better than some of you nay sayers. And as for Alter Bridge, If your talking bad about them you have probably never listened to thier albums, both are incredible but Blackbird is astounding. Just my opinion, but then again Im one of those dumbasses that likes metallicas st anger album, and load reload.
